22: Would you like to try the delicious stinky tofu?

Qi Yuan and the others surrounded the Yellow-Haired Vendor, creating quite a stir, which immediately drew everyone's attention.

After hearing the conversation between Qi Yuan and the Yellow-Haired Vendor, everyone realized they had been used as pawns by the Yellow-Haired Vendor, and their emotions immediately flared up.

Just then, someone suddenly recognized the Yellow-Haired Vendor and immediately pointed at him, shouting loudly:

"It's you again, you scoundrel! I know you!!!"

Facing the confusion of those around him, the man began to explain.

"I'm a video blogger specializing in exposing fakes. This guy has always been using unknown, inferior meat disguised as beef and mutton, making it into barbecued skewers and selling it from his stall."

"I saw online that some people reported severe diarrhea after eating his barbecue, so I bought a few skewers to have them tested. The results showed that the meat was actually rat meat!"

"I took the test results to the police station to report him, and he was arrested. I never thought this scoundrel would be even worse this time, actually using us as pawns to deal with his competitors."

After hearing what the man said, everyone frowned.

This was more than just poor character; he was the scum of the earth.

"Call the police! Let the law punish him!"

"I can't wait for legal punishment; let me beat him up first to vent my anger!"

"Yes, beat him up!!!"

Facing everyone's eagerness, the Yellow-Haired Vendor immediately fainted and wet himself.

"Eww~"

Li Qihong and Zeng Yucheng immediately shook his hands off in disgust, then quickly followed Qi Yuan and the others out of the crowd.

"Hehe, little boss, you weren't scared, were you?"

Qi Yuan clapped Lu Chuan on the shoulder and asked with a smile.

Lu Chuan had witnessed the entire incident from outside the crowd.

Seeing Qi Yuan, Worker Meng, Li An, Leng Hui, and the others all present, he understood the whole story.

He had been slandered and framed, and these patrons, who were strangers but shared a meal with him, had spontaneously stood up to protect him... Thinking of this, Lu Chuan suddenly felt his eyes welling up, almost shedding tears, and quickly covered his face with his hands, shaking his head repeatedly.

Seeing Lu Chuan like this, Qi Yuan stopped teasing him and instead, understandingly patted his shoulder to offer comfort.

After a while, Lu Chuan felt his emotions stabilize a bit before looking up and nodding gratefully to Qi Yuan and the others.

"Great kindness needs no words of thanks. Tonight, I'll treat you to stinky tofu, as much as you can eat!"

He patted the small cart next to him, his tone very serious.

"Haha, it's a deal!"

Unexpectedly, there was a pleasant surprise. Qi Yuan, Li Qihong, and Zeng Yucheng were immediately overjoyed, nodding repeatedly.

Great, they did a good deed and got free delicious food!

Happy~

On the other hand, adults like Worker Meng and Old Chen felt a bit embarrassed.

They hadn't really helped much, yet the little boss was going to spend money on them. Should they accept or refuse? Leng Hui, however, directly shook his head and refused. He was helping Lu Chuan out of gratitude; how could he take advantage of him?

Moreover, he had brought so many brothers, all big eaters; they would surely eat Lu Chuan out of house and home... But under Lu Chuan's repeated insistence, Worker Meng, Old Chen, Leng Hui, and the others eventually compromised.

Meanwhile, Li An, who was still in the crowd, secretly beating the Yellow-Haired Vendor to vent his anger amidst the excited crowd, had no idea what he was missing.

It wasn't until the police arrived and took away the bruised and swollen Yellow-Haired Vendor that Li An noticed everyone happily chatting and getting along well with Lu Chuan.

"The Your Devilishness is unexpectedly easy to talk to?"

Li An immediately went forward, wanting to take advantage of the good atmosphere to get closer.

But when he saw the fleeting look of disdain in Lu Chuan's eyes as he looked over, Li An was immediately scared and dared not approach further.

Why?

Why is the Your Devilishness so warm to others but so disgusted with me?

This is unfair!!!

Lu Chuan had no idea what Li An was thinking; he just felt that Li An was a jinx and instinctively felt disgusted.

Just then, another police officer came forward.

"Excuse me, who is the owner of the stinky tofu stall?"

Hearing the police officer's question, everyone looked at Lu Chuan.

The police officer then knew and walked up to Lu Chuan, smiling:

"Don't be nervous, I just have a few questions. As the victim of this incident, we'll need you to make a statement later. When would be convenient for you?"

Lu Chuan wasn't nervous, but he knew that cooperating with police inquiries was every citizen's duty, so he quickly replied:

"I still need to set up my stall. Can I make the statement after I'm done with the stall, around 12 o'clock? Is that okay?"

The police officer nodded upon hearing this.

"In that case, I won't disturb your business for now. I'll come back to pick you up later."

Lu Chuan nodded gratefully and watched him leave.

As the Yellow-Haired Vendor was taken away by the police, the hundreds of people who had gathered there, fearing implication, also mostly left.

Fewer than ten people remained, including the anti-fake blogger who had exposed the Yellow-Haired Vendor's misdeeds.

At this point, the anti-fake blogger and the remaining people walked up to Lu Chuan. He first scratched his head, then said with an embarrassed expression:

"Sorry, boss, we misunderstood you. We all too easily believed the words of a villain and almost did something unforgivable."

Lu Chuan hadn't expected these people to come and apologize.

He thought about it; it seemed he hadn't suffered any losses, at most just a fright.

If he were to condemn them because of this, it probably wouldn't do him any good either.

It would be better to maintain harmony and see if he could convert them into customers.

Thinking this, Lu Chuan quickly waved his hand, wanting to say some polite words.

However, he was clumsy with words, and his smile became unnatural and a bit stiff.

"It's fine, it's fine, it was all a misunderstanding, and it's resolved now. Oh, are you hungry? Do you want to eat stinky tofu? It's very delicious."

The anti-fake blogger hadn't expected Lu Chuan to be so easygoing and immediately felt even more embarrassed.

He quickly agreed, treating it as supporting the business and making amends.

As for Lu Chuan's claim that it was very delicious, he was noncommittal.

It was just a portion of stinky tofu; how delicious could it be?

The few others who shared the same thought also readily agreed.

And so, surrounded by a group of customers, Lu Chuan rode his small cart to the public restroom, then began preparing for his stall.

Lu Chuan took out a new, sealed bottle of cooking oil from the cart and poured it into a clean, new iron bucket.

Next, he took out jars of sauces, their exteriors spotless.

Finally, there were thick plastic bowls wrapped in film, unopened, and disposable chopsticks that clearly weren't cheap, inferior goods.

Seeing this scene, everyone who had followed him brightened up.

They say you can tell a person's character from the details.

Just from the items Lu Chuan had prepared, it was clear he wasn't a stall owner who would shortchange his customers.

You know, many snack stalls, to save costs, use the same oil over and over again.

And the counter is always greasy and messy, with sauce bottles covered in stains, simply making one lose their appetite.

Not to mention plastic bowls and disposable chopsticks, which are always the cheapest, inferior goods for customers.

Comparing the two, the difference was immediately obvious.
