89: The belated wedding dress
Jiang Yumei's fingertips brushed against the side of his neck, and her breath, fragrant with the scent of Medicinal Pills, swept past his ear. Situ Jun nearly knocked over the celadon medicine jar on the desk.
She let out a soft laugh, her warm cheek pressed against his chest. Listening to that drum-like heartbeat, she suddenly remembered the despair of the Embroiderer when she asked for help during the day.
Being held in this warm embrace at this moment, she actually felt as if a lifetime had passed.
A soft chuckle escaped Situ Jun's throat. His long arms steadily supported Jiang Yumei as he followed her intermittent guidance through the corridor.
Moonlight filtered through the carved window lattices, casting mottled shadows on the two of them. The air was filled with the unique bitter scent of Spiritual Plants, intertwined with an ambiguous sweetness.
Every step seemed to tread upon their hearts, carrying endless tenderness and love.
As they passed through the winding corridor, Jiang Yumei had recovered some of her strength and reached out to brush away the messy strands of hair on his forehead.
Her fingertips touched his burning skin. Situ Jun suddenly lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead:
"Yumei... Tomorrow I will go and deal with that Zhuang Xian. I definitely won't let you worry about this matter anymore."
Her eyes flickered slightly as she stood on her tiptoes, their breaths merging under the moonlight.
The night wind swept past their embracing figures, making her sleeves rustle loudly.
Jiang Yumei suddenly hooked her arms around his neck and panted softly in his ear:
"Compared to Zhuang Xian... I am more afraid of you... afraid of you taking risks for me."
Situ Jun gently embraced her, his palm pressed against the fresh medicinal fragrance on her back—the traces she had picked up while treating the Embroiderer.
The two of them snuggled quietly, letting the moonlight pour over their shoulders. After a long time, Jiang Yumei looked at the burning determination in his eyes and suddenly reached out to touch his brows:
"Situ, do you know that the first time I saw you, I felt you were different from others? The aura on your body fascinates me; it feels as if we have known each other for a long time."
Situ Jun was filled with emotion upon hearing this, his voice deep and gentle:
"When I first saw you, I marveled at your kindness and felt heartache that you bore so much alone. Fortunately, the heavens still brought you to my side."
His palm gently covered the back of her hand, conveying a silent promise.
The two leaned against a corridor pillar, looking at the stars flowing in the night sky.
Jiang Yumei rested her head gently on his shoulder, telling stories of the Spirit Herb Hall. Situ Jun listened quietly, responding from time to time.
The moonlight was like water, stretching their shadows long and intertwining them.

Outside the window, the night dew grew heavy. The candlelight flickered between the gauze curtains, painting the two leaning figures into a warm silhouette.
In the quiet night, Situ Jun finally calmed down to check the System. Fortunately, he hadn't used up all his heavenly luck value; he still had 6800 points. Otherwise, his cultivation might have regressed or everything would have been lost.
The only thing that put him at ease was that every Dao Companion with a favorability of 100 would contribute 5 heavenly luck value every day.
"It seems the System's 'newbie' protection period is over. From now on, I'll have to rely on heavenly luck value to enhance my Luck just like everyone else."
Situ Jun murmured to himself, a sharp light flashing in his eyes as he gently pulled the sleeping Jiang Yumei closer.
When the morning light was faint, Jiang Yumei woke up with her head on Situ Jun's chest.
The moonlight from last night still seemed to linger on his eyelashes, but his brows and eyes carried a tenderness she had never seen before.
As her fingertips brushed against the medicine stains on his chest, she suddenly remembered something and sat up: "Oh no! I still have to help the Embroiderer move her belongings today!"
Situ Jun laughed and pulled her back into his arms, kissing the top of her head:
"What's the rush? No matter how big the matter is, I'm here."
Before his voice could fade, a commotion suddenly came from outside the courtyard—it was the noise of the Spirit Herb Hall opening for business.
Amidst the noise, someone was shouting, looking for Jiang Yumei to refine Medicinal Pills.
Jiang Yumei's face turned crimson, but she was gently pressed back into the blankets by Situ Jun.
As he put on his clothes and stood up, the morning light outlined his cold and handsome silhouette, yet his eyes were full of tenderness:
"Daring to disturb my lady's peaceful dreams... this grudge is officially settled."
Jiang Yumei gave a charming laugh and stood up to grab the corner of his clothes:
"Alright, stop being glib. I need to go organize the Spiritual Plants. Aren't you going to help the Brocade Pavilion? Slip out quietly from the backyard so no one sees you."
After saying that, a blush appeared on her tender face.
Hearing this, Situ Jun nodded and chuckled, leaning down to kiss Jiang Yumei's burning cheek before putting on his outer robe and quietly leaving from the backyard.
The morning light pierced through the thin mist, spilling onto the blue tiles of the Spirit Herb Hall, gradually dispersing the lingering tenderness of last night. A new day, carrying the unknown and challenges, had already arrived.
Jiang Yumei quickly tidied her clothes and hurried to the front hall.
At this time, the Spirit Herb Hall was already bustling with people.
