169: Thunderwing Corpse King
"Bastard!!" Tang Qi's dormitory window was shattered by a bolt of lightning that streaked across! His eyes were nearly bursting as he roared, smashing through the wall and soaring into the sky! In mid-air, a blinding flash of thunder erupted, and he instantly completed his Thunder Dragon Transformation! The six-meter-tall Thunder Giant Dragon let out an extremely furious roar amidst the sky full of thunder and fire, its dragon wings fanning out countless electrical sparks!
But he immediately felt a pang of trepidation! The lightning elements filling the surrounding air were abnormally violent, even producing a faint sense of suppression and repulsion toward him! The purity and ferocity of this Corpse King's thunder power actually seemed to surpass his own!
"Yan Shi! Li Mu! Organize the defense! Protect the civilians! Fast!!" Tang Qi's voice spread through the fire-engulfed base like rolling thunder. He forcibly mobilized his energy, breathing out a blast of hot, violent thunderous dragon breath toward the corpse swarm, instantly charring several first-order Flying Zombies that couldn't dodge in time into blackened husks that fell from the sky. However, more Flying Zombies nimbly scattered, pouncing toward the panicked crowd on the ground like maggots on a bone!
"Flame Lion King!!" Yan Shi, his muscular upper body bare, roared as he charged out of a burning barrack. The muscles on his arms bulged as he swung them forward. A giant lion composed entirely of scorching flames appeared out of thin air, letting out a heaven-shaking roar as it pounced toward a second-order Flying Zombie that was trying to grab a student with its sharp claws! The searing flames and cold corpse claws collided and tore at each other violently, sparks flying everywhere!
"Wood Elf! Continuous fire! Restrict them!" Li Mu had already climbed onto the roof of the relatively intact library at some point. Green light flickered intensely beside him as a slender Wood Elf holding a magnificent green energy longbow was summoned. The elf archer's eyes were sharp, and emerald energy arrows shot toward the high-speed moving enemies in the air like a rapid-fire cannon. Although their lethality was limited, they successfully interfered with the zombies' pouncing paths.
Logistics Officer, meanwhile, was like a blue butterfly weaving through the sea of fire and ruins. Her face was pale, but as her hands waved, a soft blue water light containing life force fell like sweet rain, quickly healing survivors burned by lightning or injured by falling rocks. "Don't panic! Don't be in a mess! Retreat to the underground shelter! Fast!" Her voice carried a hint of sobbing, yet she struggled to maintain her composure, her Superpower being consumed at an unprecedented rate.
However, the zombies' air raid held an absolute advantage in air superiority! These Flying Zombies dove down from various difficult-to-defend blind spots. Their sharp claws and pointed beaks easily tore through crude wooden roadblocks and sandbag fortifications, grabbing those who couldn't dodge into the high sky and then cruelly letting go... Piercing screams fell from the air, slamming heavily into everyone's hearts. The third-order Thunder-Winged Corpse King was even more like a suspended tower of death; it floated coldly high in the sky, casually waving its sharp claws to send down bolts of terrifying lightning as thick as buckets that could tear the earth apart, accurately striking every firepower point and prominent Evolver trying to organize in the base!
A massive, twisted bolt of lightning, like the whip of a god, struck directly at Tang Qi in mid-air! Tang Qi's dragon wings vibrated urgently, and he narrowly avoided it by grazing the edge of the lightning, though the violent arc still charred a large patch of his dragon scales. Directly below where he had been standing, a hole several meters in diameter was blasted into the roof of a teaching building, sending bricks and stones flying!
"No! The gap in strength is too big!!" Tang Qi was horrified. After only a few exchanges, he was already at an absolute disadvantage, with the opponent's lightning constantly eroding his defenses.
"Radio room! Quick! Quick, call Lujiang Base for help!! We are under attack by a third-order flying Corpse King! It's lightning-type! Requesting emergency support!!" While struggling to dodge the Corpse King's main attacks, Tang Qi used his massive dragon claws to tear apart several first-order Flying Zombies that pounced on him. He shouted at the top of his lungs toward the fire-lit base below, his voice carrying a trace of despair he hadn't even noticed himself.
Inside the radio room, a university student soldier with a face full of soot risked the constant lightning strikes and the violent shaking of the building to lung toward Lingchuan University's self-made radio station. He operated it quickly, sending out this desperate distress signal, which carried the life and death of over ten thousand people, to the Red Alert Legion.
The casualty numbers of the base were jumping frantically. Yan Shi's Flame Lion King was hit by the foul acid breath of a second-order Flying Zombie, letting out an unwilling wail before dissipating in the air. Yan Shi himself suffered a backlash, spitting blood as he was violently blown away by the blast wave, crashing into a pile of rubble, his fate unknown. Li Mu's Wood Elf Archer was accurately picked off by several intersecting bolts of lightning falling from the sky. He himself was also shaken off the library roof by the shockwave of an explosion, his life or death uncertain. Logistics Officer's healing speed could not keep up with the increasing rate of casualties; her Superpower was nearly exhausted, her face as white as paper, and she could barely stand.
Just then, the Thunder-Winged Corpse King seemed to have grown tired of this one-sided game of slaughter. It let out a majestic and cold hiss. As if receiving an order, all the Flying Zombies stopped their attacks simultaneously, retreating slightly like a black tide and hovering behind their king. Its cold pupils, dancing with violent electrical arcs, locked onto the most prominent and energy-rich target on the ground like searchlights—the Thunder Dragon Warrior, Tang Qi.
It slowly raised a hideous sharp claw, palm upward. A massive dark-purple lightning ball, highly compressed and containing heart-palpitating destructive energy, began to rapidly condense! The space around the lightning ball slightly distorted and collapsed due to this terrifying power, emitting an overburdened hum! The energy contained within was enough to completely wipe out a small portion of the base along with Tang Qi from the map!
Tang Qi felt that terrifying power capable of annihilating even his soul. His massive dragon pupils suddenly contracted, flashing with a hint of despair. He frantically squeezed out every bit of energy in his body, blinding thunder light gathering in his mouth, preparing to risk everything—even if it meant dying together—to stop this destructive lightning ball from falling!
At this critical moment, when everything seemed to have frozen—
"Swoosh——"
An extremely cold white breath, as if coming from the deepest part of a ten-thousand-year-old ice cave and capable of freezing the soul, shot out without warning from the side of the night sky like a comet piercing the night or a spear of judgment from beyond the heavens! Everywhere it passed, the moisture in the air instantly condensed into countless ice crystal dust, accurately hitting the terrifying dark-purple lightning ball that was about to be completed in the Corpse King's claw!
"Zzzzt—Boom!!!"
The extreme cold and the extremely violent destructive thunder collided fiercely, causing a violent explosion triggered by the energy clash! Ice crystals and electric snakes tangled and annihilated each other frantically, splashing everywhere. The blue-white shockwave produced by the explosion suddenly expanded like a ring, tearing several nearby hovering first-order Flying Zombies into pieces in mid-air!
The Thunder-Winged Corpse King was abruptly interrupted by this sudden attack. The backlash of the condensed energy made it let out a pained roar of shock and anger, its massive body swaying in the air. It snapped its hideous head around, its giant eyes dancing with electrical arcs staring deathly at the source of the attack.
Everyone who could still move, including Tang Qi who was prepared to die, instinctively looked toward that part of the night sky with eyes full of disbelief.
In a small gap in the dark clouds barely torn open by moonlight, a giant dragon with a massive body, not at all inferior to the Thunder-Winged Corpse King, was slowly lowering its altitude. This giant dragon was covered in translucent, deep-blue scales that seemed to be condensed from ancient ice, each scale reflecting a cold light. It emitted an eternal aura of extreme cold, and every flap of its massive frost dragon wings brought bursts of bitter cold wind and ice crystals. A pair of massive, sapphire-like cold vertical pupils mercilessly locked onto the Thunder-Winged Corpse King below.
What was even more shocking was that atop the head of that majestic and terrifying Frost Giant Dragon stood a tall, upright figure!
He wore a flowing blue mage robe embroidered with profound ice patterns, the hem of his robe fluttering wildly in the biting cold wind. In his hand, he held a magnificent staff taller than himself, inlaid with a massive, brilliant sapphire. The cold glow emitted by the staff was purer than the waning moon and more dazzling than the stars, illuminating his surroundings as if it were day.
He seemed to completely ignore the tragic battlefield below and that terrifying Corpse King. Instead, he habitually flicked that unruly lock of hair on his forehead with a somewhat dashing and unrestrained attitude. Then, a cynical yet supremely confident smile curled at the corners of his mouth. He spoke in a clear and teasing tone to the utterly astonished Thunder Dragon below:
"Brother Tang, we haven't seen each other for many days. Why are you in such a pathetic state? It seems I, 'The Dashing Brother,' have arrived just in time!"
His appearance and his words were like a scorching sun cast into a frozen abyss of despair, instantly dispelling the haze of death and igniting the fire of hope that had almost been extinguished in the eyes of all the survivors!
Tang Qi's massive dragon head first froze in disbelief, almost thinking he was hallucinating. Then, a surge of wild joy from surviving a disaster and an indescribable excitement burst from those giant dragon pupils! His massive dragon mouth opened, and what came out was no longer a roar, but a shout with a trembling, excited voice:
"The Dashing Brother!! It really is you!!!"
And the third-order Thunder-Winged Corpse King in the sky was now also completely enraged by this newly appeared uninvited guest, who emitted an extreme chill that it detested. It felt a powerful aura from the opponent that was not at all weaker than Tang Qi's, as well as that formidable ice power. It let out an even more furious, murderous thunderous roar, its attention shifting completely from Tang Qi to lock onto the Blue-Robed Mage on the dragon's head—The Dashing Brother!
