6: Chapter 6 Insolence! What right do they have to do this?

Zhao Yang didn't get angry. He closed his laptop and took out the videotapes he had recorded over the past two days.

He headed straight for the train station to buy a ticket to Ningzhou City, Donghai Province.

He would let the bullet fly for a while. By the time he reached Ningzhou, he estimated the other party's attitude on the phone would be completely different.

In his memories of his past life, Zhao Yang had heard Sun Hongwei mention that Sun Zhendong was an upright man who never used his power for personal gain for his family.

He certainly wouldn't use public power to interfere with the judiciary.

That was why he had said over the phone that he believed in the law.

But was the law still worth believing in after it had been toyed with?

Zhao Yang could already imagine how Sun Zhendong would react when he saw the confession Sun Hongwei had written with his own hand.

Accepting bribes and refusing to hand them over, murdering his wife, bringing back used condoms to fake a crime scene...

It would be a miracle if that upright old man's blood pressure didn't skyrocket and he didn't suffer a stroke on the spot!

It wasn't that Sun Zhendong wasn't steady enough.

Concern breeds chaos; no one could remain calm if this happened to them.

After a train ride of over three hours, Zhao Yang finally arrived in Ningzhou City.

He was certain that once Sun Zhendong received the news, he would inevitably go to verify its truth.

Sure enough, just as he got off the train, the phone in his pocket began to vibrate incessantly.

Taking it out to look, Zhao Yang couldn't help but curl his lips into a smile.

Sun Zhendong was calling back!

When the call connected, the voice on the other end had become much deeper.

"I believe Hongwei wouldn't commit murder. However, you said someone is framing him intentionally. Do you have any evidence?"

"I do!" Zhao Yang responded.

"I've already arrived at Ningzhou Station. If it's convenient for you, I can come over right now and show it to you."

Hearing this, the other party clearly breathed a sigh of relief, and his tone became more polite than before.

"Very well. Wait at the station exit. I'll send someone to pick you up."

"Alright. My name is Zhao Yang. I'm wearing a backpack and carrying a laptop bag."

Zhao Yang hung up the phone and went to the exit to wait.

About twenty minutes later, a black Audi A6 sped over like the wind and screeched to a halt in front of Zhao Yang.

The driver rolled down the window, tilted his head, and asked,

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Zhao Yang?"

"Yes, that's me." Zhao Yang reached out, pulled open the car door, and sat in the back row on the right side.

The driver glanced at Zhao Yang and bared his teeth but said nothing.

That was the exclusive seat of the Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary; how could you just sit there so casually?

Zhao Yang leaned back, completely ignoring the driver's gaze.

Although he had come this time to get close to them, there was no need to appear too humble.

He had already calculated everything; this time, he not only wanted to rescue Sun Hongwei but also needed to maintain the right balance.

He wanted to leave a good impression on Sun Zhendong.

Pretending not to know Sun Zhendong's identity was the first step.

Twenty minutes later, the car rounded the Donghai Provincial Committee Compound and drove into the residential area behind it.

The Armed Police soldiers guarding the gate of the residential area immediately saluted upon seeing the license plate.

Under the watchful eyes of the Armed Police, the car slowly drove up and stopped next to Villa No. 3.

Guided by the driver, Zhao Yang walked into the villa.

Scanning the room, he saw a man in his fifties with a grim expression, drinking tea.

Seeing Zhao Yang enter, the man hurriedly stood up, forced a smile onto his face, and extended his right hand.

"Little Zhao, is it? Thank you for your trouble. I am Sun Hongwei's father, Sun Zhendong."

Zhao Yang first showed a perfectly timed look of astonishment, then quickly steadied himself and calmly shook Sun Zhendong's hand.

"Hello, Uncle Sun. I didn't know you lived in a place like this. I've truly intruded."

He said he had intruded, yet he didn't show the slightest hint of awkwardness.

Having been a reporter for most of his life, he had met several national-level leaders.

Zhao Yang was already immune to the aura and pressure of officials.

Seeing Zhao Yang so calm and composed, Sun Zhendong was secretly surprised.

Though this kid was young, he wasn't as simple as he looked.

He waved his hand at the driver, who immediately left the room.

"Little Zhao, sit here. Tell me everything in detail."

Sun Zhendong's gaze toward Zhao Yang carried a hint of scrutiny.

After receiving Zhao Yang's call, he had immediately dialed his son and daughter-in-law's numbers, but both were turned off.

As a District Head, it was impossible for Sun Hongwei's phone to be turned off so easily.

This only proved that something had indeed happened to his son.

He couldn't easily seek verification from others about such a matter.

He didn't know how many people were waiting to laugh at him; after all, in his high position, he had to maintain appearances.

If someone was indeed framing him intentionally, then he could no longer care about appearances.

He had to use his connections to seek justice for Hongwei.

Without evidence in hand, given his personality, he couldn't bring himself to speak up.

After much deliberation, Sun Zhendong had finally called Zhao Yang back.

Fortunately, Zhao Yang had come.

But the kid had come so quickly that he couldn't help but wonder what his true purpose was.

Zhao Yang sat down on the sofa naturally and introduced himself.

"I am a news reporter for Tongan City Television Station. I've had a lot of contact with District Head Sun before and I know his character.

"When District Head Sun was arrested, my thoughts were the same as yours—it's impossible for him to have done such a depraved thing.

"So, I quickly conducted a follow-up interview on the case and obtained some key evidence."

As he spoke, he opened his laptop.

"Uncle Sun, this was secretly given to me by Jiang Nan, a police officer from the Technical Brigade, at great risk." Zhao Yang found the image of the DNA comparison report and clicked to enlarge it.

"Look, Uncle Sun, this is the test report for the semen found in the victim's body. The genetic similarity to District Head Sun is 99.9%..."

"What did you say?!" Sun Zhendong, who had been sitting, suddenly stood up.

It seemed Sun Zhendong, like him initially, also thought this was solid proof.

Zhao Yang felt a surge of nervousness; if Sun Zhendong had a stroke at this critical moment, everything would be for naught.

He quickly stood up to explain, "Uncle Sun, don't worry. A 100% similarity would mean it's the same person. This proves the killer is someone else."

Sun Zhendong let out a long breath, and his flushed face slowly returned to normal.

He sat back down and spoke excitedly, "Since we have this evidence, Hongwei should be cleared of all charges!"

Zhao Yang slowly shook his head. "If it were that simple, how could it be an intentional frame-up?

"In fact, District Head Sun is still being held at the Criminal Investigation Detachment and might even face a confession forced through torture."

Seeing the bright red seal in the bottom right corner of the photo, Sun Zhendong finally dropped his guard against Zhao Yang completely.

His gaze toward Zhao Yang also gained a bit more trust.

The source of the evidence was absolutely authoritative.

With such powerful evidence, the Tongan City police still wouldn't release him, causing his anger to flare up.

"Presumptuous!" Sun Zhendong slammed his palm heavily on the table. "What right do they have to do this!"

The teacup rattled, and tea spilled all over the table.

The oppressive aura of a high-ranking official's rage spread through the room.

Zhao Yang picked up his laptop and took a step back, saying in a deep voice,

"Yes, anyone with a conscience would not allow such a thing to happen.

"It is precisely because I have a conscience that I went to seek the truth.

"And it is also because she has a conscience that Jiang Nan, the forensic doctor from the Criminal Investigation Detachment, quietly gave me this test report."

It wasn't easy to get this report; if credit were to be given in the future, Jiang Nan had to have a share.

That was why he mentioned Jiang Nan's name and emphasized the word 'quietly'.

"Simply lawless!" Sun Zhendong stood up again, pacing back and forth as he thought of a strategy.

"Never mind that he's my son; even if it were a common citizen, I would not allow them to do this!"

He walked to the landline on the desk, picked up the phone directory, and was about to make a call.

Zhao Yang stepped forward quickly and stopped him.

"Uncle Sun, don't be in a hurry. I have other evidence here. Please finish looking at it before you make a decision."
