286: Awakening Hunter

What he had to do was purify.

Purify all competitors who participated in the game with him.

Whether it was the Star Lord, who had completely fallen after fusing with error.

Or Su Lei, who was full of variables and was the greatest disturbance himself.

When he was the only player left on the entire chessboard, the so-called crown of the era would naturally become his.

Then, he would personally purify this item, which also belonged to error, along with this entire defiled Kindling, letting everything return to absolute order and nothingness.

"All Purifier units, activate hunting mode."

The Timelord issued a new command.

The ocean formed by countless golden cyclops lit up simultaneously, shining brightly.

"Target One: Star Creature Fleet. Error Rank: Extremely High.

Processing Method: Complete Annihilation."

"Target Two: Federation Human Fleet. Error Rank: High.

Processing Method: Complete Purifier."

"Mission: Search, Engage, then Execute Purifier."

"In the face of absolute order, all struggles are meaningless."

As the command was issued, the massive Purifier Legion began to move.

They broke down into small teams of a hundred, scattering like the most efficient hounds, quietly leaving the Continent of Bones and infiltrating every corner of this new world.

Just as the three factions were each preparing for war, accumulating strength for the impending collision, none of them noticed that the Kindling's violent internal reorganization, like a deep breath, not only awakened the dormant automated shipyards but also touched certain older existences sealed in the river of time.

On the outermost edge of the City of Oblivion, a ruin belt composed of countless broken star rings and shattered temples.

This was once the Kindling's VIP living area, but now, like other areas, it had been rendered unrecognizable by the reshaping of Law.

A hibernation center, buried deep beneath the ruins and crafted from special memory alloy, had its energy indicator light flicker faintly for the first time after hundreds of millions of years of silence.

Immediately following, the frost on the surface of three silver-white hibernation pods, arranged in a triangular pattern, began to slowly melt.

Hiss... accompanied by a slight depressurization sound, the hatch of one of the hibernation pods silently slid open.

Stepping out was a tall, slender man.

He wore an outdated but still well-tailored black trench coat, its collar pulled high, obscuring half his face.

He had short, silver-white hair and skin so pale it was almost transparent, as if he hadn't seen sunlight in years.

He stepped out of the hibernation pod, barefoot, onto the cold metal floor, and the first thing he did was pull an old, brass coin from the inside pocket of his trench coat.

He tossed the coin high, letting it tumble in the air, then caught it steadily with the back of his hand.

"Heads, we're still alive."

He opened his palm, and on the face of the coin was clearly an engraving of a ferry and the River Styx.

"Looks like our luck isn't too bad."

He put away the coin and turned to look at the other two already opened hibernation pods.

Stepping out of the second hibernation pod was a woman with a fiery figure, dressed in a red, tight-fitting leather suit.

She had a waterfall of burning red hair, a delicate black spider tattooed beneath the corner of her eye, and exuded a wild and dangerous aura.

She stretched her neck, which was a bit stiff from the long slumber.

"Charon, how long have we been asleep?"

The silver-haired man called Charon looked up at the astronomical time reading on the hibernation pod's screen and slowly spoke.

"If this timer isn't broken, roughly, a little over an era."

"An era?"

The red-haired woman whistled, "Ha, I knew I felt hungry. How many handsome men did I miss?"

Charon ignored her joke, his gaze turning to the third hibernation pod.

Stepping out of it was an existence with a completely different style from the previous two.

It was a giant over four meters tall, composed of countless irregular rocks and crystals.

Its body was not flesh and blood, yet it exuded a strong life aura.

It had no facial features; in place of its face, there was only a huge energy crystal emitting a soft blue light, like its eye.

"Shui Gu."

Charon softly called.

The rock giant nodded silently in response.

He walked to Charon's side, standing quietly like the most loyal bodyguard.

"Alright, since everyone's awake, it's time to figure out what's going on."

The red-haired woman stretched, revealing her breathtaking curves.

"Weren't we on the Star Sea Wanderer, pursuing the legendary Kindling? How did we wake up in this godforsaken place?"

"This is the Kindling."

Charon's answer made the relaxed expression on the red-haired woman's face freeze for the first time.

He reached out and gently touched the wall beside him.

"I can feel it, this ship has come alive. And it's undergoing some kind of drastic change that we can't comprehend."

His finger traced the wall, leaving a shallow mark.

From that mark, a faint trace of energy, not belonging to this ship, escaped.

"And, some uninvited guests."

Charon brought his finger, stained with that trace of energy, to his nose and sniffed lightly.

"Hmm, a mechanical energy full of order and decay, a Divine Power full of greed and the scent of stars, and another, very complex, very young, yet carrying an ancient aura that even makes my heart palpitate."

He accurately distinguished the energy characteristics of the three factions.

"It seems many interesting stories happened outside while we were asleep."

The red-haired woman licked her lips: "So, this legendary ark has become someone else's battlefield?"

"More precisely, a gladiatorial arena designated by a higher existence."

Charon slowly said, "I can feel a supreme will, enveloping this place, establishing new Laws."

"A treasure hunt, with a certain token as the goal."

"Treasure hunt?"

The red-haired woman laughed, shaking with mirth, "Ha! This is our specialty!"

They were not prisoners, nor were they the original inhabitants of the Kindling.

They were the most renowned relic hunter team of the last era, traversing the star sea.

The man in charge, Charon, possessed the special ability to empathize with any energy and any Soul, making him the best tracker and analyst.

The red-haired woman, code-named Black Widow, was a deadly assassin and Great Master of traps; her body was the most dangerous weapon.
