262: Chapter 262 Treasure Land 32

This move of his was completely unexpected; the other players had never imagined that this guy would suddenly run off.

In particular, the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket, who was right behind him, was stunned for a long time.

The Doctor with a low ponytail and the Plump Boss behind him did react, but with someone blocking the path ahead, they had no way to give chase.

Seeing the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket still standing there stupidly, looking at a loss, the Doctor with a low ponytail spoke with a hint of anger: "What are you stunned for? Hurry and chase!"

Her words finally roused the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket. He jolted, then immediately took off running in the direction where the Mean-looking Man had disappeared.

By the time the players ran back into that Stone Room, the Mean-looking Man had long since vanished.

Each Stone Room had two exits. One was that slender door, and the other was the completely unobstructed hole they had used to enter the room. The Mean-looking Man had evidently run out through this hole.

"Damn it!" the Doctor with a low ponytail cursed, her expression looking extremely grim.

"What should we do? Are we going to look for him?" The Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket wore a panicked expression, clearly at a loss regarding the current situation.

The Plump Boss stared at the hole for a long moment, slowly exhaled, and said in a deep voice: "Let's follow and take a look. If that white-haired girl really is behind us, it proves that there must be other passages here. We have to find one."

A flicker of viciousness flashed through the eyes of the Doctor with a low ponytail. Just then, the Plump Boss happened to turn around and immediately noticed the intense murderous intent in her eyes.

He immediately frowned and slowed his speaking pace as he addressed the Doctor with a low ponytail: "Don't you feel like your emotions are a bit off?"

Hearing this, the Doctor with a low ponytail knitted her brows, a shadow of gloom passing over her face: "What do you... mean..."

Her voice trailed off, because at that moment, the Doctor with a low ponytail realized for herself that she seemed to be exceptionally irritable right now.

She was naturally a very calm person; it was impossible for her to get angry over such a trivial matter. Now, recalling the faint sense of irritation she had felt earlier, as well as her previous confrontation with the Mean-looking Man, the Doctor with a low ponytail grew increasingly alarmed the more she thought about it.

She had truly been influenced by something without even realizing it!

Thinking about it now, the Mean-looking Man had likely been influenced by something as well, which was why he had been so irrational. Otherwise, based on how that guy had acted previously, he wouldn't have been brainless enough to chase after someone else all on his own.

But why hadn't the Plump Boss and the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket been affected?

Using the method of controlled variables, what was it that she and the Mean-looking Man had done—or not done—that the Plump Boss and the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket had not done, or had done?

She quickly recalled everything they had experienced along the way in her mind. The players had basically been together the entire time. If there had to be some difference...

"Wounds..." she muttered to herself, "The Mean-looking Man and I both have wounds."

She looked up at the Plump Boss, "And you and this Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket have not been injured."

Earlier, when they were fleeing, the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket had good stamina and ran fast, so he had almost always been at the very front of the group of players and had no chance to get injured.

As for the Plump Boss, he possessed a defensive item, so even though he had been bitten by a Piranha at the time, he had not actually been injured.

The remaining players had all encountered critical situations in the forest to varying degrees, so they had all sustained injuries.

Thinking about it now, it was very likely that having wounds on their bodies, combined with an unknown substance in the air of this Treasure Site, had caused her temper to flare up.

Her brows furrowed, and when she looked up again, the intense murderous intent in her eyes had completely receded. She stated earnestly: "I will keep it in check."

Then, she thanked the Plump Boss, nodded, and said, "Let's go. First, we need to find the Mean-looking Man."

They returned to the previous fork in the road. Along the way, the three players had carefully observed the surroundings, but they hadn't seen anything suspicious at all.

And the Mean-looking Man was still nowhere to be found.

The Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket looked around and asked, "Then should we go check the other fork? It really looks like there are no other paths nearby."

After pondering for a moment, the Doctor with a low ponytail shook her head. "We might not be able to catch up with those two for a while. Let's go to the room ahead to discuss our next plan and see whether or not we should enter this fork. We can't just aimlessly look for the Mean-looking Man and that white-haired woman."

The three of them continued walking forward and returned to the Stone Room ahead.

However, as soon as they entered this Stone Room, the players immediately frowned. The Plump Boss's expression changed, and he blurted out, "What a thick smell of blood!"

As soon as they entered the Stone Room, they were immediately hit by a pungent, thick smell of blood. Such an intense stench could only be produced if someone had just died and lost a significant amount of blood.

The Doctor with a low ponytail made a gesture for the Plump Boss and the Maintenance worker in a faded leather jacket to step back, while she herself carefully entered the Stone Room.

She swept her gaze around the room, and very quickly, her eyes locked onto the headless corpse sitting in the corner.

The reason she could determine so quickly that something was wrong with this headless corpse was simple: the clothes on its body were clearly the type worn by a modern person.

At this sight, the pupils of the Doctor with a low ponytail contracted violently. Recognizing who the owner of that corpse was, she immediately gasped and exclaimed, "It's him! He actually died?!"
