124: Chapter 124 Cement Plant Manager
Main Body had actually been keeping an eye on this diplomatic delegation through shared consciousness. After all, he would have to go there in person in the future, and likely quite often, to strengthen cooperation.
The diplomatic mission was almost entirely wiped out, with the only one left standing being an ordinary clone. Main Body immediately pulled up this person's entire file.
This clone had some seniority. He had already achieved military distinction as a Chapter staff officer during the campaign to attack the Aeldari Craftworld. He was originally supposed to be ennobled and promoted, but he had secretly kept an Aeldari girl prisoner. This girl was a noble, and according to the policy at the time, she was supposed to be offered to Slaanesh.
This matter could be treated as major or minor. If major, it could be deemed a violation of military law resulting in summary execution; if minor, it was just an issue of personal conduct. Considering his past merits, the Personnel Bureau of the Department of Military Affairs ultimately decided to strip him of his achievements, discharge him from the military, and reassign him to a Hive City.
Originally, he was assigned to be a garrison commander for the Hive City Security Force. Although not an official military officer, it sounded very prestigious. However, while putting down an outsider riot, this gentleman executed prisoners without military authorization. As a result, he was stripped of all rank again and now served as the Director of the "Yucai" Hive City Cement Factory, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Hive City "Human-Aeldari Friendly Mutual Aid Committee."
If things continued this way, Cement Factory Director Cheng Yu would soon be kicked out of the civil service entirely. Seeing this official who only climbed down the career ladder, Main Body could barely hold back his laughter.
...
"I, Cheng Yu, Director of the Cement Factory and foreign minister, currently serving as the deputy envoy of the delegation, request the great Lord of Pleasure to accept our credentials and release the trapped members of our mission."
As the sole surviving member of the delegation, Director Cheng Yu entered Slaanesh's palace alone, the location of the actual bedchamber.
He also knew it was impolite to enter someone's private chamber directly, but he had been standing in the Sixth Circle for a long time. Surrounded by sleeping clones, and with no Greater or Lesser Daemons coming to receive him or announce his arrival, waiting forever wasn't an option either. So, impolite or not, he went in.
Inside the bedchamber, an indescribable pinkish-purple glow enveloped everything, and the air was sickeningly sweet.
Twisted marble pillars were wrapped in living tentacles, and the floor was a constantly writhing carpet of pale flesh.
These were actually just Director Cheng Yu's cognitive filters. Because he believed Slaanesh's bedchamber should look like this, this was the scene he saw, thanks to his Aeldari wife's tales of Slaanesh's depravity.
If Main Body had come here himself, he would probably have seen a paradise on earth.
A thousand voices echoed simultaneously in the Cement Factory Director's mind—men's voices, women's voices, children's voices, AI voices... This immense mental pressure caused Director Cheng Yu's eyes and ears to instantly begin bleeding.
Main Body immediately mobilized the souls of trillions of clones to bolster his strength, allowing him to raise his head and prevent him from being crushed by Slaanesh's powerful Warp energy.
"This foreign minister... requests... the great Lord of Pleasure to accept... our credentials, and release the envoys!"
Good job, Cement Factory Director Cheng Yu! Very spirited, you didn't lose face for us!
Main Body immediately boosted his strength again. Within this short span of time, Cement Factory Director Cheng Yu's soul strength had basically become equal to the Emperor's, allowing him to look directly at Slaanesh, remaining unbroken even in the presence of a god.
Director Cheng Yu finally saw Slaanesh's form clearly...
He possessed six slender arms, each long and powerful, with fingertips as sharp as razors.
His skin was a sickly ivory white, as smooth as polished porcelain, yet revealing purple energy pulsing through His veins.
His face was breathtakingly exquisite, His features constantly shifting between a handsome male and a beautiful female, with a satisfied yet greedy smile always playing on the corners of His lips.
Below His waist, countless tentacles writhed, wrapped in precious silk, looking both luxurious and bizarre.
Of course, this was only Slaanesh as Director Cheng Yu imagined Him. The Chaos Gods of the Warp have no true physical form; they appear however living beings perceive them to be.
"Bring it." With a wave of Slaanesh's hand, six six-winged angels flew out from behind His throne. Each "angel" had six arms and six eyes, though fortunately only two legs. These angels took the credentials from Director Cheng Yu's hands and then dispersed like forest elves.
This should have been a very bizarre and horrifying appearance, but in the eyes of Director Cheng Yu at this moment, it looked so harmonious, so pleasing, as if angels were supposed to look like this, and he himself was the flawed and regrettable creature.
Main Body continued to bolster his strength, otherwise Director Cheng Yu would likely have slit his own throat on the spot out of disgust for his own "imperfection."
Slaanesh did not use such petty tricks to kill, but merely being near Him would cause mortals to harbor thoughts of immediate suicide due to their own imperfections.
Yet, Director Cheng Yu still could not hold out. His hands slowly and involuntarily crept toward his own neck; he wanted to strangle himself to death.
Main Body had no choice. He didn't care about losing a single clone, but the Empire's strength could not be looked down upon by a Chaos God.
He immediately took control of Director Cheng Yu's body.
"I am here. Let's negotiate terms."
"Oh?" This time, Slaanesh's form did not look so bizarre anymore. He appeared as an ordinary Aeldari woman, except for being extremely tall with unusually pointed ears, nothing special. "Mon-keigh, so you are a gestalt consciousness?"
"Gestalt my... gestalt my ass, pointy-ears. Our previous cooperation has been maintained quite well. I hope to keep it that way. Do you have any thoughts on this?"
Slaanesh looked at Main Body with interest, remaining noncommittal. It seemed He still didn't think much of Cheng Yu. There was no helping this; the Aeldari had always looked down on humans, viewing them as nothing more than stably mutated hairless monkeys, unlike the Aeldari, who were the creations of the Old Ones.
You look down on me? Well, I look down on you too.
If one were to ask which Chaos God Cheng Yu admired most, it would have to be Tzeentch. If not for Tzeentch's endless schemes and unpredictable motives, Cheng Yu would definitely have sought cooperation with Him first.
After all, there was a theory that Tzeentch was the supreme god of the Warp, but He was so powerful that it caused everything to stagnate into a lifeless pool with absolutely no change. Since this did not align with Tzeentch's values, He weakened Himself on purpose just to play along with the other Four Gods.
Next, Cheng Yu admired the Corpse Emperor the most. Although it was impolite to keep calling him that, the Corpse Emperor, as a mortal, had climbed all the way to the apex of this purgatory of a galaxy. Despite his various brain-dead decisions, his strength and resolve more than made up for them. Without the Corpse Emperor, humanity would have been finished long ago.
