43: League Cup semi-finals

Halftime Score: Hartlepool United 0-0 Chelsea.

This result shocked football fans worldwide.

A League Two team had kept a clean sheet against the defending champions for 45 minutes at home!

The players walked towards the tunnel in succession.

Kasper Schmeichel was the last to leave the pitch, looking back at the Victoria Park turf.

These 45 minutes would become one of the most glorious memories of his career.

Chelsea's players walked towards the away changing room with somber expressions.

Drogba shook his head, his eyes filled with confusion and frustration.

Mourinho's expression was exceptionally serious; the Portuguese had already begun contemplating adjustments for the second half.

In the box, Lin Feng still sat calmly by the floor-to-ceiling window.

The aroma of black tea gently permeated the room.

There was no hint of surprise in his eyes, as if the 0-0 result had been within his expectations all along.

Old John pushed open the door, almost speechless with excitement.

"Sir... Sir... This is a miracle!"

His voice trembled with excitement: "Schmeichel's performance tonight... it was simply divine!"

"Your tactical setup was perfect! Every single Chelsea attack was neutralized by us!"

"Lampard's long-range shots, Drogba's headers, Ballack's attempts... all blocked!"

Lin Feng took a small sip of black tea, his gaze calmly watching the players gradually disperse from the pitch.

"John, the game is only half over."

"The real test of the second half has just begun."

Old John nodded vigorously, his admiration for Lin Feng having risen to the level of worship.

Every Chelsea attacking pattern was anticipated by him in advance.

Every tactical adjustment was spot on.

This wasn't luck; this was pure footballing wisdom.

In the stands of Victoria Park, fans were still immersed in the glory of the first half.

They sang their team's anthem loudly, preparing for the arrival of the second half.

Sleet was still falling, but no one paid attention to the change in weather.

In Lin Feng's VIP box, the warm air and the snowflakes falling outside formed two different worlds.

On the tactics board in front of him, the arrangement of red and blue magnets was identical to how it was at the end of the first half.

Old John's breathing was still rapid; he stared intently at Lin Feng, awaiting the "oracle" for the second half. He didn't even dare to sit down, clutching tightly the notebook already filled with various strange symbols and arrows.

Lin Feng's finger gently tapped the blue magnets representing Chelsea's two fullbacks.

"John, in the first half, we successfully wore down their patience."

His voice was calm, yet carried a sharpness that saw through everything.

"In the second half, they will lose their composure."

"Mourinho will urge them to attack at all costs, especially down the flanks. Ashley Cole, and Bouhlarouz, they will push forward more frequently, trying to break our defense with crosses."

Lin Feng's finger slid along the position of the magnets, deeper into Hartlepool's half.

"Behind them, that abandoned area, is our golden corridor."

"Tell Vardy and Snodgrass, in the second half, they have only one mission."

"Watch that corridor, like a venomous snake waiting for its prey, ready to deliver a fatal strike at any moment."

Old John nodded vigorously, engraving every word into his mind. Golden corridor, venomous snake—this analogy was too apt; the boss was practically a tactical poet.

The whistle for the second half blew on time.

Mourinho indeed made an adjustment.

Salomon Kalou, wearing jersey number twenty-one, replaced Joe Cole, who had a mediocre first half.

The Ivorian winger's speed and impact instantly made Chelsea's left-wing attack even sharper.

The blue tide, even more ferocious than in the first half, crashed against Hartlepool United's goal.

Victoria Park almost became a Chelsea half-pitch attacking and defending drill ground.

But Hartlepool United's defense, under Lin Feng's precise deployment, was like an iron fortress, impregnable. The players, with superhuman willpower, executed almost suffocating defensive discipline.

In the fiftieth minute, Ballack got a free-kick opportunity at the edge of the box. The German tank's heavy cannon shot, the ball whizzed towards the top corner of the goal.

Kasper Schmeichel, like an eagle spreading its wings, flew to tip the ball over the crossbar.

In the sixty-second minute, Drogba received a pass from Lampard inside the box. He used his strong body to hold off Nelson, then turned and unleashed a powerful header. The ball flew straight towards the goal.

Schmeichel, in an almost impossible situation, grazed the ball with his fingertips. The ball changed direction, skimmed the post, and rolled out for a goal kick.

The entire Victoria Park erupted in thunderous applause for this divine save.

Time ticked by, minute by minute.

Chelsea's players, facing Hartlepool United's ironclad defense and Schmeichel's god-like performance, gradually lost their composure. Their attacks became rushed, and their organization grew increasingly chaotic. Wild shots from outside the box sailed over the crossbar repeatedly, and frustrated shrugs and complaints spread among the blue jerseys.

The bugle call for a deadly counterattack quietly sounded in the seventy-second minute.

Chelsea's left-back Ashley Cole, after a failed assist, failed to track back in time. Hartlepool United's right wing-back Danny Simpson cleanly dispossessed Salomon Kalou in his own half.

He didn't hesitate for a moment.

Looked up, observed, kicked.

A precise over-the-top long pass, the ball, like a precision-guided missile, soared over half the pitch. It flew towards Gylfi Sigurðsson, who was lurking near the center circle.

The Icelandic midfielder received the ball with his back to goal. Michael Essien pounced from behind like a leopard.

Sigurðsson cleverly used his body to hold off the pressing Essien, and before the opponent could double-team him, he gently backheeled the ball with his right foot.

The ball, as if possessing a life of its own, threaded through the gap between Carvalho and Terry. It rolled into that huge, deadly empty space behind Chelsea's defense.

A black lightning bolt, like a flash of wind and electricity, shot past John Terry.

Jamie Vardy.

His speed left the experienced England captain in the dust.

One body length.

Two body lengths.

Vardy instantly shook off all the defenders, creating a once-in-a-lifetime one-on-one opportunity.

The entire world seemed to go into slow motion at this moment.

He calmly dribbled at high speed into the box, facing the onrushing goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini. Vardy's right instep, a delicate push shot.

The obedient ball rolled towards the far corner of the goal, brushing the inside of the post, and slowly settled into the net.

One-nil.

The entire Victoria Park exploded at this moment.

Tens of thousands of fans leapt from their seats, embracing and weeping with joy, cheers, screams, and team anthems reverberated through the sky, as if to tear off the stadium's roof.

In the commentary box, Dennis Wise, the Chelsea legend, couldn't help but jump from his seat, clutching his head, exclaiming in disbelief.

"Oh my God!"

"Unbelievable! Hartlepool United are leading Chelsea!"

"Jamie Vardy! He seized the only real chance of the entire match!"

"This is one of the most incredible goals I've ever seen! This League Two team is writing history!"

Alan Shearer also added excitedly.
