159: Chapter 159 I was just about to enter the logistics industry, and you've already made me an enemy?

Upon seeing Wan Junhao, Jiang Nan's expression changed slightly.

She hadn't expected that in a moment of playfulness, her prank would end up targeting an acquaintance of her mother's.

She gave Wan Junhao a slight smile. "Mr. Wan, I'm sorry for making you spend so much. If you resell the villa now, you shouldn't lose too much."

Wan Junhao stood frozen in place, watching their retreating backs. The expressions on his face shifted rapidly—it was quite a sight.

He was, of course, aware of Lin Xuecen's commercial status in Jianghan Province.

She was among the top three in the entire province; his family couldn't compare at all.

After Jiang Nan finished speaking, she took Zhao Yang's arm and slowly walked toward the hall.

She lowered her voice and said guiltily:

"Zhao Yang, what should I do? I think I've taken the joke too far!"

Zhao Yang patted the back of her hand and comforted her:

"It's fine. Based on his character, his business probably isn't doing very well. There's no need to worry."

As the two approached the restaurant, the doorman pushed open the double carved wooden doors.

The lights from the banquet hall spilled out, and applause surged toward them like a tide.

Zhao Yang's crisp black suit accentuated his broad shoulders and long legs, making him look distinguished and imposing.

Jiang Nan wore a white wedding dress with a long train trailing several meters behind her, carefully held up by two flower girls.

The crystals on the dress shattered into a galaxy under the lights; she looked like a fairy walking out of the moonlight.

The guests praised them one after another: "A handsome man and a beautiful woman, a match made in heaven!"

"President Lin is so lucky to have found such a good son-in-law!"

"Look at the bride; she looks like she stepped out of a painting!"

Lin Xuecen sat at the main table, her smile so wide she couldn't close her mouth.

She repeatedly invited guests to take their seats and raised her glass in greeting, her every move displaying the grace of a hostess.

Zhao Yang and Jiang Nan walked onto the stage, turned around, and faced the hall full of guests.

The spotlights hit them, and all eyes converged on the couple.

Zhao Yang glanced sideways at Jiang Nan. Her face was tilted slightly upward as she looked at the dense crowd below the stage.

Her eyelashes fluttered gently, like two startled butterflies.

He gently squeezed her hand.

She interlaced her fingers with his, palms pressed together.

Wan Junhao sat in a corner, his face grim and unsightly.

The banquet hall was brilliantly lit, with crystal chandeliers making the entire hall as bright as day.

Lin Xuecen wore a wine-red qipao that outlined her well-maintained figure.

An emerald brooch was pinned to her chest, emitting a warm luster under the lights.

Holding a wine glass, she moved gracefully among the guests.

Her gaze constantly followed her daughter and son-in-law on the stage, her eyes filled with pride.

As Zhao Yang and Jiang Nan stepped down from the stage, Lin Xuecen immediately went to meet them.

"Come, let me introduce you."

She took Zhao Yang's arm with just the right amount of pressure, carrying an enthusiasm that was hard to refuse.

"This is Chairman Zhou of Hanjiang Iron and Steel Group. We've been partners for nearly twenty years."

Zhao Yang bowed slightly, holding his wine glass with both hands in a humble yet poised manner.

"Hello, Chairman Zhou. I've heard much about you."

Jiang Nan stood beside Zhao Yang, tilting her head slightly with a proper smile.

"Hello, Uncle Zhou."

After a round of pleasantries, they finally arrived at the table in the furthest corner.

Sitting at the table was a man in his fifties with a lean face and high cheekbones.

His eye sockets were slightly sunken, but his gaze was shrewd.

He wore a deep blue suit of a slightly dated style, and his tie was tied meticulously.

Sitting next to this man was none other than Wan Junhao.

Lin Xuecen walked to the table and said warmly:

"Zhao Yang, Nan Nan, this is Mr. Wan Chuanzhi of Wantong Logistics Co., Ltd. Beside him is Mr. Wan's son, Junior Mr. Wan."

Zhao Yang's gaze fell on Wan Junhao's face, his expression not changing in the slightest.

He raised his glass and bowed slightly, his posture gentle and humble.

"Mr. Wan, Junior Mr. Wan, a pleasure to meet you."

Jiang Nan had a perfect smile on her lips, her voice clear:

"Hello, Mr. Wan. Hello, Junior Mr. Wan."

Her expression management was flawless; no abnormality could be seen in her beautiful eyes.

It was as if she were meeting Wan Junhao for the first time.

Wan Chuanzhi immediately stood up, holding his glass with both hands and bowing slightly, his face covered in smiles.

"You two are too kind. President Lin, congratulations! Your daughter and son-in-law are truly a talented man and a beautiful woman, a match made in heaven!"

His voice was raspy, carrying the warm energy of someone who had spent years doing sales.

After Wan Chuanzhi finished speaking, he glanced at his son beside him.

Wan Junhao sat motionless in his chair, his face ashen.

The smile on Wan Chuanzhi's face stiffened. He caught a glimpse of Lin Xuecen's expression out of the corner of his eye, and his heart skipped a beat.

He reached out and yanked Wan Junhao up, his lowered voice filled with anger:

"The bride and groom are toasting you, can't you see?"

Wan Junhao stood up reluctantly and picked up his glass. His gaze was cold as he squeezed out two words through his teeth:

"Pleasure."

Zhao Yang maintained his smile, as if he hadn't noticed anything unusual.

"Junior Mr. Wan is too polite."

He gestured with his glass and took a small sip.

After the toast, Lin Xuecen nodded slightly and led her daughter and son-in-law away.

Once the three were far away, Wan Junhao sat back heavily in his chair and slammed his glass onto the table.

He turned to stare at Wan Chuanzhi, a fire burning in his eyes, his voice kept very low:

"Dad, that groom offended me."

He paused, the muscles in his jaw bulging as he said one word at a time:

"I'm going to destroy him."

Wan Chuanzhi's expression changed abruptly. Without a word, he slapped Wan Junhao on the back of the head.

Wan Junhao was shocked and angry: "Dad! You hit me?"

Wan Chuanzhi stared at him intently and lowered his voice:

"He is the Governor's secretary. Didn't you hear the introduction just now?"

He leaned in, his mouth almost touching Wan Junhao's ear:

"Our company is already having financial difficulties. If he wants to destroy us, he has ten thousand ways to do it."

The anger on Wan Junhao's face froze, as if someone had pressed a pause button.

He stared blankly at Wan Chuanzhi, his mouth slightly open. It took a long time before he could squeeze out a sound:

"Wasn't our company always doing okay? How could there be financial difficulties?"

His voice carried a sense of disbelief.

Wan Chuanzhi sighed and rubbed his brow with his hand:

"I just didn't tell you. Besides, would telling you have been of any use?"

Wan Junhao's expression shifted several times, his lips quivering:

"Dad... why didn't you say so earlier?"

He swallowed guiltily, his voice getting smaller and smaller:

"The company's 2.6 million in liquid capital... I used it to buy a villa."

Buzz!

These words were like a bomb exploding in Wan Chuanzhi's head.

His hand stopped mid-air, and he looked as if his soul had been sucked out of him.

A few seconds later, Wan Chuanzhi's lips trembled as he pointed a shaking finger at Wan Junhao:

"You... you spendthrift!"

By the time the reception ended, it was nearly ten o'clock at night.

Lin Xuecen was staying in the suite next to Zhao Yang and Jiang Nan, with a common foyer separating the two rooms.

Back in the guest room, Jiang Nan changed out of her wedding dress and into loose loungewear.

She removed her makeup, revealing a clean face.

Zhao Yang changed his clothes and pulled Jiang Nan up:

"Nan Nan, let's go over to Mom's place for a bit."

Jiang Nan knew what he wanted to talk about and immediately nodded in agreement.

Seeing the two of them, Lin Xuecen was a bit surprised:

"What's wrong? Why aren't you resting yet at this hour?"

"Mom, I have something I want to tell you."

Jiang Nan pursed her lips, her hands wringing together helplessly.

"Mom, I'm sorry."

Even though Jiang Nan's relationship with her mother had always been a bit awkward,

she still didn't want Zhao Yang to be the one to apologize.

Seeing her daughter's expression, Lin Xuecen thought to herself: Just how big of a guilty deed did she commit?

She immediately raised an eyebrow and asked:

"Nan Nan, what's going on?"

Jiang Nan hung her head. "Mom, I've offended Junior Mr. Wan of Wantong Logistics."

Lin Xuecen's brow furrowed slightly. I was just about to enter the logistics industry, and you've already made an enemy for me?
