169: Chapter 169 Abandoned Unfinished Building 22

"Damn, little girl, have you snapped out of it yet? Can you get off? I'm about to be crushed to death!"

The voice of the Tattooed Man came from beneath the Girl in Pink Jeans, gritted through clenched teeth. She instantly snapped back to reality, scrambled to roll off the person beneath her, and quickly climbed to her feet.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry—no, wait, thank you, thank you..." the Girl in Pink Jeans stammered incoherently.

Her thoughts were still submerged in the shadow of her near-death experience; her heart was pounding violently, and her voice was still trembling.

The Tattooed Man stood up, patted his chest, and coughed a few times before saying, "It's fine. That really scared the life out of us just now. Are you okay? Did you sustain any internal injuries or anything?"

Hearing the Tattooed Man's question, tears instantly streamed down the Girl in Pink Jeans' face. She shook her head and choked out, "No, really, thank you so much. I didn't expect... I thought I was a goner..."

The Gentle Man with Glasses also walked over. "It's a good thing the Tattooed Man cushioned your fall just now, otherwise, falling from that height, you would have been dead for sure."

The Tattooed Man waved his hand. "Cough, cough, cough, it's nothing. I can still handle that much weight. Though, the impact force of falling down like that is quite significant."

"You're wrong." The Gentle Man with Glasses pushed up his glasses, his expression turning serious. "If something hadn't caught her just now, not only would you have failed to save her, but you would have risked your own death as well."

"What?!" The Tattooed Man looked stunned.

The Girl in Pink Jeans had fallen from a height of nearly thirty meters. Falling from that distance, even a brick could kill someone upon impact.

Not to mention, the Girl in Pink Jeans was an adult woman, and her surface area and weight were far greater than a brick.

The Gentle Man with Glasses explained, "You underestimate the impact force of objects falling from great heights. Why else would the Real World place so much importance on preventing objects from being dropped from high places? Because even a very small object, falling from such a great height, can take a person's life."

He looked at the Girl in Pink Jeans. "I originally thought that even with the Tattooed Man cushioning you, your chances of surviving this were slim, and there was a possibility that the Tattooed Man would have suffered serious injuries as well."

"However, I seemed to catch a glimpse of something flying toward you just now and blocking your fall underneath you?"

The Girl in Pink Jeans was still choking back sobs. Upon hearing the question from the Gentle Man with Glasses, she instinctively looked up, her voice raspy. "I'm not sure. Something did cushion me; I could feel it. But I don't know what it was, nor do I know how it flew over..."

Although she said that, the image of the White-haired Girl's deep, cold eyes, like frozen pools, subconsciously surfaced in the mind of the Girl in Pink Jeans. Could it be her?

...

At this moment, the Boy in Floral Trunks, who was still standing on the black iron railing of the staircase above, was staring down with his jaw dropped, gripping the railing.

"Holy sh*t, are you kidding me?! That's even possible?!" He suddenly whipped his head around to look at Luo Yuejian and exclaimed in awe, "Boss, you are too amazing! That kick you just did was absolutely insane! If it weren't for that step you kicked over, the Girl in Pink Jeans would definitely have been dead!"

Luo Yuejian looked very calm, her face wearing its usual indifference, showing no difference whatsoever despite having just performed such an astonishing feat.

However, in reality, Luo Yuejian was also cursing internally. Her inner thoughts were exactly the same as the words the Boy in Floral Trunks had just spoken—Are you kidding me?!

She had just accidentally slipped, and her foot had directly kicked the step next to her.

As everyone knows, this Abandoned Unfinished Building was full of shoddy, unfinished construction, and the stairs were even more fragile, crumbling at the slightest touch. Therefore, that kick Luo Yuejian had just delivered had actually sent the step below flying!

Yet, despite all this, she hadn't fallen and plummeted to her death like the Messy-Haired Man; her Agility Instinct had stepped in a split second earlier to help her stabilize her footing.

Luo Yuejian was used to this routine by now, so she wasn't too disappointed. However, the stone she had kicked down had coincidentally flown right beneath the Girl in Pink Jeans.

She had seen it clearly just now: the stone had naturally shattered upon being struck by the Girl in Pink Jeans. But that single impact had successfully managed to slow the Girl in Pink Jeans' descent by a fraction!

Luo Yuejian figured that the passive skill "Ten-Minute Strength Enhancement" must have taken effect. Otherwise, with her strength, how could she have kicked that stone into such a state? She wasn't Conan!

Although Luo Yuejian didn't mind giving the Girl in Pink Jeans a hand and saving her life, this whole sequence of events was very bizarre, and it was certainly not something she had done intentionally.

By then, wouldn't the Girl in Pink Jeans also want to repay her, just like the Tattooed Man? Who could she even complain to about that?!

Seeing that the players standing below had all retreated from the original spot, the two players above knew it was time for them to go down.

The Boy in Floral Trunks said gentlemanly, "You go down first. Who knows how long this fire hose will hold? The sooner you get down, the safer you'll be."

Luo Yuejian thought to herself, Do you think I don't know that going down earlier is safer? What I'm aiming for is the lack of safety!

Want her to go down first? Impossible. How could she possibly leave such a good opportunity to die to someone else?

Luo Yuejian immediately spoke up, "You go down first."

Hearing Luo Yuejian's cold remark of "You go down first," the Boy in Floral Trunks paused. Seemingly puzzled by Luo Yuejian's attitude, he explained, "I just meant..."

However, just at that moment, a muffled thud suddenly came from above. Immediately following that, the sound of something being pierced came from the floor above. This floor referred to the level where they had just found the fire hose.

Holy sh*t, it actually collapsed?

Just by the sound of it, one could tell that the roof on the top floor had collapsed, and then, unwilling to be left out, it had crushed the floor below it. That sensation of the ground vibrating returned; it felt like the floor above would fully collapse before long.

In that case, the broken staircase where they were currently standing certainly wouldn't be safe for much longer either.

Luo Yuejian felt a faint sense of excitement, preparing to continue the standoff with the Boy in Floral Trunks. It would be best if neither of them went down, then she could happily respawn, and the other side could continue to the next game. They all had bright futures!

But the Boy in Floral Trunks was not as fearless of death as Luo Yuejian. He looked up at the situation above, then saw that Luo Yuejian had absolutely no intention of going down. He sighed and said, "Alright, then I'll go down first. You be careful."

With that, he didn't hesitate; he grabbed the fire hose and started climbing down.
