265: Chapter 265 Treasure Land 35

The closer Luo Yuejian got to the source of the light, the more intense the scent of alcohol in the air became. Just one whiff was enough to make one feel dizzy, as if one had truly drowned their sorrows in drink.

Finally reaching the end of the corridor, she could see an arched stone cave ahead. There was no gate installed at the entrance; it stood wide open, and she could see light coming from within.

Luo Yuejian walked over and entered the cave entrance, only to be surprised to find that this underground area contained quite a spacious chamber.

The surroundings were filled with crates of jewelry and various rare treasures. There were golden chalices inlaid with gemstones, finely crafted glass wine cups, crystal vases, as well as decorative armor forged by blacksmiths and small religious icons hand-carved from ivory and ebony...

It was almost impossible to look away once one caught a glimpse. The light here came from countless night-luminescent pearls of various sizes, or other glowing jewels scattered around.

However, at this moment, Luo Yuejian's mind was not at all attracted by the dazzling treasures surrounding her.

Because right now, her attention was completely focused on a huge pool in the center of the space, her gaze glued to it.

The pool had a diameter of over six meters, occupying one-third of the entire space. Directly above it was a pitch-black hole about half a meter in diameter, with no visible end.

To call it a pool of water might not be accurate, because judging by the thick scent of alcohol in the surroundings, this seemed to be a pool of wine.

Four pillars towering from floor to ceiling stood around the wine pool. The carvings on them were exquisite and peerless, possessing a Renaissance-era feel, depicting relief figures that looked like stories from ancient Greek mythology.

The closer she got to this wine pool, the less clear Luo Yuejian's mind became.

Don't be fooled by Luo Yuejian's outward appearance; her face remained fair as jade, her expression indifferent, and her steps steady and powerful. In reality, however, her brain was already becoming a bit muddled.

She felt a bit lightheaded, filled with a strong craving for that scent of alcohol in the air. Her body began to move uncontrollably toward the wine pool in the center.

Upon approaching the wine pool, Luo Yuejian noticed that the liquid inside was a rich, pitch-black color, calm and motionless, as if it were a massive piece of black jade.

If not for the intoxicating scent of alcohol emanating from it, Luo Yuejian might have truly mistaken it for a rare, giant piece of black jade.

The scent of alcohol in the air kept tempting her appetite. Luo Yuejian swallowed her saliva and reached out, wanting to cup some of the black liquid to taste.

However, just as she reached out, she accidentally bumped into her pocket, which was stuffed full from all the looting of corpses along the way. A small, exquisite box fell out.

The box looked familiar; Luo Yuejian had definitely fiddled with it before. But having passed through more than twenty Stone Rooms and looted so many corpses, she couldn't quite remember what was inside.

Luo Yuejian's hand, which had been reaching toward the wine pool, paused. In a daze, she picked up the small box and, out of the habit formed from looting so many skeletons, subconsciously opened it to take a look.

As soon as the small box was opened, a pungent smell of Sichuan peppercorns and star anise immediately rushed straight to her head.

Luo Yuejian shuddered, instantly snapping awake under such stimulation. The dazed, senseless state she had been in just moments ago vanished in an instant.

She blinked, her eyes regaining their clarity, but having just woken up, she hadn't yet processed what had happened.

Luo Yuejian looked around again, only to discover that she had somehow ended up standing inside the pool filled with black liquid. Judging by her posture, it seemed as though she was about to jump into the black pool.

Luo Yuejian was shocked. "Holy crap, how did I get here?"

Her last memory was of being in the corridor, seeing light appear at the end of the path ahead.

"How did I suddenly teleport here...?"

The scent of alcohol in the air was still very intense, but it could no longer affect Luo Yuejian at all.

Although Luo Yuejian wasn't very smart, in such an obvious situation, it was hard for her not to guess where the problem lay.

Her gaze fell upon the black wine pool once more, and a sudden realization dawned on her.

"There's something wrong with this black water!"

Upon realizing this, a wave of annoyance rose in Luo Yuejian's heart. Why did she have to wake up so suddenly?!

If she had actually drunk the black liquid in this pool just now, she would have been 100% dead!

Luo Yuejian glared at the small box filled with Sichuan peppercorns and star anise in her hand, feeling extremely annoyed.

She thought to herself, "Why did you have to come out at this specific time? You had zero presence before, so why did you have to pop out right when I was about to successfully get myself killed?"

"Isn't this just screwing me over!"

She was so close, just a tiny bit away from being resurrected!

Having missed death by a hair's breadth once again, Luo Yuejian gritted her teeth in anger, wishing she could just throw the box in her hand away.

But there was no reason to do so; after all, holding this thing could prevent the scent of alcohol in the air from invading her brain again.

If she just threw the small box away, it would be completely illogical, and the slacker system would definitely warn her.

Luo Yuejian tilted her head back, staring at the hole above the pool to soothe her emotions. After a long while, she slammed the box shut and stuffed it back into her pocket, out of sight and out of mind.

However, this time, she took special care to stuff the small box to the very bottom of her pocket. That way, even if she bumped into it again later, it would be hard for the box to fall out.

Luo Yuejian actually felt that she still had hope of being mesmerized by the black water once again; after all, that scent of alcohol was constantly drifting in the air, and how long could the stimulation from the Sichuan peppercorns and star anise last?

She had now completely buried the small box containing the Sichuan peppercorns and star anise at the bottom of her pocket; nothing else would be able to wake her up.

The next time she was mesmerized, that would be the day of her resurrection!

Luo Yuejian made up her mind to kill time in this room until her brain, currently stimulated by the Sichuan peppercorns and star anise, was once again mesmerized by the scent of alcohol, and then she would seize the chance to die.

Since there didn't seem to be an exit in this space, she could just pretend she was looking for another exit, which would be the perfect way to stall for time~

Luo Yuejian could almost see the scene where she was bewitched into drinking the black wine, and then immediately died on the spot.

Victory was waving at her!
