9: Meeting a mysterious person
Rain stains on the bluestone slab had not yet dried, reflecting the hem of the Young Master's dark brocade robe.
Qin Wangchuan looked down at the blind girl who would one day become the Qin Emperor. At this moment, she was like a drenched fledgling, trembling even when receiving a gift.
He suddenly smiled.
This virtue, no wonder she could become the Qin Emperor in the future.
"My name: Qin Wangchuan."
He bent down to pick up the Spirit Stone bags that had been pushed back, and along with a warm Jade Pendant, he forcefully pressed them into her palm. "Come with me."
"Your life now belongs to me, and you shall only live for me."
The Jade Pendant was warm to the touch. The front was engraved with the character "Qin," and the back with "Nine."
Ye Jianwei caressed the patterns, and in a daze, she felt the warmth from the jade spread from her fingertips to her heart, melting the ice left by that rainy night.
"Qin... Wangchuan?" she murmured, as if wanting to engrave these three words into her bones and blood.
Qin Wangchuan did not respond to Ye Jianwei's soft murmur. He turned to the guards beside him and said indifferently, "Clean up the bodies and prepare a coffin."
"Also, after we return, each of you may choose one item from my Treasure Pavilion."
Upon hearing this, the two guards' eyes suddenly gleamed with wild joy.
"Thank you, Young Master!"
The guards hidden in the shadows secretly gritted their teeth, their eyes flashing with unwilling envy.
Spirit Crystals were merely a Cultivation resource, distributed monthly by the Family.
But the items in the Young Master's Treasure Pavilion were all unique treasures!
Things he had no use for, a few casually thrown out could stir up a storm of blood.
Even at this moment, a wisp of rosy light leaked from the slightly open slit of a Spirit Crystal bag, causing all the surrounding Cultivators to collectively hold their breath.
Their eyes revealed obvious shock and greed. If it weren't for the terrifying scene that had just occurred, they would probably have swarmed forward long ago.
Ye Jianwei was still kneeling on the ground, lost in thought, her eyes slightly warm.
Her mother would not be left to rot in the wilderness; this was better than anything.
Qin Wangchuan stood still for a moment, his gaze sweeping around.
'According to the trajectory in the simulation, the mysterious person who will bestow the Nine Heavens Qin Emperor Scripture should be arriving soon.'
Helping Ye Jianwei up, Qin Wangchuan said:
"Just wait a bit."
"Next, I'm waiting for one person, and I'll destroy one Family."
After a moment of hesitation, Ye Jianwei suddenly clutched the corner of her clothes, her voice trembling:
"Young Master... let's leave first. You killed someone from the Ye Family; they'll be here very soon..."
Her fingertips gently caressed the character "Nine" on the Jade Pendant, her voice growing softer and softer: "My mother provoked them before and was run over and killed. They even said no one was allowed to collect her body, and no one was allowed to interfere, otherwise..."
Ye Jianwei could not see, nor did she know what kind of hellish scene lay before her.
If she had known, she probably wouldn't have said such a thing.
Qin Wangchuan nodded, sighing, "A small Family is quite Divine Qi."
"No! Not a small Family, the Ye Family... is very powerful."
Ye Jianwei's shoulders involuntarily flinched, as if recalling something terrifying: "Many people died, so we also..."
The two standing guards almost laughed out loud when they heard this.
A Family from a frontier town, even if ten, a hundred, or ten thousand came, they could be suppressed with a casual wave of the hand.
Not to mention, this was within the Qin Family's territory.
"Don't worry, it will be fine."
Qin Wangchuan interrupted her, then suddenly looked up at the end of the long street—
Rain and mist swirled on the bluestone slab, and a man in a straw cape walked with steady steps.
This was a man of about thirty, with sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes. Behind him was a fortune-teller's flag, and a bamboo tube hung at his waist, with copper coins jingling inside.
"Little girl..." He walked up to Ye Jianwei, lifted his bamboo hat, and was about to speak, when his pupils suddenly constricted—in the divination, where there should have been only one person, there was now an additional five-year-old child!
The child, dressed in dark clothes, was staring at him with deep eyes unsuited for his age.
The man in the straw cape subconsciously formed a hand seal with his long fingers, but this divination failed to reveal anything.
The Heavenly Secrets were Chaos, and the fate was completely absent.
It was as if sitting there was not a living person, but a sharp sword severing the long river of Heavenly Secrets!
"How strange..." His bronzed face showed shock. He had traveled through three thousand states for thousands of years and had never encountered such a fate that could not be divined at all.
"Never mind."
"Two little ones, I have a Cultivation Technique here. Since you two are fated with me, who wants it?"
The fortune-teller's gaze wandered between the two. He was only responsible for giving out the Cultivation Technique; to whom it went was not important.
He secretly affirmed in his heart: 'It will definitely be this young man who wants it.'
The young man looked more mature, and the blind girl could not see, so she naturally would not know the preciousness of this item.
But in the next second, he was wrong.
"Give it to her," Qin Wangchuan said indifferently.
"Oh?" The fortune-teller became interested, raising the Jade Slip in his hand. "Do you know what Cultivation Technique I hold?"
"I don't know."
"Then why don't you want it?"
"It's more suitable for her."
"What if I told you this is a supreme treasure capable of changing fate?"
"Then give it to her too."
Then give it to her too.
These four short words, however, were like a fire, burning Ye Jianwei's heart.
She came from a humble background. Precisely because of her low status, she had seen too much darkness. A Cultivation Technique that could make this person so solemn must be a rare treasure.
Yet, he didn't hesitate for a moment, and so casually gave it to her.
—Why?
Was it because she was too weak? Or because he pitied her? Or perhaps... he simply didn't care about this so-called "supreme treasure"?
But no matter which, it shouldn't be like this.
She had seen too many people fight to the death, even kin turning against each other, brothers becoming enemies, all for a few Spirit Stones or some food.
But now...
Ye Jianwei clutched the Jade Slip handed to her by the fortune-teller, her knuckles slightly white, but her heart felt as if it had been tightly gripped by something, both sore and swollen.
—So, there really would be someone who treated her this way.
Not charity, not pity, but... truly willing to give her good things.
She suddenly felt her eyes warm, and quickly lowered her head, afraid he would see her lose composure.
In reality, Qin Wangchuan's purpose in saying these things was very simple.
She is already mine, so who I give it to doesn't make a difference?
Only, the fortune-teller did not know this. After a light laugh, he stepped forward, intending to carefully observe this unusual Young Master.
But how could the two guards allow him to approach?
The fortune-teller lightly twirled his fingertips, his gaze shifting. Although he could not divine Qin Wangchuan's fate, the origins of the two guards clearly emerged in the divination flowing through his fingers.
He raised an eyebrow, and with a half-smile, he murmured:
"So it's a Qin Family member."
His tone was calm, yet it held a hint of profound meaning.
"I owe your Family's Old Ancestor a favor, so here. I have a Six-Character Sword Manual; I'll give it to you."
"Young Master, learn the sword."
The fortune-teller seemed to see something through Qin Wangchuan, and began to chant loudly, his unrestrained and carefree voice echoing throughout the intersection.
"A Swordsman—"
"One sword across the heavens chills the stars, its lone edge once reflected ancient sorrows. Let Prodigies compete for glory, I stand firm—above the clouds!"
