179: Chapter 179 Discussing Illnesses

Chapter 179: Discussing the Illness

A suffocating silence hung in the dark space.

It felt as though it had been completely swallowed by some monster, evoking an unknown feeling of oppression.

Fang Cheng's feet did not touch the ground; he floated in the air.

Having long been accustomed to cultivating alone in the deep sea, his heart remained unruffled; instead, he was quite comfortable and calm.

Though the surroundings appeared endlessly dark, Fang Cheng could clearly sense that the actual area here was not large.

It was like a room with the lights off, its walls draped in curtains made of black silk.

When he first walked in, he had even heard the heavy thud of a door shutting behind him.

However, the room seemed unfinished, with no floor beneath his feet, forcing him to settle for floating in place.

Fang Cheng looked around, then slowly turned to face the deepest part of the darkness.

Suddenly, he spoke:

"Hello."

After about ten seconds, a response indeed came from the darkness to his polite greeting.

"I'm not doing well."

The voice was soft, cold, and possessed a sickly quality.

Then, a figure emitting a faint glow emerged from the darkness.

The light was dark green, outlining only the contour of the figure.

Consequently, its facial features were extremely blurred and unrecognizable, like a ghost wandering in the dark night.

"You've finally come..."

The figure stared intently at Fang Cheng and uttered a low sigh, appearing to have waited for a long time.

Although his face couldn't be clearly seen, the chilling gaze projected from him was distinctly palpable.

Fang Cheng paused in silence for a few seconds before asking:

"Who on earth are you? What business do you have with me?"

The figure seemed to curl his lips upwards as he introduced himself:

"You may call me the Smiling Demon."

Pausing briefly, he continued at an unhurried pace:

"As for why I looked for you... as a fellow kind, I caught the scent of another like me and couldn't contain my curiosity."

"So, sending me postcards twice in a row was just to express your curiosity?"

Fang Cheng stared at him and asked calmly.

The figure froze for a moment upon hearing this, then said:

"I'm afraid you've gotten one thing wrong."

Hearing this, Fang Cheng could not help but be slightly taken aback.

The figure appeared quite annoyed as he immediately explained:

"I sent you a whole three invitations! Only tonight did you finally spare the time to condescend to visit my humble abode."

Immediately afterward, as if realizing a key issue, he muttered to himself:

"So that means I lost one of the postcards myself? Damn it, looks like I misunderstood you..."

As he spoke, he let out a genuine sigh of relief, as if he had solved a long-standing puzzle, appearing greatly relieved and unusually delighted.

Looking at this somewhat unhinged guy, Fang Cheng felt far less relaxed than he did.

He speculated in his mind that while he was traveling on Yongan Island, the other party must have seen no reply from him and sent another postcard.

His mother, unaware of the situation, must have put it away when she returned home and forgot to tell him after several days had passed.

Thinking that his mother might have crossed paths with the killer before him,

a surge of killing intent welled up in Fang Cheng's heart, though he did not let it show.

However...

whether it was because they were inside the Voice Chatroom or not,

the other party seemed exceptionally sensitive, immediately bursting into repeated praises:

"What intense killing intent! Truly worthy of being one of my kind, a Genius with top-tier predator talent!"

Fang Cheng maintained a calm expression, ignoring his grandstanding words.

He then got straight to the point:

"I'm here now. If you have something to say, say it directly. If it's just small talk, I'm sorry, it's late and I'm going back to sleep. Excuse me."

"Ah, it's rare to meet someone of my kind who can communicate. Why not chat a bit more? Don't you usually feel lonely?"

The figure grumbled a bit, then suddenly shifted his tone and asked solemnly:

"How is your condition right now?"

"What?"

Fang Cheng was left somewhat bewildered by this abrupt question.

"I investigated you. From middle school to college, from graduation to working, you've always lived like the most ordinary human, never suffering an episode or showing any signs of violence to those around you."

The figure continued, raising a question:

"How exactly did you do it? How can you control your words and actions so perfectly?"

Fang Cheng's eyes flickered slightly upon hearing this, and he remained silent.

Although he didn't understand what he meant by "condition,"

seeing that the other party seemed to treat him as a kindred spirit without showing much malice, it was better to maintain this image, guide the flow of conversation, and gather useful information.

Thoughts racing in his mind, Fang Cheng replied in a flat tone:

"It's simple. Practice Meditation, and through spiritual cultivation, continuously improve your willpower..."

He simply recycled the lines Lin Chuqiao had told him on the spot.

No error, first release, content in view!

The figure seemed to frown, looking somewhat perplexed:

"I practiced Meditation for ten years, and I consider my level superior even to the teacher who taught me. Why can't I do it?"

"Do you have a fixed target for Meditation?"

"Aren't we regarded as demons and monsters precisely because we can't find a suitable target for Meditation?"

Fang Cheng nodded, pretending to agree.

"So to prevent my condition from recurring, I chose a very suitable target."

"What target?"

The figure pressed impatiently.

"Myself."

"Hehehe, hahaha!"

Hearing this, the figure was stunned for a moment before bursting into loud laughter:

"You are even crazier than I am! You actually developed schizophrenia!"

Fang Cheng looked at him speechlessly.

When I tell the truth, you refuse to believe it. Do you insist on making me lie?

"So you're a schizophrenia patient."

The figure continued shaking his head and laughing, muttering:

"No wonder you usually look like an ordinary office worker, yet killed two hundred people in a row that night without batting an eye. That record could put you on the national historical leaderboard for serial killers..."

Hearing this, Fang Cheng's eyes narrowed:

"You were nearby that night too?"

"Of course."

The figure spoke with slight dissatisfaction, "Those scoundrels from the Red Tiger Gang were originally my planned prey, but unfortunately, you snatched them away first."

Learning about this, numerous thoughts flashed through Fang Cheng's mind.

Suddenly, his eyes hardened, and light burst forth from all around his body.

As if instantly merging into one with the lantern flame in his mind, his previously dim figure became extraordinarily bright.

Incandescent rays shot out like sharp arrows, piercing through the surrounding darkness and shaking the Foundation of the room.

"Wait!"

Seeing this, the figure attempted to stop him, but let out a cry of pain instead.

Immediately, the surrounding darkness shattered like a mirror, restoring the scene of the bedroom.

Fang Cheng had already exited the Voice Chatroom and returned to reality.

In a dark and dead silent church in the Xiguan suburbs,

looking at the faint burn marks appearing on his palm, the young man gritted his teeth into a grin and laughed with unusual joy.

As though the injuries sustained in the spiritual space could affect reality as well.
