111: Chapter 111 The Corpse King's Spy in Action

The matter of the Empire establishing diplomatic relations with the Old God Nurgle was finally made public; there was no point in hiding it any longer, as Nurgle's armies had already begun entering through customs, stationing themselves in the Hive City and even the sewers of the entire planet.

The Slaanesh embassy and several gathering places for Slaanesh Nun in the Underhive were all surrounded by the Security Forces, ostensibly to "protect their safety" during these special times.

The embassy's minister counselor requested to see Main Body several times, but was turned away by the attendants on the grounds that "the Emperor is feeling unwell and has suspended court today."

In the streets and alleys of the Hive City, the "Hive City Daily" and "Empire Affairs Early Know," usually only purchased by some old-school clones, had been reprinted three times today, yet they still sold out quickly.

The former Cheng Yu, now the media tycoon Cheng Yu, made a fortune from this. He had a favor owed to him in Warp, and to repay it, the other party transferred the distribution rights of the black-and-white photo showing Overachiever Cheng Yu signing a treaty with the Eldar Goddess Isha to him. Now, all media outlets wanting to reprint the news with accompanying images had to pay media tycoon Cheng Yu.

"Boss, I'd like to leave early today," said Talos, the marketing manager for media tycoon Cheng Yu.

"Why today? There's a lot to do today. Can't you take your time off tomorrow?" the tycoon Cheng Yu asked, puzzled.

"The streets are a bit chaotic today. I want to go buy a weapon for self-defense, and I won't be coming in for the next two days."

"What you say makes sense. Here, take these two weapon procurement permits. Stay safe."

Talos's excuse for leaving early was very smooth. Anyone with a discerning eye could see that the Slaanesh Nun were about to stir up trouble. It might not be anything major, but some unlucky souls would certainly get dragged into it.

Besides newspapers and mobile news, the hottest commodity on the streets right now was self-defense weapons.

Originally, a standard Common Era pistol only sold for 500 credits, including three magazines and a box of ammunition.

Now it sells for 3,000 credits, with ammunition and magazines charged separately, not to mention bulletproof vests and armor that provide a greater sense of security.

Talos was originally a spy for the Corpse Emperor Empire, belonging to the group that had infiltrated very early on.

But after Cassius was exposed, his line of communication was cut.

Talos didn't know if he had been exposed, but he still had to do what needed to be done.

He was effectively what is called a "universal spy"—meaning he gathered his own intelligence, acquired his own resources, and decided on his own mission contents. It sounded impressive, but in reality, he was just a kite with a broken string.

Talos didn't need to buy a gun; the weapons hidden in the basement of his residence could arm an entire company, so he intended to use these weapons to do something big.

...

That night, at 10:00 PM Imperial time, the bells of the State Church rang out.

"Warmly Celebrating the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between the Empire and Nurgle" and "Generational Peace, Common Prosperity" parade floats were passing through the busiest commercial street in the Mid-Hive.

Suddenly, gunfire erupted. Talos, wearing a full set of power armor, threw explosives into the center of the parade procession.

"Slaanesh is supreme!" After blowing up the parade float, Talos shouted slogans through a megaphone.

Some of his suicidal subordinates began to engage in a chaotic melee with the remaining Security Officer Cheng Yu, while some peripheral personnel began spray-painting blasphemous Slaanesh symbols in the streets and alleys. They even threw rumor tabloids into residents' homes, claiming things like Main Body used to be a male prostitute selling his body on Terra. Regardless of whether Main Body had ever been to Terra, you had to admit the content was explosive enough.

Because the center of the explosion was in the busiest commercial district of the Mid-Hive, the Hive City central control console could not use infrasonic weapons and had to follow emergency protocols, dispatching the garrison battle group from the outskirts of the Hive City to provide support.

The riffraff under Talos's command had already reached their limit by fighting the Security Forces to a standstill; they were completely powerless when facing these battle groups that had just returned from the expedition front lines.

They were unwilling to be tortured, and seeing that escape was hopeless, they committed suicide one after another. They used special bullets capable of dissolving the soul, intended to turn their own projections in Warp into dementia. It was truly ruthless.

The mastermind, Talos, unhurriedly took off his power armor, took a deep breath, and lay on the ground to surrender.

Death is not scary; death is a cool summer night, allowing one to sleep without worry.

He did not die because there were things more difficult to do than simply dying.

"Seize the ringleader!" The Cheng Yus Clones who arrived at the scene to handle the situation was the "Stare-Kill" Cheng Yu, who had previously performed great meritorious service on the battlefield and had already been enfeoffed as a Viscount. He had originally planned to take leave for his honeymoon tomorrow morning, but now it seemed that would have to be postponed.

...

"Extra! Extra! Slaanesh, in a fit of rage, launches terrorist activities!"

If you ask how traditional print media can continue to survive in the internet age, it's because they have extensive connections, fast speed, and are bold. Things that happened in the middle of the night yesterday, they dared to issue an extra edition with conclusions this morning. If you have the ability, go ahead and seal my newspaper office; if you don't seal it, I'll keep spouting nonsense.

However, the "Hive City Daily" did not follow up on this news today; word was that the newspaper's owner had a sudden stroke last night and was still in emergency care.

Many peers viciously cursed in private, saying it would be better if he died. He was so rich yet still competed with them for business, and he married such a beautiful wife. They just wondered who his wife would be with after he died.

...

Inside the Imperial Palace, Main Body naturally knew that last night's incident was a provocation by the Corpse Emperor Empire's spies, but as the saying goes, one should "take advantage of the situation to get off the donkey."

Main Body immediately summoned the minister counselor stationed by Slaanesh while on his sickbed, lodging a solemn protest and demanding a reasonable explanation and compensation plan within seven working days, otherwise the Empire would re-evaluate its cooperative relationship with the Slaanesh Court.

The Slaanesh minister counselor was also very firm, stating, "We didn't do this. If we had done it, we would naturally admit it. You, as a sovereign, are framing us; this is truly the behavior of a villain."

"If you want war, then let us fight. Why resort to such underhanded tricks?"

"Wahayaya, how insolent!" Main Body threw the jade ruyi by his bedside at the Slaanesh envoy. His aim was quite accurate, striking the envoy directly on the horn and chipping a corner off the jade ruyi.

Incidentally, this jade ruyi was what Cheng Yu normally used to scratch his itches.
