57: On the show?
Lu Chuan truly kept his word; for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, he didn't give He Jingrui a single bite.
This made He Jingrui so angry that he kept rolling on the ground.
"Are you still messing around?"
Lu Chuan put the last box of mung bean paste into the tricycle's freezer, then turned around and asked.
Seeing that Lu Chuan was finally acknowledging him, He Jingrui, who had been on the verge of dying a second ago, immediately scurried over to Lu Chuan, wearing a fawning expression.
"No more messing around, no more messing around."
As the saying goes, when under someone else's roof, one has to bow their head.
There's another saying: people die for wealth, birds die for food.
Only those who understand the times are true heroes.
He Jingrui kept repeating these famous sayings and proverbs in his mind, and the smile on his face appeared very sincere.
Lu Chuan nodded with satisfaction, then gestured towards the kitchen with his chin.
"There's still an hour and a half until stall opening time, and it takes an hour to get there, so you only have half an hour to eat. Your dinner is in the kitchen; go get it yourself."
"Understood!"
He Jingrui was overjoyed and immediately scurried into the kitchen.
Before long, he emerged with a lavish four-dishes-and-one-soup spread and steaming hot rice, placing them on the dining table and digging in with gusto.
On the dining table, the standard four dishes and one soup were plentiful, with varied flavors, leaving He Jingrui's mouth slick with oil and utterly satisfied.
Perhaps it was because the food was too delicious, but at this moment, He Jingrui's favorable impression of Lu Chuan soared through the roof, and even his slight resentment towards Lu Chuan for deliberately teasing him vanished without a trace.
"Lu Chuan cooks so deliciously, and he's honest and dependable. How could he possibly deliberately tease me? It must be that I was too excessive, which made him angry."
Chewing on the delicious crispy duck slices, a hint of guilt unconsciously rose in He Jingrui's heart, and he couldn't help but cast a grateful look at Lu Chuan, who was waiting outside the door.
Lu Chuan happened to look up, and his gaze met He Jingrui's "affectionate" eyes for a split second.
He immediately got goosebumps and quickly buried his head back into watching short videos to cleanse his eyes... The tricycle sped along the road like the wind, drawing constant gazes from passing cars.
Lu Chuan nervously gripped the handlebars, asking from time to time.
"Isn't it too fast? Isn't it too fast? Do you want to slow down!"
He Jingrui gripped the handlebars with one hand, casually slicked back his hair with the other, and laughed heartily with a wide grin:
"No way, if we go slow, we won't make it to the stall on time!"
At these words, Lu Chuan's anger flared.
"It's all your fault! You said you'd finish by 5 o'clock, but you kept eating until 5:20, almost licking the oil off the plate clean!"
He Jingrui's dark face flushed, and he stammered:
"That's because your cooking is too delicious! Cleaning the plate is the highest compliment to a chef!"
Lu Chuan looked at the speedometer approaching 180 mph and then at the cars constantly being left behind, his scalp tingling.
He shouldn't have believed He Jingrui's nonsense; now that he was on the vehicle, he couldn't get off...
At 5:59:59, under the stunned gaze of the customers, the tricycle executed a beautiful drift and stopped steadily in front of the Haunted House.
Lu Chuan, pale-faced, shakily dismounted from the seat.
It wasn't until he stood firmly on the ground, feeling the solid touch beneath his feet, that he finally regained his composure.
He wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead, couldn't help but glare fiercely at the awkwardly smiling He Jingrui, and then began setting up his stall.
What he didn't expect was that every customer lining up for food would touch the tricycle with a surprised expression, then give He Jingrui a thumbs-up.
This left Lu Chuan with a black line, while He Jingrui, who was helping to serve the food, was smiling so widely his mouth couldn't close.
"Lu Chuan, your tricycle is really amazing! It can go up to 200 mph without wobbling. Let me drive it back too~"
"You wish!"
"Let me drive it! Please!"
"Stop bothering me!"
Lu Chuan had an immense headache.
Just then, new customers arrived, not understanding the purchase limit, and tried to stage a "forced buying and selling" scene.
Fortunately, besides Xia Xingyu and Baba Le, Leng Hui and others had also joined in to maintain order.
The customer's initially arrogant demeanor immediately became incredibly docile under the cold stares of several people, and he bowed and scraped before leaving.
"Thank you all; otherwise, I wouldn't have known what to do."
Lu Chuan gratefully thanked Xia Xingyu and the others.
"No problem, it's nothing."
Xia Xingyu and the others waved their hands, replying with smiles.
Since they were all so familiar, Lu Chuan didn't say any more words of thanks, only keeping this kindness in his heart.
Stall time quickly ended.
Even though Lu Chuan had prepared more portions this time than yesterday, it couldn't withstand the enthusiastic customers who spontaneously promoted or called friends.
Just after nine o'clock, the fully stocked freezer was already empty.
Fortunately, there weren't many people left in line; after Lu Chuan's soothing words, they could only leave with disappointed faces.
And just as Lu Chuan was about to leave, Xia Xingyu mysteriously called out to him.
"Little Boss, don't rush off."
Lu Chuan turned around in confusion and asked:
"Is there something wrong?"
Xia Xingyu nodded, his face full of a bright smile.
"It's like this: the city's TV station contacted me today, planning to interview me for a reality show. I thought this was a good opportunity to promote the amusement park, so I agreed."
Upon hearing this, Lu Chuan was also happy for Xia Xingyu and quickly offered a few congratulations.
Xia Xingyu, however, waved his hand and said with a smile:
"No, this involves you too."
"Me?"
Lu Chuan pointed at himself in surprise.
Xia Xingyu chuckled:
"When the interview starts, the production team will first play a short film. Short films are usually provided by the interview subject themselves, so I submitted Baba Le's video."
As Lu Chuan's eyes grew increasingly bewildered, Xia Xingyu blinked and continued:
"Although most of the video talks about me and the amusement park, the most brilliant part has to be Little Boss and your snack stall!"
"Once this show airs, Little Boss, your reputation in Yinhua City will definitely rise another level."
Looking at Xia Xingyu's expectant gaze, Lu Chuan felt his entire being was unwell and was about to say something.
But then he heard Xia Xingyu report another "good" news.
"And the production team was also very happy after watching the short film. To deepen the interview, the director immediately decided to send people over to film an extra set of promotional shots for you and your snack stall."
Lu Chuan was startled and quickly asked:
"When did they film? Where are they?"
Xia Xingyu thought Lu Chuan was too excited to contain himself and chuckled:
"Oh, they've already finished filming."
Lu Chuan was stunned when he heard this.
"Fi...finished filming?"
Xia Xingyu nodded.
"That's right, do you remember a man and a woman with cameras in the queue tonight?"
Upon hearing this, Lu Chuan suddenly remembered.
Not long after he set up his stall tonight, a man and a woman had lined up at the very front of the queue...
"Hehe."
Lu Chuan's mouth twitched.
