79: Damn bird, pee quickly!

Although the distance was quite far, Lu Chuan's eyesight was much better than before, and he could still make out He Jingrui's general condition.

He Jingrui's body was enveloped in a mist that was now almost imperceptible, and his movements had become a bit more human-like.

Seeing this, Lu Chuan felt a great sense of relief.

However, when he saw He Jingrui eating, he inexplicably became uneasy again.

How to put it, it was just too messy.

He looked like a starving ghost who hadn't eaten in hundreds of years!

The way he was wolfing it down was simply unbearable to watch!

If it weren't for the takeout boxes and stones being inedible, he probably would have devoured everything!

A few minutes later, after all the food was consumed, He Jingrui quieted down.

He sat there in a daze, his face alternating between confusion and clarity.

After a few more minutes, he suddenly shivered, abruptly sat up from the ground, and then paced back and forth like a headless fly.

"What's the situation now? Is he better or not?"

Watching He Jingrui's actions, Lu Chuan was completely bewildered.

He could only patiently continue to watch.

It wasn't until he saw He Jingrui scratch his head like an idiot, then trot off to the side to relieve himself, that he was convinced He Jingrui had probably returned to normal.

Lu Chuan relaxed and quickly emerged from his hiding place.

If he hid any longer, he was truly afraid this simpleton would run off again, and if he ran into a dangerous place, it would be real trouble.

He Jingrui was perhaps too focused on relieving himself, or perhaps his brain wasn't fully functional yet after just waking up.

Even when Lu Chuan approached within a meter behind him, he still didn't notice.

Lu Chuan looked with disdain at He Jingrui's attire, which was even messier than a beggar's, and called out from a distance:

"Hey! He Jingrui!"

But as soon as the words left his mouth, a scene miraculously flashed through his mind.

Lu Chuan's expression changed, and he quickly dodged to the side.

Sure enough, He Jingrui, whose name was called, shuddered and instinctively turned around.

The next moment, a stream of water shot straight towards where Lu Chuan had been standing.

"!"

"!!!"

Lu Chuan, who had a slight obsession with cleanliness, was only thankful he dodged quickly, otherwise he would have been murderous.

Meanwhile, He Jingrui had awkwardly turned back around, even foolishly shouting at his little brother:

"Stupid bird, pee!"

Lu Chuan sighed, rubbing his forehead.

"..."

A few minutes later, Lu Chuan and He Jingrui began conversing, maintaining a three-meter distance.

However, He Jingrui, who was usually quite talkative, was clearly dissatisfied with this talking distance.

"Hey, hey, hey, is it really necessary? For us brothers to meet in a place like this, what a deep fate! Can't we get a little closer to chat and bond?"

Lu Chuan refused, stating that this distance was precisely measured by him; too far and communication would be difficult, too close and he would feel unilaterally uncomfortable.

"This distance is fine. Stop with the nonsense. How did you end up here, and become... that ghostly appearance you had before!"

He Jingrui scratched his scalp, and a flurry of snowflakes fell, making Lu Chuan's eyes twitch.

"At that time, wasn't I answering the team's satellite phone? So I hurriedly rode the tricycle to take you home. When I left, you even gave me two lunchboxes."

"Those two lunchboxes were really delicious. I ate them as I walked, and by the time I reached the bus stop, I had finished them. Now that I think about it, I wish I had asked you to make more then."

He Jingrui licked his lips, then suddenly remembered something, his eyes lit up, and he looked at Lu Chuan, asking:

"Hey, Lu Chuan, last time you said you'd treat me to a meal if we met again. You can't go back on your word!"

Lu Chuan said through gritted teeth:

"Get to the point! Don't drag in irrelevant things!"

"How is it irrelevant? It's clearly very important!"

He Jingrui shrugged helplessly and continued:

"Later, I rushed back to the team. The team was having a meeting then, and I was called in without even a sip of water..."

Lu Chuan painfully slapped his forehead, thinking he would soon hear the main point, and continued to endure.

Ten minutes later,

"That guy with glasses was so cool at the time, you know, Smiling Tiger... Oh right, Smiling Tiger is the base commander. This guy, Smiling Tiger, is really fierce, but in front of the guy with glasses, he's like a cat..."

Twenty minutes later,

"Hey, where was I? Oh, oh right, our squad parachuted behind enemy lines, and then Squad Leader Ban Yangming... Speaking of our Squad Leader, he's a legend just like Captain Gao Lingfeng. Do you want to hear his story? Hey, why do you look so bad?"

Lu Chuan's teeth ground loudly, and looking at He Jingrui shaking his head, he wished he could throw a shoe at him, but he was afraid He Jingrui would pick it up and wear it, which would only benefit him.

"Not interested! Don't interrupt!!! Keep going!!!"

"Why so fierce!"

He Jingrui pouted unhappily, sighed deeply, and could only continue his story.

The lengthy story finally got to the point.

A magnificent, epic war, sounding like thirty million people participated, slowly unfolded, making Lu Chuan frown.

But looking at He Jingrui's slightly red eyes, he pursed his lips and patiently continued to listen.

Another ten minutes passed,

He Jingrui licked his somewhat dry lips and spread his hands, saying:

"...That's how I got in. When I woke up, you appeared."

Lu Chuan rolled his eyes at him.

"Something that could be told in a few minutes, you had to drag out for an hour! Fine, fine, I know the general process. So how did you turn into that state?"

He Jingrui scratched his scalp, and snowflakes fell once again.

He now understood what he had done during the time he was unconscious, based on what Lu Chuan said.

However, being carefree, he didn't care, and even felt somewhat grateful for that possessed state, otherwise he would have been dead long ago, and wouldn't have the chance to reminisce about past hardships and sweet memories here.

"I don't know either. You suddenly ask me, how would I know..."

Seeing He Jingrui's confused expression, Lu Chuan had to give him a few hints.

"When you came into this place, did you eat anything strange? Maybe those things caused you to become like this?"

He Jingrui pinched his chin, deep in thought.

"Is that so? Let me think... Hmm? Hmm, hmm hmm!? Hmm?! Hmph, hmph, hmph..."

It was fine at first, but later, listening to his increasingly steady breathing, Lu Chuan's face darkened.

"Sleep, you bigheaded ghost! How can you fall asleep! Get up!"

"Ah ah... Oh oh! Sorry, I get a little sleepy after eating!"

He Jingrui scratched his head, a sheepish smile on his face.

Lu Chuan became increasingly speechless, eventually almost explicitly stating it.

"Still the same question, did you eat anything strange, for example... a white lotus seedpod?"

"Is it delicious?"

He Jingrui couldn't help but drool, listening to Lu Chuan's description.

"..."

Lu Chuan rolled his eyes hard, giving up on communicating with He Jingrui, and asked the system in his mind.

"System, do people who recover from the 'Autophagy' state become stupid?"

"...It doesn't seem so. Perhaps your friend... is in a special situation."

The system was too polite, almost directly saying "idiot."
