536: Devouring Beast

The black dragon, Little White, flew in silence, its massive dragon eyes alertly watching everything within the Chaos.

However, right at that moment—

Little White's massive dragon body suddenly jerked to a halt!

"Ma... Master..."

A low, suppressed dragon roar came from ahead, carrying an instinctive tremor that seemed to reach the very marrow of one's bones.

Everyone looked over together.

Ahead, the Chaos Qi currents underwent a strange change; no longer tumbling randomly, they formed a regular, inward-spinning vortex.

Countless fragments of shattered worlds, asteroid belts, and even an entire severed star river were being pulled by an invisible force, slowly converging toward a certain center.

But what was even more heart-palpitating was a sound.

It wasn't a sound in the physical sense, but a resonance that acted directly upon the Divine Soul, as if countless worlds were wailing, disintegrating, and screaming in despair.

The sound was so faint, yet it pierced through the Chaos so clearly, reaching the depths of everyone's consciousness.

"What is this?"

Xiao Robai and the others turned deathly pale; they felt the spiritual energy within their bodies becoming uncontrollably turbulent.

It was the natural suppression felt by lower-order life forms when facing a higher-level existence.

Then, they saw it.

In the center of the vortex, a massive silhouette slowly emerged.

At first, it was just a blurry shadow, but as its full form gradually became clear, everyone gasped.

That thing could hardly be called a living creature; it was more like a nightmare condensed from the Chaos itself.

Its size was so immense it was comparable to a medium-scale Great World, and the shadow it cast was enough to shroud several Star Domains.

Every breath it took stirred up a Chaos storm.

And in front of it was a world that was still faintly glowing, its world barrier already covered in cracks.

And in front of it was a world that was still faintly glowing, its world barrier already covered in cracks.

Through those cracks, one could sense an indescribable despair emanating from within.

Stars fell, continents collapsed, and oceans boiled and evaporated as living beings let out their final, silent wails before the impending doom.

It was the most piercing lament sent into the void by an entire civilization, an entire ecosystem, and an entire world consciousness before their total extinction.

With every bit the light dimmed, that desperate wail grew weaker, as if a vibrant life was being drained of all its vitality and hope while still alive.

It was being torn and stretched by an invisible force, turning into a desperate stream of light that flowed continuously into the thing's gaping maw.

It was the scene of a world being devoured alive.

"The... the Void World-Devouring Beast."

Mo Yu's pupils constricted to the limit as a fragment of his Legacy memory was activated.

"A legendary Chaos calamity that feeds on worlds. At birth, it is already at the Immortal King Realm; upon reaching maturity, it is comparable to an Immortal Emperor, or even stronger."

The words 'Immortal King' struck everyone's hearts like a heavy hammer.

They were now very clear about the divisions of the Immortal Path Realms: True Immortal, Earth Immortal, Heavenly Immortal, Immortal Lord, Immortal King... the gap between each major Realm was like a heavenly chasm.

Little White was now at the Peak of the Heavenly Immortal Realm, enough to suppress a Major Thousand World, but before an Immortal King—

The mere pressure emanating from the devouring beast's existence caused every one of Little White's dragon scales to let out a groan of being overwhelmed.

And right then—

The devouring beast seemed to have noticed something and stopped swallowing.

It slowly, very slowly, turned its eyeballs—which were larger than stars—casting a cold, emotionless gaze.

Like physical ice picks, it pierced through the Chaos and accurately locked onto the group.

"ROAR——!!!!!!!!"

A silent roar exploded within the Chaos; there was no sound, yet everyone felt as if their Divine Souls had been struck hard by a heavy hammer.

Xiao Robai, Wang Xiaopang, and the others simultaneously bled from the corners of their mouths; Little White let out a pained groan as golden blood oozed from between its dragon scales.

Then, the Void World-Devouring Beast moved.

It didn't clumsily charge over; the movement of an existence of that level had already transcended the physical Realm.

The Chaos region for hundreds of millions of miles around instantly froze.

Countless translucent tentacles, condensed from shattered Laws and Chaos Qi, reached out from the Void Realm, weaving into a devouring net that covered and sealed everything.

Once caught in the net, even a complete Major World would be decomposed and digested in a short time, becoming its nourishment.

The net slowly closed in toward the black dragon and Gu Changge's party.

Little White tried its best to flap its wings and escape, only to find that the surrounding space had already become as solid as an iron plate.

Ling Xi closed her eyes, her fingers digging deep into her palms.

Fang Hanyu's sword vibrated frantically in its sheath, yet he was unable to draw it.

At the very moment the giant net was about to close—

Gu Changge opened his eyes and raised his right hand toward the world-covering devouring net and the terrifying beast as large as a world behind it—

He gave a gentle squeeze.

"Still."

A single word.

It was plain and simple, without any Aura or fluctuation, not even causing a ripple in the Chaos Qi currents.

But that giant net, capable of devouring worlds, froze a thousand miles away from the black dragon.

In the next second, a beam of light spread from Gu Changge's fingertip, streaked through the Chaos, and entered the devouring beast's massive body.

Immediately after, the devouring beast's world-sized body began to decompose silently, starting from its head.

It turned into the most primitive Chaos Qi, returning to this void.

The entire process was terrifyingly quiet.

That calamity, at least of the Immortal King level, which made even the Peak of the Heavenly Immortal Realm tremble in soul and could easily devour worlds—

It didn't even have time to let out a wail before dissipating into nothingness under Gu Changge's casual stroke.

The frozen Chaos began to flow once more.

The Chaos ahead was empty, leaving only that world which had just been half-devoured and was on the brink of collapse, still emitting a faint wailing light.

Atop the black dragon's back, there was dead silence.

Xiao Robai's body was still trembling slightly, but it wasn't out of fear; it was an uncontrollable physical instinct following an extreme shock.

Fang Hanyu's hand finally gripped his sword hilt, only to find his palm drenched in cold sweat; just now, he hadn't even been able to conceive the thought of 'drawing his sword.'

In Little White's massive dragon pupils was the reflection of the empty Chaos ahead and the white-robed figure sitting calmly on the dragon's head, whose clothes hadn't even ruffled.

It suddenly remembered a long time ago, when it was still a Flood Dragon, the first time it met its master.

Back then, it felt that its master was like a mountain or a Peak.

Now, it understood.

Mountains and Peaks have an end.

But its master did not.

Ling Xi slowly opened her eyes, looking at Gu Changge's back. Something flickered intensely in her eyes, finally turning into a nearly inaudible sigh.

Gu Changge ignored everyone's reactions; his gaze fell upon the place where the devouring beast had vanished.

His fingers beneath his sleeves moved rapidly, forming an extremely profound Ancient Seal, which he silently pressed toward the spot where the devouring beast had dissipated and toward his own position.
