213: Dark shadow on the sofa

"Escape?"

Lu Chuan's face was filled with surprise and confusion.

He looked at Ding Xinyang and asked,

"Why should we escape?"

Ding Xinyang pointed to the bag containing the notebook and the blood-stained photo, his expression quite dramatic.

Lu Chuan shook his head, patted Ding Xinyang's shoulder again, and then continued to search the room.

Watching Lu Chuan not only not run, but act as if he owned the place, casually rummaging through everything, Ding Xinyang felt an unutterable bitterness. He could only look at He Jingrui, hoping He Jingrui could help persuade him.

But when he turned his head, He Jingrui was already rummaging through the food in the refrigerator.

"..."

Forget it, whatever happens, happens.

Ding Xinyang felt exhausted and collapsed onto the sofa.

But the next moment, he shrieked, springing up like a coiled spring.

"What's wrong?"

Lu Chuan, hearing the commotion, rushed out of the bedroom.

He then saw Ding Xinyang, scared like a little girl, screaming and stomping his feet.

"..."

Lu Chuan walked over, speechless, and patted his shoulder.

"What's up?"

Ding Xinyang pointed at the sofa with a terrified expression, his voice disjointed from fear.

"There's... there's something... something moving in... in the sofa!"

Hearing this, Lu Chuan's expression immediately turned serious, and he pulled Ding Xinyang back, retreating steadily.

Meanwhile, He Jingrui had already transformed into a descending tiger, pouncing towards the sofa.

Before he even reached it, a formidable aura had already enveloped the entire room.

One punch, just one punch, and the faux leather sofa exploded into splinters.

But as the splinters exploded, a dark shadow shot out from within, not wasting a single moment, and rushed towards the outside of the house.

Its speed was incredibly fast; Ding Xinyang couldn't even make out its appearance.

But Lu Chuan and He Jingrui saw it clearly.

It was a humanoid monster.

Its head was keratinized and had a pair of antennae.

Its upper body was covered in a hard shell, while its lower body consisted of a pair of legs covered in barbs, with tarsi, metatarsi, and claws at the ends of its legs.

Lu Chuan found it familiar and couldn't help but glance at the bag on the floor.

Wasn't this one of the figures in that blood-stained photo?

His eyebrow twitched, and he quickly shouted to He Jingrui,

"Catch it!"

Actually, He Jingrui had already given chase without being told.

Soon, Lu Chuan and Ding Xinyang heard a series of sounds of fighting from the hallway outside.

It was a fierce clatter.

However, just as Ding Xinyang was listening with trepidation, the fighting sounds abruptly stopped, accompanied by a mournful shriek.

Then, from far to near in the hallway, came the sound of footsteps dragging a heavy object.

Before long, He Jingrui's figure appeared at the doorway, clutching a claw in his hand.

The owner of the claw was now completely limp and powerless, allowing He Jingrui to drag it. Its monstrous face clearly showed three parts confusion, six parts terror, and one part anger.

"I've broken all its bones, and just to be safe, I've also dislocated its joints. It shouldn't be able to resist anymore."

He Jingrui casually tossed it into the living room, to the spot where the sofa had been.

Lu Chuan nodded, then squatted down and poked the humanoid monster with a wooden leg from the sofa, a look of disgust and surprise on his face.

"It couldn't be this ugly thing that lured us here using the Mi Zong Huan Ying account, could it?"

After witnessing He Jingrui's combat power firsthand, Ding Xinyang was no longer so afraid. Instead, he had become somewhat overstimulated, growing exceptionally excited.

He also squatted down on the other side, imitating Lu Chuan, and poked the monster with a sofa leg, making clicking sounds with his mouth.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, I really have to say, I used to only see these monsters in movies and TV shows, but seeing them in reality is quite novel, huh?"

Seeing both of them squat down, He Jingrui thought for a moment, then simply squatted down as well, picking up a third sofa leg and joining in the poking of the monster.

Monster: "..."

Perhaps it couldn't bear such humiliation, or perhaps it knew it wouldn't come to a good end.

Its insect-like mouthparts clicked together, and it spoke in extremely awkward Chinese.

"You people, very, very detestable. My comrades will definitely avenge me!"

It was fine if it didn't speak, but as soon as it did, Lu Chuan and the other two were instantly startled by its highly recognizable accent.

"Holy moly, it's a Little devils version of a monster!"

Ding Xinyang let out a startled cry, and the thick sofa leg in his hand couldn't help but smash down.

"Hiss!!!!"

The monster cried out in pain, its mouthparts opening and closing as it let out waves of malicious curses.

However, Ding Xinyang didn't understand what the Little devils were saying, but he knew the other party wasn't saying anything good, so he immediately gave the monster a good beating with the sofa leg.

Before long, the monster was covered in bruises and began to whimper for mercy.

Seeing this, Ding Xinyang finally panted heavily and stopped hitting it.

Lu Chuan smiled, shook his head, then looked at the monster and asked directly,

"Was it you who used the Mi Zong Huan Ying account to trick us into coming here?"

The monster remained silent, turning its head to the side.

Then it saw He Jingrui silently pick up a sofa leg and weigh it in his hand, assessing its weight and hardness.

This thoroughly terrified the monster, which had just received a good beating. It quickly looked up at Lu Chuan and said anxiously,

"Yes, it was me!"

Hearing this, Lu Chuan continued to ask,

"Was Mi Zong Huan Ying harmed by you? What was your purpose in using his identity to trick others into coming here?"

The monster saw that Lu Chuan's expression wasn't right, and immediately became even more cowardly, quickly replying,

"He refused to cooperate with me in tricking people, so one of my companions took him away as a plaything. As for me tricking people, I wanted to pass the time."

Lu Chuan nodded, not knowing whether he believed it or not, but he quickly asked the next questions.

"What's going on with your appearance? From your accent, you seem to come from an island nation? What are you and the others doing in Modu at this time?"

Three questions, each asked more urgently than the last.

When Lu Chuan finished asking the questions, he stared intently at the monster's vertical pupils, as if to determine whether the monster was lying by this method.

And the monster, listening to these three questions from Lu Chuan, couldn't help but show a conflicted expression.

The questions Lu Chuan asked before were fine, only related to some of its personal special hobbies.

But these three questions now involved something much more serious.

If it answered poorly, not only would their plan for this trip fail, but it might even cause their great empire, already suffering from the ravages of exotic beasts, to also endure the angry retaliation of this country beneath their feet.

But if it didn't answer, it was afraid... The monster watched He Jingrui swing the sofa leg, the series of mournful howls that erupted in the air, and its heart immediately skipped two beats.

Why is this man so strong?

Why is he so much stronger than us, these super gene-modified warriors?!

This is unfair!!!
