569: Chapter 569 The Tender Light of Dawn

The night grew thicker, and a warm breeze wafted through the window, carrying the faint fragrance of the spiritual flowers from the courtyard, lingering amidst the plain silk bed curtains.

The shadows cast by the warm candlelight flickered, blending their embracing figures into a tender scene etched into their very bones.

Situ Jun held the woman in his arms, who was filled with joy. His movements were gentle to the extreme, pouring all his deep affection, concern, and reluctance into this single moment.

Spiritual Qi intertwined as their affections lingered; every touch carried burning expectations and undying devotion.

The night was full of tenderness. The spiritual flowers in the courtyard swayed gently in the night wind, dissolving the room's warmth and intimacy into the quiet night of Northern Border City.

Inside the room, the candlelight gradually burned out, leaving only the faint, clear moonlight streaming through the window. It draped softly over their overlapping figures, as gentle as a pool of spring water.

At the break of dawn, pale golden morning light pierced through the thin clouds and the silk curtains over the carved wooden window. It shattered into gentle patches of light that fell softly upon the cloud-patterned brocade bed, dispelling the last trace of the night's chill.

After a night of lingering warmth, Jiang Yan remained nestled in Situ Jun's arms, sleeping peacefully and quietly.

Her brow was relaxed, and her long eyelashes drooped like butterfly wings, casting a faint shadow on her fair, delicate cheeks.

Her cherry lips were slightly pouted, carrying a lingering blush of shyness. She was as docile as a well-behaved kitten, pressed tightly against his warm chest, her fingertips still lightly clutching the brocade quilt at his waist in a display of complete reliance.

Situ Jun woke up amidst a soft, fragrant warmth. Upon opening his eyes, he saw her tranquil sleeping face right before him.

The morning light fell softly on her jade-like skin, casting a moist glow. The faint marks left by the previous night's intimacy were hidden within her loosened collar, adding a touch of bone-deep charm.

He lowered his gaze and watched her quietly, his eyes so tender they seemed capable of dripping water. Subconsciously, he tightened his arm, holding her closer in his embrace.

Feeling her warm body temperature and her steady, soft breathing, his heart was filled with bone-deep doting and reluctance.

He tilted his head slightly, his nose lightly brushing against the soft crown of her head. As he inhaled the faint scent of magnolia lingering in her hair, the softness in his heart deepened further.

The deep affection of the previous night and her shy yet determined appearance surfaced in his mind repeatedly. He only felt how fortunate he was in this life to have met someone who treated him with such devotion.

Perhaps his movements, though incredibly gentle, had ultimately disturbed her peaceful dream.

Jiang Yan's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her drowsy eyes.

Her eyes still held the misty haze of just waking up, looking bright and moving. When she clearly saw the face so close to her, she was momentarily stunned. Then, remembering everything from the previous night, her cheeks instantly flushed a dizzying crimson. Even the tips of her ears grew hot as she instinctively shrank into his embrace, too shy to look directly into his deep eyes.

"Awake?"

Situ Jun chuckled softly, his low voice carrying the raspiness of someone who had just woken up, magnetic and gentle.

He lowered his head to plant a soft kiss on her smooth forehead, his fingertips slowly combing through the black hair scattered on the pillow. His movements were extremely gentle, for fear of startling the beauty in his arms.

Jiang Yan buried herself in his chest. The crisp aura on his body, mixed with the faint spiritual fragrance of vegetation, made her heart feel completely at peace.

She looked up at him timidly, the mist in her eyes not yet dissipated, filled with shyness and tenderness. Her voice was soft and lazy, with a faint raspiness from just waking, as quiet as a mosquito's buzz:

"Husband..."

This soft call was as sweet as if it were soaked in honey, lightly scratching at Situ Jun's heartstrings. It caused his heart to tremble, and he lowered his head to kiss her lips once more.

This kiss was not as burning and intense as the night before; instead, it was soft and long, carrying the lingering tenderness of the morning. They lingered over each other, their breaths mingling, so gentle it could completely melt a person.

Jiang Yan closed her eyes obediently and reached up to lightly wrap her arms around his waist, leaning close to him and fully responding to this bone-deep, gentle kiss.

Her long eyelashes trembled incessantly, and the blush on her cheeks grew more intense. The moist Earth Spiritual Qi around her body began to flow slowly and unconsciously, intertwining once again with the aura around him. It condensed into a faint, soft light, gently enveloping the two of them.

The morning light grew softer, spilling over their overlapping and leaning figures. The plain silk bed curtains hung low, and the room was silent, save for their intersecting warm breaths and the gentle, lingering kiss. It was a continuous cycle of tenderness, rendering the unfinished emotions of the previous night even thicker and deeper.

After a long time, Situ Jun slowly released her lips. His fingertips lightly brushed against the corners of her reddened mouth. His gaze was deep, filled with reluctance and affection. He lowered his head to rest his forehead against hers, whispering softly:

"I wish I could just stay with you like this forever, accompanying our future child, staying in the Northern Border, staying in this small corner of the world where I have your company."

Jiang Yan's heart felt a pang of sorrow, yet it was also brimming with tenderness. She reached up to lightly cover his lips, not letting him speak such melancholy and sad words again.

Her eyes held determination, and even more so, they hid a profound attachment:

"Husband, do not be sad. I will always wait for you, and... our future child will also always be waiting to meet you."

At the mention of the child, her cheeks turned even redder, but her eyes sparkled with the soft light of glowing expectation. Her small hand lightly covered her lower abdomen, her heart full of hope. She only wished to conceive his flesh and blood soon, so it could become a bond in his heart and a source of hope for her to endure the thousand years of time.

Seeing her shy yet expectant look, a surge of warmth flooded Situ Jun's heart. His voice was low and gentle, every word sincere:

"Yaner, thank you. I am grateful to fate for letting me meet you in this life."

His fingertips lightly hooked her hand, and he interlaced his fingers with hers, holding tight, unwilling to part.

Jiang Yan looked at him, tears shimmering in her eyes, yet they were entirely filled with the warmth of happiness.

She took the initiative to lean forward, lightly kissing the corner of his mouth, and responded softly:

"To be able to meet you, Husband, is also the greatest blessing of my life."

The morning light became even brighter, and the room was filled with warmth. There were no redundant words, only the gentleness of leaning on each other and the increasingly thick, lingering affection.

The two of them held each other tightly, quietly enjoying this moment of peaceful warmth, carving each other's figures deep into their hearts.

Even if a long separation was approaching, the deep sincerity of this moment was enough to endure the countless days and nights of longing ahead, and to keep this thousand-year unchanging affection.

...

After embracing for a long time, Jiang Yan finally rose from his arms. Her fingertips lightly gathered the black hair scattered over her shoulders. Her eyes were still full of shyness as she looked down, her movements gentle as she straightened his slightly wrinkled collar.

Situ Jun just watched her quietly like that, his gaze constantly fixed on her, refusing to look away for even a second, as if he wanted to firmly etch every smile and expression of hers into the depths of his soul.

"Husband, let me serve you while you wash up."

She spoke softly, and as soon as the words left her mouth, she moved to get out of bed, only to be pulled back into his arms by Situ Jun.

He leaned over and kissed the crown of her head again, his voice incredibly gentle:

"No rush. With me here, there is no need for you to trouble yourself with everything."

With that, he rose himself and called for the maids waiting outside, instructing them to prepare warm water, washing supplies, and morning snacks.

Before long, the maids treaded lightly as they brought the items into the room. They stood outside the inner hall with lowered heads, not daring to disturb the two inside.

The warm water in the copper basin rippled slightly, reflecting the morning light from the window. Situ Jun picked up a silk handkerchief, dipped it in the warm water, and carefully wiped Jiang Yan's cheeks, his movements gentle and cautious.

Jiang Yan tilted her head up, obediently letting him attend to her. Her eyes were full of tenderness, and she watched him without blinking, afraid of missing even a fraction of his appearance.

Her fingertips lightly tugged at his sleeve, her heart full of reluctance, only wishing that time could move slower, even slower.

After the washing was finished, Jiang Yan personally tied up his hair.

She took a Mutton-fat Jade Hairpin, her fingertips running through his jet-black hair, combing it straight bit by bit, before firmly inserting the jade hairpin into his hair.

That jade hairpin was one she had personally selected. It was lustrous throughout and carved with intertwining magnolias, just like their inseparable, tangled affections.
