238: Chapter 238 Assistant Work

Tang Li's apartment remained as neat and cozy as ever.

The underfloor heating filled the entire room with a gentle warmth, leaving no trace of the cold.

Tang Li skillfully took the coat Su Nange had taken off and hung it on the rack.

Immediately after, she tied on an apron and began to cook noodles for Su Nange.

Today's yellow croaker noodles were even more elaborate.

She used fresh yellow croaker from the East China Sea, seasoned with a light sprinkle of salt on both sides, then pan-fried them in hot oil until golden brown.

Next, she added ginger slices and scallions, poured in boiling water, and let it simmer.

Once the fish soup turned milky white, she seasoned it with salt and pepper.

Finally, she added the noodles, and the dish was complete.

Su Nange ate with great satisfaction; this bowl of noodles was in no way inferior to the delicacies one might find elsewhere.

Seeing Su Nange slurping down the noodles, Tang Li was also very happy.

However, Su Nange failed to notice that this woman was somewhat different today.

Although Tang Li was exhausted from her day, shouldering the responsibility for the company's normal operations while also driving Su Nange to and from work, she felt happy and fulfilled.

Yet, every time she returned to the dormitory the company had arranged for her, she felt a sense of emptiness.

She realized that the reason she had so much motivation during the day was because she could see Su Nange.

Even if she couldn't see him every second, she knew her boss was in the office right across the hall, very close to her.

She had never felt this way about a man before.

She was also well aware that Su Nange had more than one woman in his life; even that Xu Zhiyi had an ambiguous relationship with him.

However, Tang Li didn't care about this at all—her life was his, so what did it matter if her boss liked to play around a bit?

In Tang Li's eyes, Su Nange had earned that right. After all, wasn't that how all those big bosses were?

Why shouldn't my boss be allowed to do the same?

If Su Nange knew what was going through Tang Li's mind, he would certainly be speechless. Was this girl's brain really fried from too much studying?

Therefore, Tang Li's thinking was very simple: since she was an assistant, her primary job was to serve her boss well.

Whether it was his work or his personal life, she had to see to every detail, making him happy and ensuring he felt comfortable.

Su Nange asked, "Why aren't you eating?"

Tang Li seemed very shy: "Boss, please eat slowly. I'm going to go change my clothes."

Su Nange found it strange. You were fine cooking in those clothes, so why are they suddenly unsuitable for eating?

Tang Li went into the suite's bedroom and took a deep breath.

She then opened the wardrobe to reveal an outfit she had specifically chosen at the mall downstairs a couple of days ago. It had cost quite a bit of money.

Su Nange had previously complained that her fashion sense was poor.

Tang Li had stupidly assumed that men liked those little uniforms, short skirts, and black silk stockings bought from websites.

Perhaps some nouveau riche might like that kind of 'KTV hostess' style.

But Tang Li gradually realized that Su Nange was a sophisticated person with very high aesthetic standards.

After the last incident, Tang Li had felt so embarrassed that she couldn't bear to see Su Nange. She had actually dressed so cheaply to 'seduce' him.

No wonder she had been mocked by Su Nange.

But Tang Li didn't blame Su Nange for mocking her. She blamed herself for not understanding her boss at all. She even silently cursed herself: Is Su Nange just an ordinary boss?

Tang Li, are you crazy? Aren't you just lowering the boss's class?

And so, Tang Li didn't know when it started, but she began to teach herself.

After finishing a day's work, she would lie in bed and scroll through various apps.

The keywords she searched for were: "What type do bosses like?"

Tang Li's cheeks flushed hot, and she took the dress from the wardrobe and put it on.

When she walked out again, she felt even shyer.

Because she could clearly feel that the boss's gaze had changed.

It was no longer so clear, and it no longer possessed that invisible sense of distance.

Tang Li knew she had half-succeeded.

Meanwhile, Su Nange was still gnawing on the yellow croaker. He was surprised; what was this woman up to?

It was a silk nightgown. Su Nange thought it must be a nightgown.

However, this nightgown looked wrong no matter how he viewed it.

If you said it was indecent, Tang Li's slender frame wasn't revealing anything.

But if you said it was decent, Tang Li's slim figure was perfectly showcased.

It had spaghetti straps on the shoulders, the buttons on the chest were loose, and the length of the skirt was just right.

If you wanted to look, as long as you were thick-skinned and bent down, you could absolutely see everything.

But if you wanted to play the gentleman, well, go ahead and play it. Tang Li wasn't a corpse.

Did he really think Tang Li wasn't smart? Could someone who wasn't smart get into a 985 university? During this period, this woman had been crazily absorbing knowledge, okay?

She had deliberately not changed her gray stockings. Black, flesh-colored—what? Gray and coffee-colored were the best combinations for a mature young woman, okay? Tang Li had actually studied this.

Su Nange suddenly felt that this really wasn't bad. Should he consider buying a few in this color for the young miss when he went back?

And Tingting, with those top-tier long legs.

Tang Li walked over and sat down: "Hehe, I'm at home, so it's more relaxed this way."

Su Nange felt like a novice: "It's good, very good. Your fashion sense has improved a lot."

"As long as the boss likes it, that's all that matters."

Su Nange: ???

What on earth do you mean by that? Are you trying to make things difficult for me today?

Tang Li didn't eat much herself. She finished her small portion of noodles at the same time as Su Nange.

Su Nange instinctively reached to take the bowls and chopsticks to the sink.

Tang Li was one step faster, walking over to snatch the bowls and chopsticks from Su Nange's hands.

A faint fragrance drifted into Su Nange's nostrils.

You woman, when did you learn to buy perfume? I really have made your life better, haven't I? Is this how you repay me after your life has improved?

Tang Li was very gentle, and with the tear mole under her eye, she looked even gentler.

"Boss, put them down. Let Lily handle it."

It was unclear whether Tang Li was doing it on purpose or by accident.

Her small hands insisted on holding both bowls, making the four cylindrical chopsticks roll around on the large bowl.

Then, she just had to let one chopstick fall to the floor.

Fine, Tang Li didn't just squat down to pick it up; she had to bend her waist and knees.

You were trying so hard to play the gentleman, right? Go ahead and play it then.

Now, you're forced to see it, aren't you?

Before Su Nange could recover, Tang Li placed the bowls and chopsticks in the sink, then came over and pushed Su Nange to sit on the sofa.

Then, Su Nange heard a clinking and clanging sound.

Su Nange turned his head to look, and Tang Li was holding a large muddler, crushing ice and lemons.

Her five slender fingers moved up and down with the muddler. Su Nange couldn't help but swallow hard.

Finally, Tang Li bent down again to take a bottle of Western leaves from the refrigerator and poured it into the crushed lemon ice.

A cup of after-dinner lemon tea was ready.

However, Su Nange's hand slipped, and he spilled the drink Tang Li had worked so hard to make all over his lap.

Su Nange wanted to cry but had no tears; it wasn't that his hand slipped, it was that her hands were too slippery, okay?

Tang Li hurriedly squatted down, pulled some tissues from the coffee table, and began to wipe it for Su Nange.

The view from above was completely unobstructed. It was just a pity that Tang Li hadn't been well-nourished growing up; compared to the young miss and Zhou Wanqing, she was a bit inferior.

But judging by the silhouette, it was quite firm.

Su Nange slapped himself. What the hell are you thinking?

Tang Li stood up, her cheeks very red: "Boss, why don't you take it off? Lily will wash it for you. There's a dryer here; it'll be ready by tomorrow morning."

Su Nange cursed in his heart: Do you take me for someone who hasn't used a dryer? What kind of off-brand dryer takes a whole night to dry something?

But seeing Tang Li's eyes, they clearly held a kind of pitiful plea.

The meaning was: You try walking out tonight and see what happens! I'll go jump in a river for you to watch in a heartbeat!

This... what else could Su Nange say? He didn't even know if it was his brain that made him nod.

In any case, he just let himself go and lay down on a bed filled with a faint fragrance.

The two of them didn't say much afterward because they didn't know what to say.

Tang Li naturally did everything a personal assistant should do.

Tang Li knew she was very inexperienced; it would be a miracle if she were skilled at this.

She had tried very hard, but she still accidentally bumped Su Nange with her teeth.

But this clumsy technique, instead, made Su Nange feel even more fired up.

"Lily, you'd better get a bigger bath towel."

Tang Li didn't understand.

Su Nange could only explain helplessly: "If you don't want us sleeping on the sofa tonight."

Tang Li smiled brightly; her boss had finally accepted her.

If people said Tang Li wasn't smart, they were right.

She said to Su Nange: "Boss, please don't feel that Lily is a burden. Lily is your assistant; these things are all things Lily should do."
