227: Soul grafting!
This was a death trap, meticulously prepared for Su Lei.
Meanwhile, in Xinghui City, ten thousand meters underground, in the geo-center shelter.
This place was once Qin Wuyan's private kingdom of desires, but now, every inch of its cold metal walls was branded with the New Federation's emblem.
Li Xue凝, dressed in an immaculate white gown, walked through this steel Hell that had just been cleansed, like an Ice Phoenix lotus blooming by the abyss.
The Ice Phoenix Gang Qi naturally emanating from her formed an invisible barrier.
Su Lei was heading to the unknown Void Realm, searching for a glimmer of hope.
As for her, she had taken on another equally arduous task: to thoroughly analyze and liquidate the vast and evil legacy left behind by Qin Wuyan.
Here, she needed to unearth the root of all Qin Wuyan's insane plans, liquidate all potential lingering problems he might have left, and at the same time, like extracting juice from sugarcane, squeeze out any technology from this soil steeped in sin that might be beneficial for the seemingly unwinnable war in the future.
She was currently in the main control room of the geo-center shelter.
Before her were dozens of massive screens made of pure light, on which a colossal amount of experimental data was scrolling frantically at an terrifying speed of billions of bytes per second.
All of this was core data from the Demonic Transformation Project.
Li Xue凝 watched calmly, categorizing all the data and importing it into the Academy of Sciences' central server for in-depth analysis.
Just as she was about to finish archiving all the main data and prepare to end her day's work, a faint, almost imperceptible static suddenly appeared in her Sea of Consciousness.
It was a hidden data stream, encrypted ninety-nine times and cleverly disguised as meaningless redundant information.
It was like a ghost that had been dormant for a long time, silently lurking in the deepest part of the vast Sea of Data, as quiet as the Universe's background radiation.
If Li Xue凝 had not just condensed the prototype of her Domain, making her Mental Energy perception unprecedentedly sharp and giving her an extraordinary intuition for the flow of energy and information, she would never have noticed this extremely faint anomaly.
A sharp glint flashed in her eyes, and she immediately isolated this ghost file from the massive database.
The Academy of Sciences' top expert team was urgently assembled; they used every technical means to try and crack it, but were horrified to discover that the underlying logic of this seemingly impenetrable encryption protocol was not based on pure mathematics or programming algorithms, but was tightly bound to a very unique Mental Energy fluctuation.
That was Qin Wuyan's exclusive mark, the imprint of his Soul.
"I'll do it."
Li Xue凝 dismissed everyone, leaving only herself in the large main control room.
She slowly extended her slender, jade-white fingers, gently touching the light screen that represented the top-secret file.
In an instant, the Ice Phoenix Domain prototype silently unfolded!
A supremely cold and pure Mental Energy surged from her Sea of Consciousness, transforming into billions of invisible ice crystal tendrils, probing thread by thread into the encryption core of that file.
Time passed, minute by minute.
Finally, just as her Mental Energy was about to be depleted, and waves of dizziness began to appear before her eyes.
The lock opened.
The content inside was only a few short pages, yet it caused Li Xue凝, who was accustomed to all sorts of terrifying experimental records and whose heart was as hard as iron, to feel a bone-chilling coldness from the depths of her Soul.
More than a file, it was a diary—Qin Wuyan's personal diary, hiding his greatest secret.
The title of the diary had only four characters, yet it exuded a Heaven-Defying madness.
"Divine Soul Grafting"
The first page bore Qin Wuyan's extremely arrogant handwriting.
"The Mortal body has its limits. Power and lifespan are both shackles. This flesh and blood body is nothing but a magnificent cage."
"Though I stand at the pinnacle of this world, looking down upon all beings, I still cannot escape the ultimate chain called time."
"But a God should have no shackles."
"I will create a perfect Incarnation. It will possess my will, my wisdom, yet be free from the constraints of the Mortal Physical Body, eternally immortal."
"It will patrol the skies for me, it will be my eternal eyes and sharp sword, it will be the first cornerstone upon which I ascend to the Divine Throne!"
In the subsequent diary entries, Qin Wuyan meticulously recorded his utterly deranged concept.
He wanted to forcibly graft a wisp of his Divine Soul Origin onto one of the most supreme flying Demonic Beasts in the world.
The target he chose was a Netherwind Peng, captured in the perpetually frozen polar storms of the Northern Realm, which had lived for a thousand years and was on the verge of ascending to a higher life form!
This type of Demonic Beast was naturally capable of manipulating spatial wind blades, its speed was as swift as lightning, and after reaching adulthood, its Physical Body could traverse the Void Realm, making it the undisputed king and overlord of the skies.
Qin Wuyan used every power at his disposal, set up an inescapable net, and paid a heavy price, ultimately capturing the proud Netherwind Peng alive and bringing it back to the geo-center shelter.
He used the most cruel methods, tormenting it day after day, attempting to wear down its inherent proud will, a will befitting an overlord of the skies.
Then, on a night when a blood moon hung high, he initiated the blasphemous grafting ritual.
He forcibly stripped a wisp from his own Soul Origin; the pain was no less than having his Soul torn in half alive.
He attempted to forcibly inject this wisp of Soul, carrying all his ambition and desire, into the Netherwind Peng's beast core, which shone like a star, to usurp its body.
However, he ultimately underestimated the pride and ferocity of a thousand-year-old Demonic Beast.
The moment Qin Wuyan's Soul invaded the beast core, the already dying Netherwind Peng unleashed its last and most tragic resistance.
Its beast core chose to self-destruct!
Two equally powerful wills—one, the human tyrant's desire to control everything, and the other, the sky overlord's free Soul that would rather be destroyed than enslaved—collided most fiercely within that small beast core.
"Failed."
The last page of the diary contained only these three short words.
The handwriting was scrawled, even penetrating the paper, clearly conveying Qin Wuyan's towering rage and unwillingness at that time, which almost seemed capable of overturning the entire geo-center shelter.
The energy explosion caused by that failed experiment completely destroyed an entire A-grade laboratory in the deepest part of the geo-center shelter.
And the product of that failed Fusion, an extremely unstable embryo that belonged neither entirely to Qin Wuyan nor entirely to the Netherwind Peng, was personally sealed by him in a special life-support pod, coldly labeled as "Waste Product 731."
