19: Chapter 19 Extra Rewards

Chapter 19: Excessive Reward (Please Keep Reading!)

Monday, morning peak hours.

Jiangdong District, Maocheng Intersection Station.

Through the curtain of rain, a bus bearing a breast enhancement advertisement endorsed by a female celebrity pulled up and stopped at the station.

Fang Cheng opened his umbrella and jumped down from the open rear door.

He looked up at the colorful umbrellas moving along the road.

Then, stepping through the accumulated water that almost covered the sidewalk, he walked toward the brightly lit Wantong Shopping Center.

Due to his job transfer, his scheduled day off had been moved from Monday to Friday.

As a result, he had to work almost two consecutive weeks.

But for Fang Cheng, this was actually a good thing.

He walked briskly to the club, folded his umbrella, and hung it on the rack near the entrance.

It was already 9:30 AM, and the venue still seemed relatively quiet.

Aside from the sound of colleagues punching in and chatting, there was none of the usual blood-pumping atmosphere.

Because it had been raining continuously for days and was a weekday, significantly fewer students had come to train or take classes.

The entire training hall was mostly empty, with only a few professional fighters doing their daily training.

Fang Cheng walked straight into the locker room and unlocked his locker with a key.

He took out a set of blue work clothes and a pair of lightweight Puma anti-slip Boxing shoes.

Then he pulled a plastic bag from his bag, containing another clean set of clothes and shoes.

Working at the club required paying attention to personal image and hygiene in addition to attendance and performance.

Fang Cheng took off his slightly soaked shoes, sat on a bench, put on his Boxing shoes, and tied the laces.

Just then, a figure suddenly walked toward him.

"A-Cheng, how is it after transferring to the Sanda Department? Are you getting used to it?"

His tone was gentle, carrying a surprising hint of concern.

Fang Cheng looked up at the newcomer.

Seeing that it was Chen Xiaohai, who was in charge of the Karate Department, he replied casually:

"It's alright."

"If you need any help, just let me know. After all, I've worked here for ten years, so I know the ropes pretty well."

"Okay, thanks, Brother Hai."

Fang Cheng nodded, his response as brief as usual.

Chen Xiaohai smiled, patted Fang Cheng's shoulder, and walked out of the locker room.

His actions left other colleagues somewhat bewildered.

Since when did the two of them become so close?

Whistling with his hands behind his back, Chen Xiaohai walked into Hall No. 2, looking quite relaxed and comfortable.

Over the past week, his mood had been like a rollercoaster, going up and down.

When he heard that Fang Cheng had refused an internship in the marketing department and offended Manager Li, his previous hostility instantly vanished.

From time to time, he would even show concern and offer a few words of comfort to Fang Cheng, seemingly acting like the ideal workplace Senior who cared most for newcomers.

Of course, in private, he would also say that Fang Cheng was young and hot-headed, bent on becoming a big lawyer, and looked down on a small place like this club.

...

"From an orthodox stance, turn left; from a southpaw stance, circle right..."

"Once your waist Moves, your base must lead the way..."

Inside Training Hall No. 1, Xu Maocai's loud voice could be heard across the entire thousand-square-meter venue.

Fang Cheng stood with his hands behind his back, silently watching a group of students practice various wrestling Moves and power generation techniques under the coach's instructions.

This class was an advanced course for Senior students, focusing mainly on the application of Wrestling Techniques in Sanda.

Kicking, striking, throwing, and grappling are known as the four major techniques of Sanda.

The former two absorbed relatively advanced and practical combat techniques from abroad.

The latter two were the essence extracted from traditional domestic martial arts.

Moreover, by comparison, the Moves were more concise and practical, free from the fancy flourishes of traditional routines.

To summarize Xu Maocai's lecture, Wrestling Techniques came down to a single sentence:

"Leverage momentum to sweep the base, lock the legs, and lean in close!"

"You only need to remember that all Wrestling Techniques in actual combat revolve around these four key points."

Xu Maocai suddenly stopped the students practicing basics and had them pair up for sparring.

The students paired up, attempting various takedowns and leg-catch throws with each other.

Some took turns throwing their partners like sandbags to review technical Moves, while others grappled with brute force in a deadlock.

Fang Cheng watched them attentively.

While recalling the coach's lecture, he analyzed the mistakes in their movements.

Gradually, an enlightenment dawned on him.

If Punching techniques and Kicking Techniques are mainly about maintaining balance, then Wrestling Techniques are all about destroying the opponent's balance.

Success does not necessarily require throwing the opponent completely to the ground.

In actual combat, any part of the body—arms, torso, hips, or legs—can be used to execute techniques.

Simply putting the opponent in an unstable state is already half the battle.

Then, with a gentle lean and embrace, you can leverage momentum to bring them down.

Alternatively, you can swiftly follow up with Punching techniques or Kicking Techniques for a fierce assault.

Either option is several times more effective than relying on sheer strength alone.

The students didn't think as deeply as Fang Cheng; they were simply having a blast.

In a class of fewer than ten people, one lucky student was left to practice directly with the coach.

Thwack!

The lucky student was flipped onto the ground with a clean and crisp Shoulder Throw Over the Back.

Although the floor was padded, it still took him a while to recover and climb back up.

Xu Maocai said solemnly:

"Look at that. Even if I stand still and let him try to throw me, he can't budge me. But with a casual tug from me, he immediately falls."

"Why? Because your strength is too weak!"

"If you want to achieve results, relying solely on three physical fitness classes a week is far from enough. Go home and stick to doing a few more sets of Squats. Try again in a month, and your lower body will definitely be far sturdier than it is now."

The others laughed and chatted, not taking it seriously.

The lucky student, meanwhile, had a bitter expression as he rubbed his butt.

After all, nobody wanted to be thrown around like a sack of grain.

Fang Cheng, however, looked on with envy, genuinely wishing he could step up and replace that student to test the feel of it.

Error-free initial release content.

The morning group class quickly came to an end.

When lunch time arrived, Fang Cheng went to the front desk to pick up his food, returning with three packed bags in hand.

One was the company staff meal, while the other two were chicken drumstick rice meals he had ordered via delivery.

Seeing this, his colleagues couldn't help asking curiously if he had been starving for days to have such a huge appetite.

Fang Cheng didn't explain much, simply saying he hadn't eaten breakfast and was just eating two meals in one.

In reality...

After his morning workout, he had devoured ten boiled eggs, three cartons of pure milk, plus a steamer basket of small steamed buns from the breakfast shop downstairs.

The reason his appetite had become so ridiculous was entirely due to practicing Squats.

That's right.

Between the two enhancement rewards yesterday, Fang Cheng had ultimately chosen the second one.

It added 1 point to his strength attribute and granted him the passive effect of the skill "The Aloof".

Setting aside the topic of his morning wood...

Fang Cheng had read the book Convict Conditioning, so he knew the fundamental principle of muscle building was actually very simple.

It was about tearing some of the muscle fibers in specific muscle groups through overload resistance training first,

and then utilizing the body's natural self-healing capacity to repair and restructure them.

The human body's physiological mechanism was truly remarkable.

To prevent similar occurrences in the future, a supercompensation phenomenon would occur during this process,

making them harder and thicker, thereby strengthening the Physique and reducing injury.

Bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments operated similarly, following this training mechanism within a certain tolerable limit.

As the most active androgen, testosterone was the crucial driving force behind this supercompensation.

The effect of "The Aloof" allowed his body to secrete a higher concentration of testosterone than ordinary people during workouts,

thereby stimulating muscle and bone growth and reinforcement, continuously increasing muscle size and bone density.

This meant that for the same amount of training, the results would be multiplied several times over.

Naturally, the dietary intake required by his body would also increase significantly.

Such an enhancement effect might seem a bit weird on the surface...

...but in truth, it was genuinely a god-tier skill for over-rewarding oneself!

As Fang Cheng munched on a chicken drumstick, his attention was completely focused on the status panel.

Clicking into the character attribute panel, dense streams of notification messages instantly appeared before his eyes.

After testing and verifying yesterday and today, he filtered out dozens of relevant notifications from them.

It was clear that each time he practiced Squats and gained 1 experience point,

afterward, whether he continued working out or doing chores, the frequency of notifications showing a 0.001 point increase in both his Physique and strength attributes became abnormally high.

The agility attribute showed relatively normal behavior, but it still experienced a noticeable and respectable gain.

This effect lasted for about two hours, following a gradually declining trend.

It was practically equivalent to some fitness fanatics recklessly injecting themselves with massive doses of testosterone.

Fortunately, since Fang Cheng was using a skill within what his Physique could bear, the negative side effects were greatly reduced.

At most, his body would feel a bit hot and restless, his blood flow would speed up, and he would occasionally get a nosebleed.

"It's fine..."

Chewing on a chicken bone, Fang Cheng quietly comforted himself:

"As long as my Physique is strong enough, these minor side effects can be completely ignored."

Cleaning up his three finished meal boxes, Fang Cheng walked out of the locker room and threw the packaging bags into the sorting bin near the corner.

Turning to look at the training hall, he spotted the figures of several professional fighters who had always been diligent.

They seemingly hadn't eaten lunch and were still persisting with anaerobic strength training, such as weighted Squats and barbell plate presses.

Fang Cheng felt a surge of motivation and couldn't help recalling the training plan he had made for himself.

Now that the "Squat" skill had been enhanced and turned into a true "refueling pump,"

it would be a huge waste not to make full use of it.

"Looks like I'll have to ramp up the intensity too!"

Fang Cheng thought to himself, turning back toward the locker room.

Next, he prepared to challenge higher-difficulty movement options.
