227: Shallow ideals are not worthy of ascending to heaven

Jiang Yan called out, somewhat fearfully, “Big Brother…”

Feng Qingjue’s strength was obvious to all. Although Big Brother was very strong, if the two of them fought, it was truly unknown who would win or lose.

Qin Wangchuan landed on the arena with interest, feeling the vast Luck flowing around Feng Qingjue, and a hint of understanding flashed in his eyes.

“So that’s it.”

“This is… Luck…”

It was this Luck, solidified into substance, that allowed Feng Qingjue to sense her own uniqueness in the depths of her being, realizing that this tribulation was fated for her.

Only by overcoming this tribulation could she achieve her future.

“Which means… I’ve become her stepping stone?” Qin Wangchuan thought, shaking his head with a light chuckle.

“That’s fine.”

Qin Wangchuan raised his hand, picked up Qiu Qiu from his shoulder, and handed him to Ye Jianwei beside him.

“Qiu Qiu?” The little fellow tilted his head, his tiny eyes full of confusion.

Ye Jianwei held him in her palm and whispered, “It’ll be over soon.”

Everyone felt a blur before their eyes, and Qin Wangchuan’s figure had already appeared at the edge of the arena.

Upon seeing Qin Wangchuan, the light in Feng Qingjue’s eyes grew even more fervent.

She took a step forward, solemnly extending her hand: “Come, one day, ascend to the Heavens with me!”

It had to be said, this person was very interesting.

Qin Wangchuan slowly stepped onto the arena, not immediately making a move, but simply gazing at her, and asked a question:

“You, why do you want to ascend to the Heavens?”

There have been countless people throughout history who sought to defy the Heavens, but they all failed.

This Feng Qingjue was one of them.

It was just unknown whether she was related to the future destruction of the Immortal Court.

Upon hearing this, a sharp glint flashed in Feng Qingjue’s eyes. She withdrew her hand and stood proudly.

She raised her hand, pointing to the sky, her voice clear and firm, echoing in all directions:

“Why? Does this need a reason?”

“Just like water flows downwards, and the sun, moon, and stars rise in the east and set in the west, this is the law of heaven and earth, natural and spontaneous.”

Her tone suddenly rose, carrying a hint of unsuppressable indignation and defiance:

“I’d rather ask, why?! Why can those Immortals of the Immortal Court be born to reside in the Nine Heavens, looking down upon the mortal world? Why can Cultivators like us, and indeed all living beings in this world, only grovel on the earth generation after generation, dependent on their whims, governed by their rules?”

“I just want to go up and see what kind of scenery lies above the clouds! I just want to use these two feet of mine to shatter this predetermined hierarchy!”

“This Heaven, others say it cannot be ascended, but I, Feng Qingjue—I will ascend!”

Her words were like thunder, exploding in everyone’s hearts.

The audience below immediately erupted in an uproar.

“Defying the Heavens… She wants to defy the Heavens!” A young Cultivator trembled with excitement, unable to help but exclaim in a low voice.

“Simply outrageous! But… why do I feel my blood boiling?”

Countless spectators felt a resonance, their blood boiling.

The Immortal Court was too far, many had no aspirations.

But the actions of some Upper Thousand Provinces Cultivators, who considered themselves superior and viewed the beings of the Lower Realm as ants and weeds, had long sown seeds of resentment in the hearts of countless people.

Facing this impassioned declaration, Qin Wangchuan’s face showed no ripple. He merely nodded faintly, his tone surprisingly calm:

“What you said is correct.”

Feng Qingjue was not surprised by this answer.

In her opinion, this truth was self-evident; any person with a shred of spirit should agree.

She even felt that if this unfathomable man before her did not agree, that would be truly strange.

However, Qin Wangchuan’s words were not finished.

He took a light step forward, his gaze still fixed on Feng Qingjue, that calm gaze seemingly able to penetrate all superficialities and reach the depths of her Soul.

“There is indeed no natural reason for the people of the Immortal Court to be superior. Your desire to ascend to the Heavens is also your freedom.”

His voice remained gentle, yet carried an indescribable power, slowly questioning:

“But, Feng Qingjue…”

“When you have endured all hardships and finally set foot in the Immortal Court, what do you plan to do then?”

Feng Qingjue almost blurted out without thinking: “Matters after ascending to the Heavens, naturally, will be dealt with after ascending to the Heavens! For now, I only need to take one step at a time, steadily upwards; that is enough.”

This answer, in the eyes of others, would only make them think she was down-to-earth and would surely achieve great things in the future.

But in Qin Wangchuan’s eyes, it was not so.

Receiving such an answer, he nodded gently, a hint of understanding flashing in his eyes, and he whispered:

“Indeed… it’s not you.”

Feng Qingjue was full of doubt, not understanding his meaning.

She heard Qin Wangchuan continue, his voice calm yet carrying an indescribable penetrative power:

“A true Heaven-defier must possess a grand vision encompassing the universe, and eyes that shine with light illuminating all ages. She must not only have the courage to break the old order but also the will and responsibility to establish a new order.”

“Your ideal stops at ‘going up to see,’ blurred into mist, and trapped by momentary indignation, no different from others.”

“This ideal…”

He looked at Feng Qingjue, his gaze profound.

“Is too shallow.”

These two words were like a splash of ice water, igniting anger in Feng Qingjue’s heart, yet also inexplicably stifling her.

“If the ideal is shallow, how can one ascend to the Heavens?”

Having said that, Qin Wangchuan said no more.

He slowly walked onto the arena, his steps unhurried, as if merely strolling through his own courtyard.

“No matter what, no matter how clearly the principles are debated, it is ultimately just talk,” the young man calmly stated. “Only by overcoming this immediate tribulation will you be qualified to consider matters after ascending to the Heavens.”

“Of course!” Feng Qingjue suppressed the strange feeling in her heart, let out a clear shout, and drew her sword.

“Clang—!”

The longsword left its sheath, like a Dragon’s roar and a Phoenix’s cry, its chilling Sword Qi illuminating her resolute eyes.

She pointed the sword tip at Qin Wangchuan and declared loudly:

“Feng Qingjue, Dual Cultivation of Sword and Dao, please enlighten me!”

This was both a sign of respect for her opponent and a declaration of her Dao Heart.

Qin Wangchuan remained indifferent, only replying with three words:

“Qing Wangchuan, Talisman Cultivator.”

Talisman Cultivator?

This answer made Feng Qingjue pause slightly.

She looked at his distinguished demeanor; although there was no sharp Sword Qi around him, he possessed an invisible sharpness, making him seem more like a profound Sword Dao master.

How could he be… a Talisman Cultivator?

As her doubts arose, her lips moved, and the question “Are you really a Talisman Cultivator?” had not yet left her mouth—

An anomaly suddenly occurred!

The air at the edge of her vision suddenly twisted.

A figure, without warning, tore through that spatial ripple and appeared aggressively!!!

It was a three-meter-tall metal Puppet, with incomprehensible dark red patterns engraved on its torso.

The moment it appeared, its left arm was already raised, its precisely structured metal index finger pressed against Feng Qingjue’s temple!

The fingertip opened, revealing a miniature spirit light cannon muzzle, and a faint blue spirit light rapidly condensed!

“Boom!”

The instant the killing intent erupted, Feng Qingjue’s combat instincts subconsciously reacted.

Her waist bent backward with a flexibility beyond human limits, her entire body like a soft willow in the wind, narrowly avoiding that fatal strike!

A scorching beam of light whistled past her face, instantly vaporizing a few strands of her raised hair.

Having just avoided the killing blow, Feng Qingjue’s eyes sharpened. Before her bending posture was complete, the longsword in her hand had already drawn a cold arc of light, striking backward at the Puppet’s leg joint!

“Clang—!”

The clash of metal was deafening!

The blade struck, but only a dazzling shower of sparks erupted, leaving only a shallow white mark on the Puppet’s body, which didn’t even sway.

‘This is a bit bullying…’ Qin Wangchuan muttered to himself when he saw this.
