41: Chapter 41 Death Desert 24
"Aren't you getting up yet?"
A voice suddenly came from the side; Luo Yuejian recognized it as Wolf-tail Guy.
In truth, she hadn't fully regained her senses, but she stood up subconsciously.
It was only then that she realized there was something in her hand, though she hadn't felt it through her cyan gloves.
It was a yellow gemstone. If one looked closely, they would discover that the gem was actually transparent, but filled with flowing yellow sand, making it look like a yellow gemstone at first glance.
"eye of the desert..." Luo Yuejian murmured subconsciously.
This was the name that had involuntarily appeared in her mind the moment she saw the gemstone.
Immediately after, Luo Yuejian finally reacted and stared at the gemstone in her hand in shock. This was the eye of the desert? Then their mission... was complete?
At the same time, a gust of wind behind her stirred her hair. Luo Yuejian turned around to see a towering pillar of white light standing before the sealed stone door they had used to enter this space.
Camo Uncle and the yellow-haired youth also saw this pillar of light.
A radiance instantly erupted in Camo Uncle's eyes. He shouted "Run!" and immediately charged toward the pillar of light.
"None of... you... are going anywhere!"
Lady Ba's sudden roar of rage almost pierced the dome. Luo Yuejian looked over and discovered that Lady Ba's entire face had cracked open, resembling scorched earth with magma flowing beneath it; she no longer looked human at all. Orange-red light radiated from the cracks in her face, and she panted heavily, as if that scream had consumed a great deal of her stamina.
"I... want... you... all... to die—!"
A blinding orange light gushed from her mouth, surging straight toward Camo Uncle, who was closest to the white pillar of light.
Camo Uncle's expression was one of terror; he was hit by the orange light before he could even react.
The next second, it seemed as if something on his body had cracked, and a faint white light on him dissipated.
Camo Uncle seemed to snap back to reality, cursing the "crazy woman" several times before continuing to charge toward the pillar of light without regard for anything else.
Camo Uncle had been close to begin with, less than a hundred meters away. Although his momentum had been blocked just a moment ago, he had still managed to cover several dozen meters.
Lady Ba was currently in the cooldown period for her skill, so his escape speed was much faster than before, making him the first of the four remaining survivors to escape.
The yellow-haired youth hadn't reacted at first, but seeing Camo Uncle charging toward the white pillar of light like a madman, he realized that the pillar might be the way to clear the level, so he immediately scrambled toward it with all his might.
Seeing that one person had escaped, Lady Ba was so furious that her white hair danced wildly without wind, and her eyes seemed to be spitting fire.
However, she also knew that given her current condition, it was impossible to stop everyone. Therefore, she locked her gaze onto the person she hated the most—Luo Yuejian.
It was this person who had caused her to lose all her magic power and perhaps be trapped in this cage forever. She wished she could eat her flesh raw!
Luo Yuejian felt Lady Ba's hateful gaze; that feeling of being targeted by a wild beast made her skin crawl instantly.
However, Luo Yuejian kept her mission in mind—she was here to die! It was a good thing that her aggro level with Lady Ba was so high right now.
But she couldn't just act it out openly; she had already suffered enough for that.
With the boost from Agility Instinct, Luo Yuejian was dodging Lady Ba's attacks with ease. She felt anxious, thinking, "Lady Ba looks so intimidating, why is she actually less effective than a paper tiger? If this keeps up, I'm going to clear the level without taking any damage!"
In reality, Lady Ba was also going mad with rage. She had been trapped in this hellish place for thousands of years. Arranged by the Yellow Emperor, this was the coldest place in the Desert, and there was lake water constantly weakening her power.
Now that she finally had a chance to escape, it had all fallen apart because of Luo Yuejian. At this moment, with Luo Yuejian's agile figure, she felt more like a clown, which made Lady Ba hate Luo Yuejian to the bone.
Seeing Luo Yuejian about to approach the pillar of light, she knew that if Luo Yuejian really escaped, she would never have another chance for revenge.
With surging hatred, Lady Ba began to chant a bizarre incantation. Her already cracked skin actually began to shatter piece by piece, and an unknown liquid beneath it flowed down her face like magma.
Lady Ba shrieked, "Stay here and keep me company!" At the same time, the surrounding ground began to shake violently, cracking piece by piece just like Lady Ba's face, as if there were tectonic movements.
Simultaneously, Lady Ba began firing light waves from her entire body; she was practically a humanoid artillery piece.
Luo Yuejian dodged left and right, and her speed inevitably slowed down. She felt a surge of joy, thinking, "This is a rare opportunity!"
If she didn't pull off some kind of maneuver, wouldn't she be letting down the opportunity Lady Ba had created for her?
Luo Yuejian gave a wicked smile in her heart, but then recalled how her previous attempts to stir up trouble had failed inexplicably, many of which were due to the card items she had drawn in the last round.
To avoid being backstabbed by the items again, Luo Yuejian took out her card and flung it toward Lady Ba.
Surely the system couldn't judge her for attacking the Boss, right?
However, she didn't know how to play with throwing cards at all, so her accuracy was inevitably lacking. Using too much force, it flew toward the yellow-haired youth instead.
Luo Yuejian was stunned. Seeing a life about to end at her hands, she felt quite guilty.
Just then, because of the violent shaking of the space, a giant boulder fell from the cave ceiling, heading straight for the yellow-haired youth's head.
All of this happened in the blink of an eye. In an extremely coincidental turn of events, with a loud "boom," the card that had flown from Luo Yuejian's hand collided with the boulder, creating an explosion of sand and stone.
Luo Yuejian was dumbfounded; there were only three words in her mind: "This works too?!"
She wasn't the only one stunned. The yellow-haired youth sat down on the ground with a thud, his expression looking as if it were about to crack, muttering something to himself; he was clearly terrified.
However, the others didn't have the time to pay attention to him anymore, as Lady Ba certainly wouldn't stop attacking because of the yellow-haired youth.
After the intense collision, the card had already dissipated into a small puff of fireworks. Currently, the slot for the Infinite Card in her item bar was grayed out; she would have to wait until the next game round to take it out again.
Although the process hadn't gone as she expected, the result hadn't changed. Luo Yuejian felt her luck was quite good right now and that there was room for maneuvering, so she decided to take another risk.
Her eyes darted around, and upon seeing a seemingly weak crack in the ground nearby, a plan formed in her mind.
Taking advantage of the gap between Lady Ba's new round of attacks, Luo Yuejian made a slight shift in her escape route while dodging.
Luo Yuejian was quite justified in this; her current route indeed had fewer protruding stone slabs and rubble compared to the previous straight line.
This was certainly easier for running, but ahead on this path, there was a huge crack—bottomless and looking truly terrifying.
If she fell into that, Luo Yuejian would undoubtedly die.
