40: Chapter 4 An unexpected encounter with two women
There weren't many students coming and going on the road, but every person who passed by faintly exuded a refined and powerful aura.
Their gazes were sharp, and their steps were steady.
He could feel that these people were at least Second-Rank Martial Artists or higher.
"Those who can live here are indeed the true cream of the crop of every grade."
Qin Yan understood this clearly in his heart.
He also knew that the housing qualifications at Modu University of Martial Arts were not permanent; they were tied to one's ranking and strength.
Once a student's comprehensive ranking dropped and failed to meet the corresponding standard, they would be required to move out and make way for stronger students.
This omnipresent competition was exactly the source of Modu University of Martial Arts's vitality.
"Little Junior Brother! Over here, over here!"
Suddenly, a crisp, pleasant, and somewhat cheerful voice called out from not far away.
Qin Yan followed the sound and saw Lu Youyou standing outside the fence gate of a manor.
She was holding a small and exquisite suitcase, waving her arm vigorously at him.
Beside her stood that figure as cold as the moon—it was Xiao Wangshu.
Qin Yan pulled his suitcase and walked over.
"Hello, Senior Sister."
He first greeted Lu Youyou.
"Heehee, don't be so formal!"
"This is Xiao Wangshu, my best friend."
Lu Youyou introduced her enthusiastically, "Wangshu, this is the Junior Brother Qin Yan I mentioned to you yesterday."
"Hello, Classmate Xiao Wangshu."
Qin Yan looked at the cold young girl before him with a smile.
This was their second close encounter; the first had been on the train to the university.
Xiao Wangshu's cold gaze lingered on Qin Yan for a moment, and she gave a slight nod.
Her voice remained flat, but it held a bit less distance: "Hello, Qin Yan."
She also had a slight impression of Qin Yan.
After all, among this year's Freshmen, he was the only one besides herself whose Martial Arts Skill had reached the Third Stage.
"Little Junior Brother, what's your room number?"
Lu Youyou asked curiously, her large eyes sparkling. "Since we're all in the Heaven-grade Area now, I can drop by and visit you when I'm free, hhh."
"My room number is 111."
Qin Yan told her frankly.
"111? Not bad! Mine is 14."
Lu Youyou laughed.
The three of them then walked together deeper into the Heaven-grade Area.
Along the way, it was mostly Lu Youyou lively searching for topics of conversation.
Sometimes she complained about the trouble of moving, and sometimes she curiously asked about Qin Yan's past cultivation experiences.
Qin Yan responded with a smile, and although Xiao Wangshu didn't speak much, she would occasionally interject a word or two under Lu Youyou's lead.
Whether she was answering Lu Youyou's questions or not, the atmosphere didn't feel awkward.
Qin Yan discovered that Xiao Wangshu wasn't completely cold-hearted; it was just her personality—she was simply cold and introverted.
Soon, Xiao Wangshu, who was walking in front, stopped before an exceptionally elegant manor with a cluster of emerald bamboo planted in front of the gate.
The number "11" was clearly engraved on the doorplate.
"Number 11?"
Looking at the manor before him, Qin Yan knew this was the residence of the number one Freshman.
Xiao Wangshu nodded slightly to Lu Youyou and Qin Yan.
She then swiped her ID card to open the courtyard gate, and her figure disappeared into the depths of the lush green courtyard.
"Wangshu, remember to come over to my place once you're done unpacking!"
Lu Youyou shouted toward the gate.
"I know."
Xiao Wangshu's faint response came from inside the gate.
Only then did Lu Youyou continue walking forward contentedly.
After walking a bit further, she also stopped in front of a manor whose outer walls were covered in vibrant green vines, looking full of life.
"Number 14 is here!
Little Junior Brother, I live here. Just keep walking a bit further and you'll find your Number 111!
See you later!"
Lu Youyou waved at Qin Yan, opened her own manor gate, and skipped inside dragging her suitcase.
After bidding farewell to the two girls, Qin Yan continued forward alone.
Soon, he found his own Manor 111 in a relatively open and sunny location.
Walking up a few granite steps, the first thing that met his eyes was a small but exquisitely maintained front garden.
Several clusters of nameless flowers were just beginning to bud.
In the center of the garden was a small fountain pool with water so clear he could see the bottom, where several red Spirit Carps swam leisurely.
Qin Yan took a deep breath, walked to the heavy solid wood door, and brought the smart bracelet on his wrist close to the access control sensor.
"Beep! Identity verification passed.
Welcome home, Student Qin Yan."
A gentle electronic voice sounded.
The door slid open silently.
Qin Yan stepped inside, and the sight within immediately broadened his horizons.
The entrance was a spacious foyer with smooth marble floors.
Passing through the foyer led to a high-ceilinged hall, a full two stories high, with a magnificent crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
The hall's layout was simple yet stylish, with a set of leather sofas arranged around a coffee table and an exquisite fireplace against the wall.
What satisfied Qin Yan the most was that the entire west wall had been turned into floor-to-ceiling windows, looking out onto that small and exquisite garden, providing excellent lighting.
Qin Yan followed the spiral staircase to the second floor.
This floor was mainly the living area, including three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a study.
The master bedroom was exceptionally spacious and had a private balcony where one could overlook the entire garden's scenery.
The study was already equipped with a solid wood desk and bookshelf.
But what Qin Yan looked forward to the most was the Martial Arts Training Room located on the third floor.
When he pushed open the heavy soundproof door on the third floor, even though he was mentally prepared, he couldn't help but be shocked by the sight before him:
The entire third floor had been opened up into one massive training space, comparable in size to a small gymnasium.
The floor was covered with special cushioning material that felt soft and elastic underfoot.
Along the east wall, various weapon racks were neatly arranged, with sabers, spears, swords, and halberds—everything one could need, and all of high quality.
On the west side stood three different models of combat puppets.
The one on the far left was pitch black and was likely a basic training type, with strength equivalent to a First Grade Martial Artist.
The middle one was silver-white, an advanced sparring type with strength equivalent to a Second-Rank Martial Artist.
The one on the far right was dark gold and exuded a dangerous aura; it was a Third-Rank Martial Artist puppet.
Once he broke through to the fourth rank, he could also apply to the school for a replacement.
The open space in the center of the training room was the most spacious, enough to practice multiple martial arts techniques simultaneously.
The ceiling was filled with sensors that could monitor various data of the martial artist's body in real-time.
"Is this the treatment for a Heaven-tier manor?"
Qin Yan murmured to himself.
With such a cultivation environment, his training efficiency would surely increase greatly.
He left his suitcase in the bedroom and impatiently returned to the third-floor training room.
Standing in the center of the spacious training area, Qin Yan took a deep breath, picked up the long spear nearby, and began to practice eagerly.
He wanted to improve so badly!
