196: Chapter 196 Dolls Play Hide-and-Seek 7
There was no time for her to think, because after tearing off the roof, the Giant Doll had already reached out a massive hand, like the Five Finger Mountain of the Buddha, and was grabbing toward her.
Looking up at the descending hand, Luo Yuejian ran at a very clever speed. This was a speed she had figured out earlier, one that perfectly stayed within the warning range of the slacker system.
Any slower and the system would start issuing warnings.
At this speed, combined with the Giant Doll's ten-meter stride, she estimated that it wouldn't be long before she was caught.
Even though Luo Yuejian had the passive skill Agility Instinct, it was still difficult to dodge such massive hands indefinitely. This was the reason why the previous players had died so quickly.
Luo Yuejian had calculated everything well, but just at that moment, the voice of the Baby-faced Youth suddenly rang out behind her.
"Get on!"
Luo Yuejian: ?
She turned back, completely bewildered, and saw at a glance that the Baby-faced Youth was actually standing on a skateboard!
That skateboard didn't seem like a normal one; at the very least, Luo Yuejian had never seen a skateboard in reality that could spark just by gliding along.
In the blink of an eye, the Baby-faced Youth glided up beside Luo Yuejian and urged her to get on quickly with an anxious expression.
There was no way Luo Yuejian was going to get on that skateboard!
She was just planning to use this wave of the Giant Doll to show off her skills and get herself eliminated; if she really got on the Baby-faced Youth's ride, how was she supposed to play?
But if she directly refused the Baby-faced Youth's kindness right now, the slacker system would definitely give her a yellow card warning, and who knew, it might even red-card her right out of the game.
So, Luo Yuejian had to come up with a reasonable excuse to refuse him.
Time was tight, and Luo Yuejian's mind raced. She originally wanted to say that the Baby-faced Youth's skateboard was too small and the burden of two people would be too great, so they might not be able to escape, hoping to trick him into leaving first.
But the skateboard the Baby-faced Youth was stepping on clearly wasn't an ordinary one.
What kind of normal skateboard could create sparks while gliding?
So that excuse was a bit far-fetched. Before Luo Yuejian could think of another reasonable excuse, a duck-like, gravelly male voice came from behind her.
"Holy crap, save, save, save, save, save, save, save me!"
As Luo Yuejian and the Baby-faced Youth ran, they looked back and saw a boy who looked like an athlete running out of a house they had just passed, sprinting for his life in their direction.
And the moment he ran out, the figure of the Giant Doll appeared above the house behind him.
A massive shadow instantly engulfed the Duck-voiced Athlete.
The Duck-voiced Athlete was fast, but nowhere near as fast as the Giant Doll. The Giant Doll bent down, vaulted over the house in front, and reached its massive hand straight down, almost taking his life.
Fortunately, the Duck-voiced Athlete had good athletic instincts; he performed a slide to dodge the massive hand, his face contorted in sheer panic, and he shrieked, "I can't do it anymore, oh my god! Who lured this thing over?! Holy crap, save me, save me, save me!"
The distance between the Duck-voiced Athlete and Luo Yuejian and the Baby-faced Youth hadn't been far to begin with, and since he was running especially fast, he quickly caught up to them.
Seeing the skateboard in front of the Baby-faced Youth, the Duck-voiced Athlete didn't even think; he jumped on without hesitation, crouched down, hugged the Baby-faced Youth's leg, and shouted, "Hurry and take me away! That ghost thing is about to catch up!"
Baby-faced Youth: ...
Luo Yuejian: ...
Although she was speechless, this guy had indeed provided Luo Yuejian with a good opportunity to shake off the Baby-faced Youth. She immediately said, "You take him and go first; I have a way to shake off the Giant Doll."
After saying this, without waiting for the Baby-faced Youth's reaction, she pulled open the door of a nearby house and slipped inside.
"Hey..." Seeing that Luo Yuejian had just run off like that, the Baby-faced Youth felt a bit anxious, but he didn't dare stay where he was. He snapped impatiently at the Duck-voiced Athlete who was still hugging his leg, "Let go, I can't move the skateboard!"
Hearing this, the Duck-voiced Athlete hurriedly let go and gripped the edge of the skateboard tightly, terrified that he would be thrown off once the skateboard started moving.
The Baby-faced Youth didn't say anything more; after all, there was still a huge threat waiting for them behind them. He immediately kicked off the ground, and the skateboard sped forward, quickly moving away from the spot.
Luo Yuejian slipped into the nearby house and breathed a sigh of relief. Damn, finally shook that guy off. If she hadn't been able to shake off the Baby-faced Youth, she might have accidentally shaken off the Giant Doll instead.
The ceiling above soon began to shake violently, and Luo Yuejian knew that was the Giant Doll tearing off the roof. She kept cheering the Giant Doll on in her heart, but her body was very honest as she continued to run toward the next house.
This was the method Luo Yuejian had thought of before: switching rooms one by one. From a frontal perspective, it was indeed a very effective way to delay the Giant Doll's speed.
After all, the time it took for the Giant Doll to tear off a roof was much slower than the time it took for Luo Yuejian to switch rooms.
But from another perspective, the method Luo Yuejian was currently using could only provide a temporary reprieve. After all, Luo Yuejian's time was limited, but the Giant Doll's stamina was infinite.
So it was only a matter of time before she was caught.
The intense back-and-forth running was undoubtedly a huge drain on her stamina, especially since Luo Yuejian was intentionally wasting time and energy; for instance, while running, she would occasionally look back to observe the Giant Doll.
Luo Yuejian had been leading the Giant Doll around for about twenty minutes, and she could clearly feel her stamina draining at an alarming rate. This made Luo Yuejian feel very gratified.
She looked up at the violently shaking roof and estimated that in about another half an hour, she would be able to achieve a perfect happy ending with the Giant Doll.
Thinking of this, Luo Yuejian's footsteps became even lighter. She ran out of the room again and deliberately lingered at the doorway for a moment, preparing to slip quickly into another room once the Giant Doll caught up.
Everything was proceeding according to Luo Yuejian's plan; she stood quietly in place, waiting for the Giant Doll to arrive. However, when she turned back, intending to pretend to observe the Giant Doll's position as she had done before, while actually stalling for time.
She was stunned.
Because the Giant Doll that was supposed to be chasing her had, at some unknown point, turned around and was walking in the completely opposite direction!
It actually wasn't planning to catch her anymore!
