527: Chapter 527 From now on, I'll bully your son!
Early the next morning, Mother Wen and Father Wen headed out.
Qin Zhaoer waited in her own yard for a while, feeling as if a cat were scratching at her heart.
She truly couldn't hold back anymore.
She looked up at the top of the wall, took two steps back, ran for momentum, pushed off with her hands, and flipped over.
She landed heavily, but with a sense of impatient energy.
There was no one in the front yard, and no one in the house.
She walked quickly to the backyard, turned the corner, and saw him immediately.
He was squatting in front of the bellows, his hands and face covered in soot.
Qin Zhaoer's footsteps paused, and the corners of her mouth curled up involuntarily.
She didn't even know what she was smiling at.
Just seeing him squatting there with a face full of dust made her lips quirk up on their own, and she couldn't suppress it no matter how she tried.
It felt like something was gently tickling her heart, making it itch.
She quickly steadied herself, leaned against the wall with her arms crossed, and tilted her chin up slightly, feigning an air of indifference.
“Why did you say so much to him? He's just a little ant.”
Her words held a hint of complaint, mixed with a bit of smugness.
She had heard everything said last night.
With the spiritual energy in this yard being so abundant and her own Cultivation, her ears were quite sharp.
“For this world, he isn't small,”
Qin Wangchuan said while continuing his work. “Besides, it was just a few words; it's no big deal.”
Qin Zhaoer gave an ‘oh,’ her tone sounding somewhat nonchalant.
She lowered her eyes, kicked a small pebble at her feet, then looked up again, pretending to mention it casually: “That girl named Zhong is constantly asking about you. What do you think of her?”
Qin Wangchuan's hands didn't stop, and he didn't turn his head: “Which one named Zhong?”
Qin Zhaoer was about to speak, but she abruptly shut her mouth as the words reached her lips.
“Nothing.”
Looking at his indifferent manner, her heart suddenly felt sweet.
Zhong Fangying was a student from the same class as Qin Wangchuan at the School. She was fair-skinned, spoke with a soft voice, and would ask her about him every few days.
How could she not know what that meant?
Qin Zhaoer lowered her eyes, her toe lightly scuffing the ground.
This blockhead usually looked quite dim, but he wasn't someone those ordinary mortals could pin their hopes on.
The one who could stand by his side was only...
The tips of her ears quietly turned red.
She didn't let her thoughts go further, but the corners of her mouth curved up before she quickly pursed them again.
Just then, Qin Wangchuan stepped on the bellows—
Air rushed into the ash-filled furnace and immediately blew back, coating his entire face in black.
Qin Zhaoer was stunned for a moment, then burst out laughing, doubling over:
“Hahaha! Look at you! You look hideous!”
Before her laughter subsided, Qin Wangchuan's large hand slapped directly onto her face, giving it a vigorous rub for good measure.
“That's for laughing.”
Qin Zhaoer's eyes widened, and she froze in place.
She didn't even need to think to know what a disaster her face looked like right now.
Seeing her motionless, Qin Wangchuan wiped another handful of soot and smeared it onto the other side of her face.
“Mm, much better now.”
He looked at his handiwork and nodded with a smile.
“Aaaaah! Qin Wangchuan! You're dead!”
Qin Wangchuan didn't run; he just stood there, waiting for her to pounce.
Qin Zhaoer rushed forward, swinging her fists to strike him.
He reached out to block, seizing the opportunity to grab her fists, while his other hand smeared another handful of soot onto her face.
“You did it again!”
Qin Zhaoer screamed and jumped back, her face now completely unrecognizable.
Qin Wangchuan looked at the soot on his hands, then at her, his lips twitching until he finally couldn't hold it back and laughed out loud.
“You—you're still laughing!”
Qin Zhaoer stamped her feet in anger, bending down to grab a handful of dirt to throw at him.
Qin Wangchuan turned and ran, his pace not too fast, just enough so she couldn't catch up.
The two of them went back and forth, circling from the front yard to the backyard and back again, their shadows dancing in the sunlight like two fighting cats.
Just as they were in the middle of their ruckus, a white figure suddenly rose from under the jujube tree and walked over unhurriedly, blocking Qin Zhaoer's path.
“Move!” Qin Zhaoer tried to go around, but the white deer stepped to the left, blocking her again.
She moved to the right, and the white deer followed to the right.
“Look closely, he's the one who smeared my face first! Why are you stopping me?”
Qin Zhaoer stood with her hands on her hips, glaring at those moist deer eyes.
The white deer remained unmoved, standing steadily like a moving wall.
Qin Zhaoer took a deep breath and tried to squeeze past its side in a huff. Just as she took a step, the white deer turned and blocked her again.
“Not you too!”
She lunged left and right, circling several times, but the white deer simply wouldn't let her pass.
Qin Wangchuan stood behind the white deer, not running anymore, just watching her struggle with the deer with a slight smile on his lips.
“You—you're ganging up on me!” Qin Zhaoer stamped her feet in rage. Gritting her teeth, she took advantage of the moment the white deer turned to look at Qin Wangchuan and suddenly darted past it.
The white deer glanced back at her but didn't chase, merely following behind her at a leisurely pace.
Qin Zhaoer finally reached Qin Wangchuan, but before she could reach out, he had already circled to the other side of the white deer.
“Why are you hiding!”
“Why are you chasing?”
“I'm just going to chase!”
“Then I'm just going to hide.”
Qin Zhaoer was speechless with anger. After circling several times and still unable to get past, she could only shake her fist at Qin Wangchuan across the white deer: “You just wait!”
“Bully me now, and I'll bully your son later!”
Qin Wangchuan didn't understand the connection between those two sentences, assuming she was just talking nonsense in her anger.
By the time the Wen parents returned, she hadn't managed to touch Qin Wangchuan once.
She stamped her feet in a huff as Mother Wen started calling for her.
“I will have my revenge!” Qin Zhaoer gritted her teeth and threw out a harsh parting word. As she turned to leave, she suddenly remembered something and looked back crossly: “Get rid of that tagalong of yours. Seeing him every day annoys me.”
With that, she ran off.
Qin Wangchuan stood in place, watching her figure disappear over the yard wall.
Not long after, Mother Wen's startled cry came from next door.
“What happened here?”
“I took a fall, fell right into some soot.”
“Oh my, as expected of my daughter; even a fall can leave a handprint on your face.” Father Wen's praise drifted over the wall, before his voice rose a bit higher, “We bought some groceries, Wangchuan, why don't you come over and eat with us?”
Qin Wangchuan was about to agree, but then he remembered the 'tagalong' Zhaoer mentioned and spoke up to decline.
It wasn't anyone else but Zhou Heng, whom he had taught a lesson at the martial arts hall before.
Since that day, Zhou Heng had been wandering around the vicinity, intentionally or otherwise.
Qin Wangchuan hadn't intended to deal with it, but seeing this situation, he had to.
He went out and loitered at the mouth of the alley for a while.
After a couple of turns, he indeed cornered Zhou Heng at a street corner, who was scratching his head and lost in thought.
“Qin Chuan?!”
Zhou Heng looked up and saw him, his face full of shock, clearly not expecting to run into him here.
“I've changed my name; it's Qin Wangchuan.”
Qin Wangchuan glanced at him and turned to walk forward.
“It's mealtime. Come on, let's go eat.”
“My treat.”
