22: Chapter 22 Admission Criteria
"Brother, good luck, get into a Martial Arts University."
"I was still thinking about you giving me lots and lots of pocket money."
Qin Xiaoxi clenched her little fists and cheered for Qin Yan.
"Okay."
Qin Yan walked into the examination hall.
The 7th was a full day of written exams, and Qin Yan had been studying his academics diligently during this time.
Getting over 9 points was impossible.
But he was confident about getting over 7 points.
The 8th.
Qi and Martial Arts Skill testing took place.
Qin Yan was already familiar with this, so naturally, there wouldn't be any problems.
When the last examinee walked out of the martial arts examination hall, it felt as if an era had quietly come to an end.
Twelve years of hard study, countless days and nights of sweat and struggle, all condensed into fixed scores at this moment.
The watershed of life was now clearly visible.
...
The College Entrance Examination results were released four days after the exam.
The evening of June 13th.
Guanlan Residential Complex, Qin Yan's home.
"Qin Yan! Hurry up! You're driving me crazy with anxiety!"
Qin Xiaoxi circled around her brother, who was leisurely entering his identification information, her little face filled with anxiety and anticipation.
"What's the rush? The results aren't going to run away."
Qin Yan remained calm and composed, checking the information carefully before clicking the "Query" button.
The page redirected, and after the loading circle spun for a few seconds, a clear results table appeared:
Name: Qin Yan
Qi: 99 Cal
Spear Technique: 10 points
Academics: 81 points
"99 Cal of Qi! Full marks of 10 for Martial Arts Skill! 81 for Academics?!"
Qin Xiaoxi scanned the report card, her big eyes instantly widening until they were perfectly round, as if they were about to pop out of their sockets.
She rubbed her eyes in disbelief, leaned closer to the screen to check several times, and after confirming the numbers hadn't changed, she exclaimed: "Oh my god! Qin Yan! How... how did you manage to get these scores?!"
The family knew Qin Yan had good grades and had hoped he might get into a key Martial Arts University, but no one expected the final scores to be so outrageously high!
This was completely beyond their scope of understanding!
"Can't help it, your brother is a one-in-a-million martial arts prodigy."
Qin Yan looked at his family's shocked expressions, smiled, and explained using the excuse he had prepared long ago: "Plus, I got lucky, gained Director Wan's appreciation and resource support, so you could say... I've soared to success."
Qin Father and Qin Mother looked at the dazzling scores on the screen, their hands trembling with excitement. For a moment, they didn't know what to say, just staring at the results repeatedly, their eyes becoming slightly warm.
"Brother! Doesn't that mean you can get into a Top-tier Martial Arts University?!"
Qin Xiaoxi was the first to snap out of her shock, excitedly grabbing Qin Yan's arm, her eyes seemingly sparkling with stars.
"Yeah, if nothing unexpected happens, it shouldn't be a problem." Qin Yan nodded.
Today was not only the day results were released, but major Martial Arts Universities would also synchronously update their official websites to announce this year's admission standards.
Qin Yan clicked on the Modu University of Martial Arts official website to check the relevant information.
Modu University of Martial Arts 225 Admission Standards:
Qi: Above 90 Cal (including 90 Cal)
Martial Arts Skill: 9 points (including 90 points)
Academics: Above 7 points
Note 1: For 99 Cal of Qi or 10 points in Martial Arts Skill, admission standards for other subjects may be lowered at discretion, and admission will be considered at discretion.
Note 2: Admission is based on merit, with priority given to Qi, Martial Arts Skill, and Academic scores in that order.
...
The admission standards for Modu University of Martial Arts were exactly the same as last year.
In fact, it wasn't just Modu University of Martial Arts; many Martial Arts Universities had admission standards like this.
This meant that every Martial Arts University's admission standards from last year could be used as a reference for this year.
Qin Yan looked it over; with these scores, he could safely and securely get into Modu University of Martial Arts.
Thinking of this, Qin Yan then thought of Jingdu University of Martial Arts.
He acted on the thought, opening Jingdu University of Martial Arts's admission standards.
Jingdu University of Martial Arts 225 Admission Standards:
Qi: Above 91 Cal (including 91 Cal)
Martial Arts Skill: 92 points (including 92 points)
Academics: Above 7 points
Note 1: For 99 Cal of Qi or 10 points in Martial Arts Skill, admission standards for other subjects may be lowered at discretion, and admission will be considered at discretion.
Note 2: Admission is based on merit, with priority given to Qi, Martial Arts Skill, and Academic scores in that order.
...
"Huh? Jingdu University of Martial Arts's standards..." Qin Yan raised an eyebrow slightly. "The Qi requirement is one Cal higher than Modu University of Martial Arts, and the Martial Arts Skill requirement is two points higher?"
He suddenly remembered seeing a short news item three months ago—an Exchange Competition between Modu University of Martial Arts and Jingdu University of Martial Arts, where Modu University of Martial Arts was soundly defeated.
"Could that be the reason?" Qin Yan guessed to himself.
His information channels were still too limited; he knew very little about the open and secret struggles or the fluctuations in strength between top-tier institutions.
"Brother! You are amazing!"
Qin Xiaoxi's cheer interrupted his train of thought. "A Top-tier Martial Arts University! It's been many, many years since our Linhai City produced a student who could get into a Top-tier Martial Arts University! Before long, you'll be a celebrity! And I'll be a celebrity's sister! Hahaha!"
Looking at their excited daughter and calm son, the parents' faces were also brimming with proud and happy smiles.
That night, the Qin household was filled with laughter.
...
The next day, the principal's office.
Ever since Qin Yan revealed his top-tier potential, this place had almost become a permanent base for him and Director Wan.
Principal Wu Ming thought to himself: Darn it.
But today, the smile on his face was genuinely radiant.
Because Qin Yan brought definite, shockingly good news—99 Cal of Qi! Full marks for Martial Arts Skill!
Wan Xueping and Wu Ming looked at those impeccable scores, ecstatic!
Although they had expected it, only at this moment, when the dust had settled, did their hanging hearts truly return to their chests.
Wan Xueping seemed to see that with this heavy political achievement, he would be enough to defeat his rivals from the neighboring city in the promotion competition and step into the core of provincial-level power! His career was bright!
Wu Ming was equally overjoyed.
The First High School had cultivated a New Student for a Top-tier Martial Arts University; this honor would translate into tangible educational resource allocation!
In the coming years, or even decades, the source of students and quality of the First High School would be elevated to a new height!
"Xiao Yan, very good! You are even more outstanding than I imagined!"
Wan Xueping did not stint on his praise. "I originally thought you would just barely pass the line, but I didn't expect you to achieve such brilliant results! These scores of yours, placed among all the examinees in the country, definitely belong to the very top tier!"
The very top tier? Qin Yan felt a slight shock in his heart.
A near-perfect score was actually only "the top tier"?
