180: Ganzhou Large Base

Nangong Yu went to the Barracks to challenge several peak second-rank Red Alert experts and also sparred with Tanya for a while. On the second day, she returned to the Southern Military Region.

With no outsiders present, Jiang Xin no longer hesitated. He chose a relatively flat, undeveloped, and vast plain on the outskirts of the South District of Qianzhou City.

"System, site selection confirmed. Deploy large-scale survivor base," he muttered in his heart.

In the next moment, the power of technology far beyond human imagination began to manifest. There was no deafening construction noise, nor was there dust flying everywhere. In the sky above the selected plain, space seemed to become distorted, rippling like water. Immediately after, countless huge, shimmering metallic prefabricated modules, as if controlled by an invisible giant hand, were slowly "printed" out of the void, landing precisely at their designated positions.

Foundations, walls, pipelines, defensive fortifications... everything was proceeding at high speed using a nearly miraculous "Chrono-space Dimensional Splicing Technology." Huge city wall modules were stacked layer by layer like building blocks. sentry gun towers and Machine Gun Bunkers rotated themselves into place, and the riverbed of the moat was instantly shaped, as clear water surged out from a chrono-space tunnel. Residential buildings, factories, power stations, and other structures rose from the ground at a speed visible to the naked eye. The entire construction process was quiet, efficient, and filled with the shock of future technology.

Not long after, a magnificent, sturdy, and fully functional giant base stood on the plain like a miracle!

The magnificent city walls, 15 meters high and 4 meters wide, coiled like a steel dragon. The walls were cast from reinforced concrete with a specially polished smooth surface. On the walls, sentry guns and Machine Gun Bunkers were arranged in a crossfire configuration, their dark muzzles and barrels exuding a cold murderous intent. At the top of the towering towers and bunkers, huge searchlights were like the eyes of a giant. Outside the wall, a moat 10 meters wide and 20 meters deep flowed rapidly, shimmering in the sunlight, forming an impassable natural chasm. The heavy alloy gate, which lifted in one piece, was covered in rivets and looked indestructible.

The military district and the residential district were strictly divided by high inner walls to prevent ordinary residents from prying into core Red Alert secrets. All kinds of buildings were available within the base, and its scale, configuration, and level of advancement were exactly the same as the Lujiang main base, and even more complete in some living facilities.

Once the base was completed, Jiang Xin did not pause for a moment. He connected his consciousness to the system and directly began producing garrison troops. "System, produce 3 Standard Battalions." 195,000 gold was instantly deducted. All Barracks operated simultaneously, and soon, 1,512 well-equipped Red Alert Soldiers with neat military bearing were produced at the Qianzhou Base.

"Assign vehicles!" Following the command, the War Factory roared. 18 kamikaze military trucks, 30 armored personnel carriers, 9 grizzly tanks, and 6 rhino tanks drove out in sequence, completing the formation with the soldiers. This round of production consumed a total of 241,800 gold.

A powerful garrison force was instantly formed.

Jiang Xin looked at all this with satisfaction. Tomorrow, the National Government's transport plane would deliver the gold for the arms purchase, and at the same time, take away the pre-ordered 10 apocalypse tanks and 10 tesla tanks, along with the corresponding ammunition. By then, his system funds would skyrocket to a terrifying two million! The future was promising.

Since the large-scale base came with its own ammunition supply station, the massive amount of ammunition promised to support the Southern Military Region did not need to be transported from Lujiang. It could be produced directly in Qianzhou, saving a lot of transportation trouble.

These days, the troops' search and rescue work had never stopped, and they had successfully rescued 100,000 people from all over Qianzhou. They were temporarily settled in a temporary reception area built with Color Steel Houses on the outskirts of the city.

Although safety was guaranteed, the temporary living conditions were harsh. The Color Steel Houses were crowded, humid, and the air was foul. The noise of raindrops hitting the roof when it rained made it even harder to sleep. Dissatisfaction and complaints were inevitable.

In a female Color Steel House crowded with more than thirty people, the women were chattering.

"What kind of life is this! Dozens of people squeezed into a tin box. The smell of sweat, smelly feet, and an indescribable strange smell... it's suffocating! It's even worse than a pigsty!" A woman about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old pinched her nose and complained in a shrill voice. Although her hair was greasy and messy, if you looked closely, her facial features were quite good, and she had some charm, but now her face was full of disdain.

"Little girl, you have a place to stay and food to eat. Be content that you don't have to feed the zombies! Still picking and choosing? Do you think it's still like before?" An auntie who was tidying up her shabby bedding couldn't listen anymore. She looked up and retorted crossly.

"None of your business, old woman! You have the strongest smell here, covered in sour sweat. Can you stay away from me?" The young woman was not polite at all and even exaggeratedly fanned the air in front of her nose with her hand, looking disdainful.

"You!" The auntie's face turned red with anger. "Little girl, keep your mouth clean! Who wants to be near you!"

"What? Did I hit a nerve? Are you triggered? Haha!" Instead, the young woman laughed loudly and triumphantly, her tone full of provocation.

The auntie already had a hot temper. How could she stand this? She immediately threw down the things in her hand and rushed forward with a roar: "I'll tear your foul mouth apart!" The two instantly scuffled together, pulling each other's hair and clothes. Curses and cries suddenly rang out.

"Old fat woman! Let go of me!"

"Dead girl! You let go first! See if I don't teach you a lesson!"

Some of the other women around watched coldly, while others tried to mediate, but they were all pushed away. The room was in chaos.

Just then, with a "bang," the door of the Color Steel House was kicked open.

"What are you doing! Stop it!"

Several Red Alert Soldiers responsible for patrolling and maintaining order rushed in. Seeing the two scuffling, they were not polite. They stepped forward and used their rifle butts to give each of them a blow, forcibly separating them and knocking them to the ground. Their movements were clean and agile, without the slightest hint of mercy.

"What are you doing? Do you have nothing better to do after eating? You want to fight?" A soldier squad leader had a cold face and scolded them sternly. Although Red Alert Soldiers were not emotionless clones, they absolutely obeyed Jiang Xin's orders and would never tolerate behavior that disturbed order.

"Soldier! Are you crazy! You dare hit me?!" The young woman was hit until she saw stars, and she felt half of her body go numb. She touched her burning cheek and actually spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva. She was suddenly shocked and angry, and began to wail and throw a tantrum on the ground, "My face! Look at my face! It's all swollen from your hitting! Is there no rule of law anymore!"

The Red Alert Soldiers just looked at her expressionlessly, their eyes cold and indifferent, as if looking at a pile of insignificant data. The instructions they received were to maintain order, not to take care of women.

Just then, a military officer wearing a first lieutenant rank walked in upon hearing the noise. His gaze swept over the chaotic scene, and he frowned slightly. "Everyone, listen up!" He stood with his hands behind his back, his voice loud and clear, instantly drowning out all the crying and talking. "Pack your personal belongings immediately! The Legion has built a new permanent residential base for you! Everyone, start moving immediately!"

The crowd fell silent instantly. Everyone looked at the first lieutenant, their eyes filled with confusion and a hint of disbelief.

The first lieutenant continued to announce: "The new base will issue you new identification documents. Points will be recorded in the documents. Points are the circulation vouchers within the base, used to purchase food, daily necessities, and other commodities. Points need to be obtained through labor!"

The people in the Color Steel House looked at each other. Labor? Most of them had been idle these days, occasionally helping to move things. Suddenly hearing that they had to work, they were all a bit at a loss.

"Of... Officer, what kind of work is there?" An honest-looking woman plucked up her courage and asked in a small voice.

"The base has opened various factories, breeding farms, and plantations. Workers are needed for production, breeding, weaving, and other tasks. Assignments will be made based on your physical condition, age, skills, and wishes," the first lieutenant explained.

"Then... are we still living together? Or in this kind of house?" another woman asked timidly. She had really had enough of the Color Steel House dormitory.

A trace of an imperceptible smile appeared on the first lieutenant's face: "The new base has built enough 18-story residential buildings. The standard is four adults allocated to an 80-square-meter Unit with two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom. If it's a family of three or more, you can apply for a separate Unit."

"Residential buildings? Are they... the kind with running water, electricity, and independent toilets?" The young woman who was still throwing a tantrum on the ground just now stopped wailing instantly. She scrambled up and rushed to the first lieutenant, her eyes wide, shimmering with disbelief and extreme longing, not even caring about her swollen cheek.

"Everything is available. The base will provide water and electricity uniformly, but all costs need to be paid with the Points you earn through labor. For the first month, board and lodging are free, which is considered time for you to accumulate Points. From the second month onwards, everything will follow the rules." After the first lieutenant explained concisely, he said no more and signaled the soldiers to start organizing the people to gather and prepare for the migration.

"Great! This is great! I finally don't have to squeeze in with these old hags anymore! I want to take a bath! I want to take a hot bath comfortably! For an hour!" The young woman was so happy she almost jumped up, instantly forgetting the pain on her face and the unpleasantness just now, and excitedly began to pack her pitifully small amount of luggage in a flurry.

Her mood infected everyone. Not just her, but almost everyone who heard the news had a smile of wild joy and anticipation on their face! Independent rooms! Clean toilets! Stable water and electricity! This was a life they hadn't even dared to think about after the end of the world broke out!

Soon, squads of survivors, under the guidance of the soldiers, left the crowded and noisy Color Steel House area with excitement and longing, and headed towards that towering and majestic city of miracles—the Qianzhou Survivor Base.

At the entrance of the base, they lined up in long queues and carefully received the ID Card with a special texture, personal information, and an initial barcode from the Red Alert Engineers. Housing allocation used a combination of voluntary combination and random allocation. The official encouraged the formation of families, stipulating that if a man and a woman voluntarily married, they could be allocated a separate house, but they were required to give birth to at least one child within two years (to increase the population), and could not divorce arbitrarily without special circumstances like domestic violence (to maintain stability). Furthermore, the property rights of the house still belonged to the base.

The survivors stroked the cards in their hands that symbolized a new identity and a new beginning. Looking at the towering city walls, wide streets, neat buildings, and patrolling steel soldiers before them, many were moved to tears of joy.

They knew that the days of wandering and living in fear were finally over. They were finally... home. In a new home built of steel and order, protected by a powerful army.
