Chapter 106 The Truth Revealed, A Brutal and Laughable Requisition

Liu Jianguo's desperate cry of "I might really be done for this time" made the office atmosphere shift from an absurd standoff to genuine tension.

The guard behind him, who had remained vigilant, turned pale instantly. Supporting Liu Jianguo's swaying body, he shouted into his collar communicator: "Medical Team! Quick! The Chief's condition is wrong!"

"Don't... don't shout..."

Liu Jianguo leaned on the guard, gasping for breath. His heart felt like it was being gnawed by ten thousand ants—numb and painful. Yet, he used all his strength to raise a trembling hand and stop the guard's call.

He had seen all sorts of storms in his life. If he were actually angered to death in an office today by a kid selling toys, his lifelong reputation would be completely ruined once word got out.

He forced himself to endure, fumbled a small bottle from his pocket, poured out two pills, and swallowed them dry without even looking.

After a long while, the feeling of impending suffocation slowly receded. He pushed away the guard who still wanted to support him and stood upright again.

His face, which had turned purple from lack of oxygen, had now returned to a grim, steely color.

He stared intently at the still innocent-looking Li Jiajun, no longer roaring or questioning. He just looked at him with an extremely exhausted gaze, as if he had seen through the mortal world, for a full half-minute.

Li Jiajun felt uneasy under his gaze. He felt that this Uncle Liu's look was no longer that of an elder looking at a junior, nor looking at a troublemaker, but looking at... a walking natural disaster that could not be explained by common sense.

Finally, Liu Jianguo slowly turned around and, in a raspy, emotionless tone that was almost inaudible, gave an order to the group of National Security personnel who had been on standby and were trying hard to stifle their laughter:

"Immediately... launch an investigation."

"Find that... Punk Elder who bought the car, dig him out even from underground!"

"Bring him back alive, or if he's dead..." He paused, seemingly finding the word unlucky, and changed it to, "even if he's dead, find out everything he said!"

...

The efficiency of the National Security department could only be described as terrifying.

Less than twelve hours after Liu Jianguo's order was issued, an elite agent task force met a peculiar-looking old man at a port on the southwestern border who had just entered from abroad.

It was exactly that Punk Elder who had been enjoying himself so much he forgot to return home, Zhao Dezhu.

His current outfit was even more flamboyant than when he left Baishui City. The studded leather jacket had been replaced with one made of crocodile skin, a gold chain as thick as a pinky finger hung around his neck, several large gemstone rings adorned his fingers, and two flattering local guides followed behind him, carrying bags large and small.

This wasn't someone going wild fishing; this was clearly a local tyrant returning home in glory.

It turned out that after serving as Kun Sha's strategist and helping him make a big impact in Sanbianpo, Zhao Dezhu had completely transitioned to a king-like lifestyle. But after enjoying it for a while, his old rock-and-roll heart began to stir again. He felt that living this way for too long was meaningless; he still wanted to return home and find a quiet place to fish.

Kun Sha was deeply grateful and didn't dare to make him stay. He could only prepare generous gifts and send people to respectfully escort this "Supreme Emperor" out of the country.

Zhao Dezhu had just stepped onto the soil of the Eastern Country and hadn't even had time to breathe the air of his hometown before he was invited into an inconspicuous black business van by several serious-looking men in black suits who appeared out of nowhere.

Facing this sudden turn of events, Zhao Dezhu was a bit dazed at first. But when the other party showed that red ID card he had only seen in movies, his old rock-and-roll heart didn't feel fear; instead, a wave of unprecedented excitement and pride surged within him.

'Holy crap!' The thought surfaced in his mind. 'In this lifetime, I've actually reached the point where National Security comes to invite me for tea? I can brag about this for the rest of my life!'

Thus, in the task force's temporary interrogation room, facing the serious questioning of the interrogators, Zhao Dezhu hid nothing. With a hint of uncontrollable boasting, he recounted his glorious deeds of the past few months with extra embellishments.

"...Let me tell you, those warlords fighting is just like kids playing house! I just took out a few moves from that book The Art of War I read when I was young—things like repairing the gallery roads openly while marching through Chencang secretly, leaving an opening for a surrounded army, and not pressing a desperate foe... and it beat them until they were crying for their parents!"

"And that kid's car is really something! Driving it up cliffs is as easy as climbing stairs! I commanded those boys to drive that car and rush down from the enemy's headquarters. You should have seen it; the faces of the people opposite us turned white with fear!"

"Later, that kid named Kun Sha insisted on having me as his strategist, giving me mountains of gold and silver, and those girls... tsk tsk..." At the height of his excitement, he had a look of endless reminiscence on his face.

Outside the interrogation room, Liu Jianguo, who was listening through the one-way glass, had facial muscles twitching uncontrollably.

He listened to Zhao Dezhu's storytelling, which was as exciting as a professional narration, then looked at the absurd interrogation report his subordinates had compiled based on the testimony, and fell into a long silence.

The truth was finally out.

Li Jiajun indeed hadn't sold any art of war, nor had he sold a strategist.

He had only sold a batch of elderly joy vehicles with performance so heaven-defying they could be used as light tanks.

And the buyer just happened to encounter a rock-and-roll old-timer who was well-versed in The Art of War, bold as brass, and—damn it—a person with no sense of direction...

These two elements combined in a way more bizarre than a novel, randomly coming together to ultimately brew this shocking farce that overturned the regional landscape and triggered international disputes.

Liu Jianguo felt his worldview was completely overturned at this moment. He wanted to get angry but didn't know who to direct it at; he wanted to laugh, but thinking about how he almost died of anger in Li Jiajun's office, he couldn't laugh at all.

Ultimately, all his emotions turned into a long sigh filled with endless exhaustion.

He rubbed his throbbing temples, waved his hand, and gave the final decision to the head of the task force:

"Report the relevant technology of the black tortoise immediately! On the grounds of suspected threats to National Security and to prevent unauthorized proliferation of key technologies, perform the highest level of technical sealing and collaborative development!"

"As for this elder..."

He glanced at Zhao Dezhu, who was still bragging animatedly in the interrogation room, his mouth twitching as he added, "Have him write a ten-thousand-word deep self-reflection, and then... enroll him in a University for the Elderly! Specifically to study geography and learn how to read a map!"
