231: Second stop: Haicheng! Survivors of Atlantis
This giant eyeball seemed devoid of emotional fluctuations.
It simply gazed silently at The Fan Family of Modu’s base below.
One minute, two minutes… after ten minutes.
The owner of the eye seemed to have found what it was looking for.
It descended rapidly, and the moment it touched the ground, it silently vanished into the ruins.
Immediately after, a massive, counter-rotating vortex appeared in the sky, swiftly filling and mending the spatial rift where the eyeball had appeared.
The suffocating, terrifying pressure receded like a tide, vanishing without a trace, as if it had never been there.
Wind.
Swept across the night sky.
Dispelling the last lingering trace of chaotic aura in the air, an aura that sent a chill deep into one's soul.
Everything that had just happened seemed like a mere illusion to Lin Feng and Alicia.
They instinctively wanted to find traces of the eyeball in the Fan Family ruins, but even after using every method at their disposal, they couldn't find any hint of its presence!
In the end, they could only give up.
“Leave no one alive.”
Lin Feng’s voice was not loud, but it was incredibly cold.
His words instantly became a nightmare for all surviving Fan Family members.
In a short while, the Metal Knights and the Alien Queen finished their battle; The Fan Family of Modu, one of the top three prominent families in Modu, completely became history tonight.
“Next stop, Haicheng.”
Without any superfluous words, Lin Feng's figure had already vanished from his original spot. Alicia took one last look at the ground, seemingly still concerned about the giant eyeball that had appeared earlier.
However, the entity had already disappeared, and she couldn't detect any lingering traces of it in the void. Seeing that Lin Feng had already gone far, she dared not hesitate any longer and quickly followed him.
Haicheng, a vital town on the eastern coast of Longguo, where the salty, humid scent of the sea breeze always permeated the air.
That night, Lin Feng and Alicia appeared at the edge of an inconspicuous coastal warehouse district in Haicheng.
A man in casual clothes with an ordinary face was already waiting there. He was the undercover agent Zhang Xianzong had arranged to investigate the traitors hidden in Haicheng, codenamed “Gray Fin.”
“The traitors in Haicheng are not controlled by a specific family, but by an organization called ‘Poseidon.’ They are usually very low-key. If the President hadn't granted me the highest operational authority within the Haicheng Professional Association, I probably wouldn’t have even found a trace of this organization’s existence.”
Gray Fin’s voice was very low, carrying a hint of imperceptible tension.
“Sir, please come this way.”
He dared not meet Lin Feng’s gaze; those calm, unruffled eyes made him feel more pressured than the deep sea.
He led the two, quickly moving through the labyrinthine shadows of the warehouses, finally stopping before a massive, rust-stained warehouse door, labeled “K-17.”
Gray Fin quickly pressed a complex code on an inconspicuous metal plate beside the door. The heavy metal door silently slid open a crack, revealing a starkly different scene inside.
“This is their organization’s secret stronghold. According to the information I’ve gathered, the core members of this organization are all ‘ordinary people’ in the eyes of outsiders, with various identities. They almost never hold conspicuous positions, except for their leader. Their leader, it seems, is a high-ranking official in a branch of the Professional Association!”
Inside the door was not a mountain of goods, but an unusually spacious, brightly lit hall.
The walls and floor of the hall were covered with some smooth, dark blue material, emitting a soft glow, as if one were inside a giant submarine.
The air was extremely humid; a large amount of water droplets had even condensed on the surrounding goods. The humidity in the air made Lin Feng and Alicia feel very uncomfortable.
Yet, in such an environment, in the central hall of this underground warehouse, there were hundreds of figures, some standing, some sitting.
They wore various outfits, but without exception, all of them exuded powerful energy fluctuations, at least at the peak of Gold-level.
“These are the ‘ordinary people’ you spoke of?”
Lin Feng sensed the auras emanating from these individuals and looked at Gray Fin.
“Councilman Lin, actually, I am also a member of this organization.”
As he spoke, the gazes of those standing or sitting had already focused on Lin Feng and Alicia.
Inside the warehouse hall, the air was so thick it felt as if water could be wrung from it.
Hundreds of gazes, filled with wariness, scrutiny, and a hint of imperceptible awe, were firmly fixed on Lin Feng and Alicia as they entered the place.
The energy fluctuations emanating from them were at least at the peak of Gold-level, and several auras were as profound as an abyss, clearly Transcendent-level existences.
This was by no means the foundation an ordinary, low-key organization should possess.
Lin Feng’s gaze swept across the hall, finally returning to Gray Fin beside him.
“Councilman Lin.”
Gray Fin straightened his slightly bowed back, his voice no longer deliberately lowered, but instead carrying a strange rhythm that echoed through the spacious hall.
“To be precise, I am the leader of the ‘Poseidon’ organization.”
As soon as his words fell, all members of “Poseidon” in the hall, whether they had been sitting or standing before, now bowed slightly in unison towards Gray Fin, with a sense of ancient and solemn ritual.
This silent gesture confirmed his identity more powerfully than any words.
Lin Feng’s eyebrow twitched almost imperceptibly.
Gray Fin ignored their wariness. His gaze flickered towards Alicia behind Lin Feng, his eyes fixed intently on the pendant on her chest.
“The artifact, grace of the god of light. With it, perhaps our Atlantean race can defeat those ugly demonic beasts and restore the glory of our Atlantean race.”
Gray Fin’s voice was deep and clear, each word like a heavy sea stone dropped into calm water, stirring invisible ripples.
He no longer concealed himself; a vast and profound aura, as immense as the sea, suddenly erupted from his ordinary body!
“Boom!”
An invisible shockwave violently spread out from him as its center, causing the entire warehouse hall to tremble intensely!
The dark blue walls and floor instantly lit up with countless intricate and profound patterns, emitting a faint blue light, as if ancient runes had been activated. The heavy moisture in the air instantly condensed into fine ice crystals, which were then shattered and evaporated by this violent force.
“Epic-level!”
Alicia’s expression changed slightly, and she instinctively tightened her grip on the Scepter of Light in her hand. A sacred glow naturally illuminated, forming a thin shield of light around her and Lin Feng, resisting the overwhelming pressure.
This power carried a vastness and profundity originating from the deep sea.
Lin Feng’s eyes remained calm, but a hint of solemnity flickered in their depths.
He did not retreat; instead, the space around him subtly twisted, neutralizing the pressure that could crush Transcendent-level powerhouses into nothingness.
However, the tremor beneath their feet did not cease; instead, it grew more intense.
“Woo—Aung—!”
A deep, prolonged roar of a giant beast, as if from ancient primordial times, pierced through the thick walls and floor of the warehouse, resounding directly in everyone’s soul!
This sound contained an indescribable sense of weight and power.
The entire warehouse district—no, the entire dock—began to violently heave up and down, swaying from side to side!
It was as if an unprecedented earthquake had occurred!
“What’s going on?”
Alicia exclaimed, losing her footing.
Lin Feng reacted incredibly fast, grabbing her arm. With a push off the ground, the two instantly transformed into streaks of light, soaring into the sky and bursting through the warehouse’s dome!
As they rushed out of the warehouse and hovered hundreds of meters high in the night sky, the scene before them made even the well-traveled duo feel a shiver down their spines!
Below them, what was supposed to be a warehouse dock?
The massive warehouse they had just been in, along with the dense surrounding storerooms, cranes, and mountains of stacked containers… all these man-made structures now looked like moss and parasites clinging to the skin of some living creature!
The dock’s ground was “coming alive”!
