579: Chapter 579 The Wedding Night
A moment later, she suddenly remembered that many of her sisters were watching from behind. Her cheeks instantly turned crimson, and she hurriedly straightened up, shooting him a mock-reproachful glare and saying with feigned anger:
“Stop worrying about me; go and help the sisters remove their Phoenix Crowns first.”
Situ Jun nodded with a smile and said no more. He walked to each woman in turn—Shen Xingwan, Jiang Yan, Xia Wei, and the others—his movements gentle yet solemn as he removed the pearl-and-jade-encrusted Phoenix Crowns from their heads one by one.
Each time he took off a crown, he would lower his head slightly, lean close to her ear, and whisper softly. It was either a gentle “You’ve worked hard” or a sincere compliment like “You look extremely beautiful today.” His voice was low and soft, a unique tenderness that only the one he was addressing could hear clearly.
Treated with such gentleness, the women’s cheeks flushed deep red, their eyes shimmering. Shyness and joy intertwined in their hearts, filling the room with a thick, inseparable sweetness.
When the last Phoenix Crown was safely set down, Situ Jun slowly took a step back, his gaze tenderly sweeping across each of their faces.
The flickering candlelight fell between his brows, stripping away the solemnity of the daytime wedding and leaving only a heart and eyes full of tender affection, along with a faint, imperceptible trace of guilt.
“I have wronged you all. For this late wedding, I have ultimately made you wait too long.”
His voice was low and raspy, every word filled with guilt toward the women and a deep-seated love.
Su Yunniang, who was closest to him, gently reached out and clasped his hand tightly. Her expression was gentle and her tone firm:
“To be able to marry my husband is the greatest happiness of my life. I have never felt wronged in the slightest.”
Li Danying's eyes reddened slightly as she softly echoed:
“It is not late. As long as it is given by my husband, no matter when it is, it is not late.”
The other women also nodded one after another, their eyes filled with deep affection and certainty. There was not a hint of complaint; their hearts were filled only with the joy of their wishes finally being fulfilled.
The red candles burned quietly, their light and shadows telling of deep affection on the walls. There was no sense of parting or sorrow here, only the tangible warmth of the moment and a happiness that sweetened their very souls.
Then, the women looked at each other and smiled. They slowly shed their complex and heavy wedding robes, wearing only light and soft Inner Garments. Their jet-black hair cascaded down their shoulders like waterfalls, reaching down to their waists.
Under the candlelight, each face was beautiful and every posture graceful. Each had her own charm, a beauty so striking it made the heart tremble and the eyes grow dizzy with fascination.
Situ Jun sat down slowly by the edge of the bed, his gaze tenderly grazing every face: Su Yunniang’s gentle dignity, Princess's bright loveliness, Shen Xingwan’s delicate beauty, Jiang Yan’s noble prettiness, Xia Wei’s tranquil peace, Embroiderer’s voluptuous charm, Liu Xuaner’s enchanting allure, and Su Wan’s jade-like warmth...
Every single woman was a precious treasure he had fought with all his might to protect and cherished deep within his heart.
“Over these years, I have made you all suffer alongside me. Thank you for always staying by my side.”
Situ Jun’s voice was slightly raspy, his heart filled with emotion.
Before he could finish, Liu Xuaner interrupted softly, her eyes full of affection:
“Hu—Husband, please do not say such distant things like ‘owing us’ or ‘thank you’ anymore. Over these years, you have kept us safe and pampered us to the bone, never letting us suffer the slightest grievance. The ones who should be content and grateful are us.”
“Exactly,”
Jiang Ya poked her head out from the side and spoke up prettily, feigning annoyance:
“If Husband says such distant things again, we shall truly be angry.”
The women all chimed in with their agreement. As the heartwarming words reached his ears, a warm current surged through Situ Jun’s heart, and his eyes grew slightly hot.
He took a deep breath and said in a heavy voice:
“To meet you all in this life is my, Situ Jun’s, greatest fortune. I do not know how much Karma I accumulated in my past life to be able to receive such devoted love from you in this one.”
Su Yunniang gently looked up, extending a finger to tenderly cover his lips. She shook her head slightly, her tone serious and firm:
“It was Husband who first gave us your heart and treated us with all your tenderness; that is why we are willing to follow you for a lifetime. In this world, there is no such thing as deep love without cause. You treat us with sincerity, and we repay you with all our hearts. It is as simple as that.”
Nianrui lifted her head slightly from the crook of his shoulder. With reddened eyes, she gave a soft huff, her voice carrying a hint of coquettishness:
“Exactly. If you were even slightly bad to us, I would have run away long ago. Would I still be waiting for you to marry me into the house with such fanfare today?”
Situ Jun was amused by her. He reached out and gently scraped her small nose, his tone full of doting affection:
“Oh? Could you even run away?”
Nianrui was momentarily speechless. She shot him a glare with her pretty eyes but ultimately did not argue back.
She knew in her heart that even if she truly turned and left, the man before her would surely cross thousands of mountains and rivers to find her and bring her back. And she herself, from beginning to end, could never bear to truly leave him.
Inside the Bridal Chamber, the red candles burned quietly. Candle tears slid down the wax one by one, slowly congealing on the candlestick like round red pearls of jade.
The light and shadows swayed gently, intertwining their figures. The room was filled with a warmth and sweetness so thick it could not be dispersed, lingering in every corner.
Su Yunniang pulled back slightly from his embrace. She reached up to gently tidy the hair at her temples, then turned to look at the sisters beside her, her voice soft yet clear:
“Sisters, tonight is Husband’s wedding night. But with so many of us here, we can’t all crowd around him, leaving him with no room to even move.”
Li Danying burst out laughing at those words. The hand that had been holding Situ Jun’s waist slowly let go, and she took half a step back. Tilting her head, she looked him up and down with a mischievous gaze, her eyes full of smiles and her tone carrying a hint of ambiguity:
“Sister Yun Niang is right. There are so many of us, but only one husband. Tonight, our groom might just be too busy to keep up.”
As soon as these blunt and suggestive words were spoken, the women’s cheeks instantly turned crimson. They lowered their gazes one after another, their eyes shimmering with shyness, making the atmosphere even more enchanting.
Cherry’s face turned bright red, and she gave a soft, embarrassed spit:
“Sister Danying, the way you speak now is becoming more and more unrestrained.”
Lan Yanliu, however, had always been lively and wasn't afraid of embarrassment at all. She chimed in with a giggle:
“Sister Cherry, don't pretend to be shy. The way you were clutching Husband’s sleeve just now was very tight indeed. Who knows, in your heart, you might be looking forward to it more than anyone.”
Cherry was so embarrassed she became flustered. She reached out to pinch Lan Yanliu’s mouth, but Lan Yanliu nimbly ducked behind Situ Jun, poking half her head out to make a playful face at her.
Cherry was both shy and angry, but with Situ Jun blocking the way, it wasn't easy to chase her. She could only stomp her foot and turn her face away in a huff, ignoring her.
Situ Jun watched his sisters laughing and playing, his heart filled with warmth. He reached out to pull the embarrassed Cherry into his arms, gently embracing her. He lowered his head to plant a soft kiss on her smooth forehead, his voice so tender it could melt:
“Don’t be upset. Tonight, I will properly accompany you.”
At his kiss, Cherry’s whole body trembled slightly. Her previous embarrassment vanished instantly, her cheeks flushed, and she obediently buried her face in his chest. Her voice was as faint as a mosquito’s hum as she mumbled:
“Who... who wants you to accompany them...”
Despite her words, the hands clutching his waist unconsciously tightened. Her heart and eyes were filled with an undisguisable joy and shyness.
