Chapter 47 How can this not be considered a toy?
In the office, Li Jiajun's appearance of wanting to report a crime, filled with grief and indignation, had acting skills sufficient to make any professor from a film academy stand up and applaud.
The big shots filling the room were left completely dumbfounded by his earth-shattering performance; one by one, their mouths twitched, and their facial expressions were nearly out of control.
Sun Danian felt his blood pressure had soared to a dangerous critical point. He took a deep breath, finally breaking free from that sense of being caught between laughter and tears. He glanced at the Old General beside him, who hadn't spoken the entire time but whose eyes had grown increasingly profound, and received an imperceptible nod of acknowledgment.
"Enough!"
Sun Danian had completely given up on engaging in any form of verbal dispute with this young man, because it was meaningless and would only lead to being dragged into the gutter by the other party's bizarre train of thought.
He stared at Li Jiajun, enunciating every word, his voice filled with unquestionable seriousness: "Mr. Li, we are not here to listen to you perform a stand-up comedy routine, nor are we here to discuss intellectual property law with you."
He pointed outside the door, cutting straight to the point: "Since you insist that these items are knock-offs and that your factory contains the genuine products, then please take us to see your 'genuine products.' We need to conduct an on-site performance spot check of the 'toys' in your warehouse."
Li Jiajun's heart skipped a beat.
'Crap, still didn't manage to fool them,' he thought to himself.
He knew the other party was getting serious now. It seemed he couldn't dodge this hurdle.
The grief and indignation on his face instantly vanished, replaced by an extremely reluctant expression, as if his prized collection of figures were about to be taken away by a bratty kid.
"Test? Leaders, it's not that I'm complaining, but those are all works of art prepared for export, very delicate. What if your test isn't professional and you break them? Who's going to pay for the damages?" He began to haggle, attempting a final struggle.
Sun Danian pushed up his glasses, expressionless: "Rest assured, we have the nation's top Experts and the most precise instruments, guaranteeing that your 'works of art' will not be damaged. If damage is truly caused by our mishandling, the state will compensate you at full value."
With things said to this point, Li Jiajun knew he had no more excuses to stall.
"Fine, fine," he waved his hand with a pained expression, fished a large bunch of keys from his pocket, and jingled them. "Then follow me. But let's get this straight: you can only look, not touch. If you break them, you have to compensate me with a new one, and it has to be the original!"
Muttering to himself, he led the group of big shots out of the office and headed towards the finished goods warehouse deep in the factory.
...
The large iron door of the warehouse was pulled open with a creak, and the distinct smell of plastic and cardboard boxes rushed out to meet them.
When the investigation team saw the scene inside the warehouse, quite a few of them were stunned.
There was none of the expected strictness and mystery of a military factory. The entire warehouse was neatly stacked with uniform white cardboard boxes. On the side of every box, the words "Li Family Toy Factory" were printed in eye-catching, colorful fonts, alongside a chubby, adorable cartoon bear avatar.
The scene was full of childlike innocence and harmony.
The accompanying Mayor of Baishui City looked at this scene, feeling his worldview becoming even more confused. In all his years in office, this was the first time he had ever seen a "crime scene" surrounded by the military and National Security that was actually such a warm and cute sight. If word of this got out, it might even become a new urban legend for their Baishui City.
"Leaders, please take a look."
Li Jiajun walked up to a row of shelves and, like a diligent and responsible salesman, picked up a packaging box to show everyone.
"This is the latest 'Honeycomb' series children's educational assembly drone released by our 'Li Family Toy Factory.' The packaging is exquisite, the materials are solid, it's safe and non-toxic, and we treat all customers honestly. Whether it's a birthday gift for a child or for your own collection and amusement, it is your best choice."
His sales pitch made the technical Experts behind Sun Danian feel a bit torn between laughter and tears.
Sun Danian ignored his glib talk and simply waved his hand.
Several technicians wearing white lab coats, looking as if they had just stepped out of a laboratory, immediately stepped forward carrying several silver metal briefcases filled with a sense of technology. They opened the cases, which contained various precise portable testing instruments with antennas and display screens.
"Open the box, Mr. Li," Sun Danian said.
Li Jiajun pursed his lips, picked up a box cutter, and carefully sliced open the tape on the packaging box.
The box opened, revealing black, custom-molded high-density shockproof foam. Li Jiajun removed the foam, and a black drone lay quietly in the recess.
"Leaders, please take a look," Li Jiajun held the drone in his hands, introducing it with a sincere face. "This is our genuine product. Compared to the shoddy knock-off in the photos, the difference is clear, right? Look at these lines, this craftsmanship, this texture—every detail reveals an artistic aura." The one in the photos had been through the fires of war, so naturally, it didn't look as good as this one.
The Experts didn't speak. They put on white gloves, carefully took the drone, and began connecting various test lines and sensors.
Soon, the preparations were ready.
The testing ground was chosen in the open space outside the factory.
The first test: hovering stability.
A technician started a handheld high-power fan—a piece of military testing equipment specifically designed to simulate severe weather conditions. As the blades began to spin, it instantly kicked up a powerful airflow on the flat ground, blowing so hard that people could barely stand steady.
Li Jiajun controlled the drone, slowly lifting it into the air, hovering three meters above the ground.
Under everyone's gaze, the small drone remained as steady as a nail in the gale, not moving a single bit. No matter how the wind direction changed, its fuselage did not have the slightest sway or drift.
"This… this is impossible!" An Expert in charge of flight control system research watched this scene and exclaimed subconsciously, "Its redundant power compensation algorithm… the reaction speed is too fast! This is almost zero latency!"
Sun Danian's expression also became incredibly grave.
"Proceed to the second test! Maximum flight speed!" he ordered in a deep voice.
Upon receiving the order, Li Jiajun pushed the speed throttle on the controller all the way to the end!
"Whoosh—!"
The drone instantly turned into a black afterimage, and with a sharp sonic boom, it shot off into the distance at a speed almost impossible to track with the naked eye!
A few seconds later, it completed an incredible sudden stop and turn in the air, then flew back at the same speed, stopping steadily in its original position.
Meanwhile, in the mobile command vehicle, the young technician responsible for monitoring the speed data was staring intently at a line of red numbers that had just refreshed on the screen. His voice became sharp and dry due to extreme shock:
"Report! Report Teacher Sun! Peak speed… the peak speed just captured… exceeded 300 kilometers per hour! This… this has already surpassed our active-duty 'Cangying-3' high-speed reconnaissance drone!"
Once this data came out, all the technicians on the scene gasped in unison.
They looked at the cold instruments in their hands, then at the "toy" quietly hovering in the distance, and then at the innocent-looking young man nearby who seemed to know nothing at all. Everyone's face was filled with disbelief.
The scene fell into dead silence.
In the end, it was Sun Danian who broke the silence. He walked up to Li Jiajun, his eyes filled with extreme complexity. He pointed at the drone, then pointed at the data on the test instrument, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, and asked in an incredibly dry, trembling tone:
"Mr. Li, this hovering capability… this flight speed… you call this… a toy?"
"Uh…" Hearing this question, Li Jiajun really didn't know how to answer.
However, immediately after, a look of extreme purity and innocence appeared on his face.
He blinked, tilted his head slightly, and asked back in a tone that sounded perfectly reasonable and natural:
"How is this not a toy?"
