279: Chapter 279 Hundred Kill Formation!

The mansion was grand in scale, its overall appearance a deep and vibrant verdant green, as if carved from a single massive piece of ancient green jade brimming with vitality.

The architectural lines were soft and natural, with walls covered in shimmering emerald vines and exotic flowers.

Even after the passage of ages, it still radiated a majestic yet gentle aura of life.

The mansion's main gates were tightly shut, and above them hung an ancient-looking plaque bearing three flowing characters in ancient Elven script—Qinglin Mansion!

Twenty to thirty figures had already gathered in front of the mansion.

Among them, Elf Prodigies were the majority; they possessed extraordinary temperaments, some conversing in low voices, others closing their eyes to rest their minds.

In addition, a few prodigies from other races were mixed in, most of them possessing powerful auras and sharp gazes.

Qin Yan's gaze quickly swept through the crowd, but he didn't find any familiar human or Elven faces.

This was within the realm of reason.

The Canglin Ancient Peak region was vast and the teleportation was random; the probability of being teleported to the Northern World while also finding and arriving at Qinglin Mansion at a similar time was indeed very low.

The other prodigies under Anya's command might be scattered in other areas seeking opportunities, or perhaps they were on their way, or had already finished exploring and left.

“The interior of Qinglin Mansion is divided into two areas: the inner and outer layers.”

Su Liuli's voice rang out in Qin Yan's ear.

“In the outer layer, regardless of whether the challenge is successful or not, the trial-taker will only be teleported out; there is no danger to one's life.

Furthermore, the entry threshold is relatively low. Any race, as long as they reach a certain strength standard, can attempt to enter.”

“There is only one opportunity in the outer area, and that is what Her Highness Anya wants—the holy grail of life!”

Su Liuli's tone shifted, becoming somewhat playful. “However, the inner layer is completely different.

First, it only allows the Elf Clan to enter. The bloodline testing is extremely strict; if a non-Elf attempts to break in, they will be instantly and ruthlessly obliterated by the mansion's restrictions.”

“Secondly, what opportunities lie within the inner layer? No one knows.

Because since the appearance of the Jade Court, not a single Elf Prodigy has successfully passed the inner layer trial!”

“Every Elf Prodigy who tried to enter the inner layer... all failed. And the consequence of failure isn't being teleported out, but—direct death!

Their bones are ground to dust, and their souls are scattered!”

“For so many years, so many brilliant Elven geniuses have followed one after another, yet not a single one has succeeded...”

Su Liuli shook her head, the curve of her lips carrying a hint of cold mockery. “I must say, this first-generation Master of Qinglin Mansion was truly... ruthless and decisive toward his own descendants. Either you obtain his true inheritance, or... you die.”

Qin Yan listened silently, his face showing little emotion.

The secrets and cruelty of Qinglin Mansion had nothing to do with him, a human.

The core objective of his trip was clear and simple:

Enter the outer layer of Qinglin Mansion, obtain the holy grail of life, and then leave to explore other opportunities more suited to himself.

“Let’s go in.”

Su Liuli glanced at the prodigies of various races who were either sitting cross-legged to regulate their breathing, frowning in deep thought, or discussing in low voices.

She said to Qin Yan in a flat tone, “Those lingering outside are those who failed to pass Qinglin Mansion's most basic entry test; they don't even have the qualification to step into the first trial.”

Qin Yan nodded, not surprised by this.

It would be strange if just anyone could enter the inheritance grounds of one of the prestigious “Ten Mansions.”

The two no longer hesitated and walked side-by-side toward the jade mansion that radiated a tranquil yet vast aura of life.

When they stepped into the specific area within thirty feet of the mansion gates, a sudden change occurred!

Above the gates, the ancient plaque reading “Qinglin Mansion” lit up slightly.

Two gentle yet irresistible beams of greenish light descended from the air, accurately enveloping Qin Yan and Su Liuli!

The moment the light beams hit them, the two felt their bodies become light, as if wrapped and pulled by some soft power.

Immediately, their figures vanished within the greenish light, under the envious, jealous, or complex gazes of the many prodigies outside the gates.

...

Light and shadow shifted before his eyes, and the sensation of spatial displacement vanished in an instant.

When Qin Yan's vision cleared again, he found himself in an extremely wide, ancient square.

The square's floor was paved with a type of blue-gray giant stone, covered in marks of wear from the passage of time.

The ceiling was incredibly high, seemingly without end, with only a hazy green light falling down to illuminate the entire space.

Around the square stood dozens of thick stone pillars that would require several people to encircle with their arms.

The pillars were carved with exquisite reliefs of forests, elves, the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Though dilapidated, one could still feel the solemnity and beauty of years past.

However, Qin Yan immediately discovered that Su Liuli, who had entered with him, was not by his side.

The two of them were separated by hundreds of neatly arranged figures radiating a murderous aura.

These figures were not physical entities, but phantoms of Elven soldiers condensed from pure greenish energy!

Dressed in ancient Elven-style light armor, they held longswords and longbows.

Their eyes were hollow yet sharp; like the most loyal guards, they surrounded Qin Yan in an area in the center of the square.

On Su Liuli's side, she was clearly also surrounded by an equal number of phantoms.

“Elven Hundred-Kill Formation, activated.”

A majestic and rigid voice resounded directly above the square.

Following that, behind the phantoms surrounding Qin Yan, a distinct figure appeared.

It was an Elven mage phantom, also composed of energy but dressed in more ornate clothing, holding a wooden scepter embedded with emerald gems, and wearing a pure white Elven robe.

He looked down coldly at Qin Yan below.

“Kill!”

The White-Robed Elven Mage pointed his scepter forward and issued the attack command in a cold voice.

“Kill!”

“Kill!”

In front, more than fifty warrior phantoms holding Elven longswords that gleamed with cold light roared in unison, charging toward Qin Yan from all directions!

Their steps were synchronized, their sword tips pointed forward, carrying a chilling intent!

At the same time, the remaining dozens of archer phantoms in the rear had already drawn their bows; sharp energy arrows were locked onto Qin Yan, ready to be released!

“Good timing! Just what I wanted!”

There was no fear in Qin Yan's eyes; instead, a raging battle intent ignited.

He gave a low shout, and the Ink-Marked Spear in his hand vibrated, letting out a clear, trembling hum.

His figure moved like lightning; instead of retreating, he advanced, charging straight into the flood of sword shadows lunging from the front!

“Clang! Clang! Clang! Chii! Bang!”

In an instant, the sound of clashing metal and exploding energy resounded throughout the square!

Qin Yan could be seen weaving, parrying, and counterattacking amidst dozens of sword lights!

Even more shocking was that he didn't even dodge, allowing those attacks to land on his body!

Sword blades and the occasional emerald energy arrows from the rear hacked and pierced solidly into his arms, shoulders, and back!

However, the expected sight of mangled flesh did not appear.
