93: Chapter 93 The Decision of Villa No. 2
The soldier on duty took a deep look at Zhao Yang before walking into the guard post to make an internal call.
"Leader, there is a young man at the main gate who says he is a relative here to see you."
Sun Zhendong raised his wrist to check his watch; it was five minutes to nine.
At this time, it had to be Zhao Yang.
He nodded gently, "No need to register him, just let him come in directly."
According to regulations, visitors were required to register.
Since the leader had spoken, the soldier naturally let him pass.
Zhao Yang arrived at Villa No. 2 and knocked on the door.
The door opened quickly, and Sun Zhendong stood inside himself, wearing a gentle smile.
"Little Zhao, come in quickly."
Having a high-ranking ministerial official welcome him at the door personally, Zhao Yang could not help but feel a jolt in his heart.
Just as he was about to bend down to get slippers, a graceful lady beside him had already placed them at his feet.
The lady was in her early fifties, her features revealing the refinement of a distinguished family.
It was Sun Zhendong's wife, Han Zhiyu.
During his last trip to Ningzhou, everything had been rushed, so Zhao Yang had no impression of her.
But judging by her demeanor, she was certainly not an ordinary housekeeper; it was highly likely she was Sun Hongwei's mother.
Zhao Yang quickly bowed slightly, "Thank you, Auntie, I can do it myself."
Han Zhiyu smiled, her voice carrying the unique, gentle softness of a Beijing accent:
"Little Zhao, come visit often in the future, just treat this place as your own home."
After saying this, she turned to make tea.
Sun Zhendong and his wife did not harp on their gratitude, but this attitude, which clearly distinguished between close and distant, spoke louder than a thousand words.
Zhao Yang sat down in the living room with Sun Zhendong and took the documents out of his briefcase.
"Uncle Sun, this document contains whistleblowing materials from the factory workers, as well as investigative materials from the Tongan Police."
"The workers reported that the two large machining centers transferred from the factory had clear procurement and installation dates."
"After the transport vehicles were seized by the police, these two machines were not listed in the factory's equipment registry. This is sufficient proof that the restructuring of the Tongan Die-Casting Machine Factory deliberately concealed state assets."
Sun Zhendong raised an eyebrow, "What is the value of these two pieces of equipment?"
"Over twenty million. According to the workers, half a year ago, the enterprise still had over seventy million in its accounts. Adding in the other equipment, raw materials, and the land, the total value might be close to two hundred million."
As Zhao Yang said this, Han Zhiyu brought over tea, and he quickly stood up to take it.
Han Zhiyu smiled slightly and placed the teapot to the side:
"I won't disturb you, please continue your conversation."
Zhao Yang sat down and looked at Sun Zhendong:
"Uncle Sun, the seventy-plus million in the accounts hasn't been verified, and the witnesses are still in the south. The equipment and raw materials haven't been re-audited either. Right now, the only thing we can act on is these two pieces of equipment."
Sun Zhendong listened patiently until Zhao Yang finished, then asked in a deep voice:
"I don't understand, why are you so fixated on the restructuring of the Tongan Die-Casting Machine Factory?"
Although Gong Chengze had reported the progress of the case to him multiple times, as well as the connection between the Die-Casting Machine Factory's restructuring and the June 11 Case,
Sun Zhendong still wanted to hear Zhao Yang's own explanation.
Zhao Yang picked up the second document, "My thoughts and analysis are all written here."
He placed the document in front of Sun Zhendong and then said:
"The clues regarding the frame-up in the June 11 Case trace back to Hao Jianping, the Vice President of Qicheng Group."
"On the night Hao Jianping fled, the Chief of the Tongan Municipal Public Security Bureau, Shen Zhentao, died at the Platinum Night Club."
"The previous General Manager of Qicheng Group was Guo Mingkai. The owner behind the scenes of the Platinum Night Club is also Guo Mingkai."
"And the person who took over the restructuring of the Tongan Die-Casting Machine Factory happens to be Guo Mingkai."
"While there are currently no clues indicating that Guo Mingkai was directly involved in the June 11 Case, I can only bring him under control by using this matter of illegal restructuring."
Once Guo Mingkai was under control, the investigation into the June 11 Case could continue to be dug deeper.
This was self-evident and did not require much explanation from Zhao Yang.
Sun Zhendong was pensive, his fingers tapping continuously on the tabletop.
"Provincial Party Secretary Tao was worried about affecting local development and stability, so he called a halt to the restructuring oversight. This caused much of your previous efforts to go to waste."
Sun Zhendong seemed to be merely stating a fact, but his tone was full of worry.
"Yes, with things this way, the variables are too great. It gave the other side ample time to alter accounts and transfer equipment."
"Fortunately, when the accounts were sealed previously, Secretary Jiang of the Tongan Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection quietly ordered a backup of the accounts to be made."
Speaking of this, Zhao Yang did not forget to put in a good word for his future father-in-law.
Rumor had it that the Provincial Party Secretary, Tao Zhimian, had already reached the retirement age and was serving beyond his term.
Sun Zhendong was here for a two-year transition, and barring any accidents, he would certainly take over Tao Zhimian's position.
Blowing a little wind for Jiang Yunheng now to leave a good impression would be beneficial for his future promotion.
"Secretary of the Tongan Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection?" Sun Zhendong was somewhat surprised.
He had already heard that Guo Mingkai was a man of the Tongan Municipal Party Committee Secretary, Ji Hongwen, and that the Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection usually stood on the side of the Municipal Party Committee Secretary.
Why would this Secretary Jiang do such a thing?
Zhao Yang nodded, "Jiang Yunheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection. He hasn't been in Tongan for long and finds some of Secretary Ji's methods hard to accept."
Sun Zhendong nodded slightly and did not continue to press the issue.
Zhao Yang continued, "But since you arrived, Guo Mingkai seems to be unable to sit still."
"Just last night, his people proactively contacted me, attempting to control me to learn about the movements of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection."
"Oh, that happened?" Sun Zhendong's eyes narrowed slightly as he set down his teacup.
Zhao Yang recounted the meeting with Lai Xunmei last night, sharing only what he could.
"Nonsense!" Sun Zhendong slammed the documents in his hand heavily onto the coffee table.
He raised his hand and pointed at Zhao Yang, "You knew there was danger, yet you still put yourself in harm's way! What if she had arranged for people to intercept your two colleagues?"
He seemed to feel it wasn't enough, staring fixedly at Zhao Yang:
"I'm asking you, if she had succeeded, what would you do now! Little Zhao, remember this from now on: a gentleman does not stand under a dangerous wall."
"It is not that a gentleman is cowardly, but that a villain has no bottom line, and their methods are impossible to guard against."
Sun Zhendong's tone gradually softened, as if he were reprimanding his own nephew.
Zhao Yang had to admit that although he had lived a second life, he might not necessarily be able to outmaneuver those treacherous villains when it came to underhanded tactics.
Fortunately, this time there was no real harm done.
Zhao Yang humbly accepted the criticism and nodded, saying:
"I was a bit too impatient. I just wanted to see if I could find more clues, but who knew she wouldn't say anything."
Sun Zhendong sat back down on the sofa, speaking earnestly:
"Little Zhao, I am very optimistic about your future. You must always tread on thin ice in how you conduct yourself; you cannot gamble away your future."
These words carried great weight.
Zhao Yang knew that as long as he worked hard, his official career would absolutely be smooth sailing.
He refilled Sun Zhendong's hot tea and nodded solemnly:
"Uncle Sun, I understand."
Sun Zhendong picked up his teacup and fell into deep thought.
According to what Zhao Yang had said earlier, this Lai Xunmei was Guo Mingkai's woman.
The fact that Guo Mingkai did not hesitate to use his own woman as bait was enough to show that he was extremely panicked inside.
He tapped his finger sharply on the tabletop once, then picked up his phone and dialed.
"Chengze, send people immediately to bring Guo Mingkai to the designated location to explain himself!"
"Understood, Old Lea... Governor. Regarding Secretary Tao of the Provincial Committee..." Gong Chengze was somewhat shocked.
Sun Zhendong's face was as calm as water, "I will naturally have an explanation. Send your people first, then come see me!"
