19: Chapter 19 Mission: Conquer the Impossible, Battle Spirit Boils

Robert and his companions tried their best to explain the dangers of what Loren was doing, but in the end, they failed to persuade him as they had envisioned.

Instead, a few words from Loren left them shaken, feeling as if their entire world had been overturned.

"Are the rules formed over millions of years necessarily correct?"

"What if it is the world that is wrong?"

Looking at the bewildered group, Loren couldn't be bothered to explain the concept of liberating productivity to them.

In most cases, when people encounter things they cannot understand, they do not choose to accept them; instead, they try their best to deny them in order to maintain the rationality of their own beliefs.

The weakness of human nature.

The servants nearby felt mixed emotions upon hearing this; some looked at Loren as if he were a madman, while others wondered if they should notify their families. If this noble lord were truly willing to distribute land for free, it would be a bargain not to be missed.

"Lord Loren, we trust that your wisdom will keep you on the right path, so we will say no more."

Shaken, Robert hurriedly changed the subject. Loren's ideas were far too unconventional, and his own values, formed over decades, found them difficult to accept.

"Do you wish to purchase all of these human slaves?"

Loren nodded.

"Send someone to inventory their abilities; I will take anyone with special talents."

After speaking, he glanced at the physically weak Orcs in the room and shook his head in disappointment.

"Do you have channels to purchase strong slaves? Bronze Rank would be best..."

Silver Rank slaves cost between 150,000 and 200,000 currency each; even if he spent all the money he had, he could only buy a hundred or so.

In contrast, Bronze Rank slaves were much cheaper at 50,000 currency each; buying two or three hundred of them wouldn't hurt his wallet.

Moreover, as long as he had some time to develop, he could raise these soldiers to Silver Rank or Gold Rank.

"Strong slaves?"

Robert pondered for a moment, then his eyes lit up.

"Lord Loren, the City Lord's Gold Knights went to suppress a magic dragon half a month ago and captured a large group of Mountain Barbarian..."

"I have heard that the Mountain Barbarian are extremely powerful in combat. At the same level, only humans who have awakened their Bloodline Power can fight them. They perfectly meet your requirements..."

Then, he hesitated slightly.

"However, those Barbarian are unruly and stubborn as stone, making them difficult to subdue.

I heard that after being captured by the City Lord's Gold Knights, hundreds of Barbarian have already been killed or injured due to their resistance..."

Loren's eyes lit up.

The Barbarian are a race that lives in cold, mountainous regions. They are burly and strong, capable of fighting tigers and leopards bare-chested in the ice and snow; they are savage and wild.

They view death as their final destination, love to fight, worship the strong, and possess formidable combat power.

They are natural-born warriors.

They fit his requirements perfectly.

"Let's go, take me to see them."

Seeing Loren's enthusiastic expression, Robert nodded with a smile and immediately turned to lead the way.

Fiana, who had been silent all along, followed behind Loren with sharp eyes, constantly scanning her surroundings to guard against any danger.

However, given their attire, no one dared to get too close to their group.

Ten minutes later, after passing through the crowded streets, Robert stopped in the central area.

The standalone five-story stone building in front of them was the largest chamber of commerce in the slave market—the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce.

It is said that the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce was named by the first City Lord of Decker City after his mount—a black griffin.

Relying on Decker City as its backing, the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce had long since become the largest chamber of commerce in the North.

Its trade ranges from slaves to silk and cloth, from grain to salt and steel; the influence of the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce exists in almost every industry.

At the entrance of the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce, Loren saw many young nobles dressed in noble robes like himself, gathered in small groups and chatting.

Among the reception staff at the entrance, a fat manager immediately greeted the distinguished-looking Loren with enthusiasm.

Seeing the noble crest on his chest out of the corner of his eye, he paused slightly. Why did that noble crest look so familiar??

"Respected noble Lord, welcome to the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce. May I ask what you require so we can immediately arrange for someone to prepare it for you?"

Robert, standing to the side, was incredibly envious. In the past, when he came to the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce, let alone being received so respectfully, it would have been a big deal if the guards even gave him a proper look.

Comparing the two, for the first time, Robert felt the comfort of having a powerful backer.

He subconsciously straightened his chest, a look of pride on his face...

Loren, however, was already used to this and didn't react at all.

"I heard that the City Lord's Gold Knights captured a batch of Mountain Barbarian, and it just so happens that my territory needs a batch of slaves."

Hearing this, the fat, middle-aged manager in a tailcoat paused slightly, his expression turning somewhat strange.

"My Lord, those Barbarian are still being held... If you wish, I will take you to see them immediately."

What Loren didn't know was that dozens of nobles before him had already wanted to purchase the Barbarian...

The reason the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce hadn't sold those Barbarian was that they were simply too stubborn and impossible to tame; they were as foul and hard as stones.

Furthermore, they showed no fear of death; nearly two-thirds of the captured Barbarian had been killed, yet they still wouldn't submit.

Interestingly, however, the stubbornness and fearlessness of the Barbarian had attracted many nobles who wanted to tame these savages.

But the results were shocking; every noble who came returned in defeat, without exception.

This directly boosted the prestige of the Barbarian, and even the younger generation of nobles were competing in secret, wanting to tame the Barbarian that others could not, in order to demonstrate their own strength.

Today, there was a competition among the younger generation of nobles, and the fat manager subconsciously assumed that Loren was one of them.

Although he still wore a smile on his face, he looked down on Loren a bit in his heart—just another noble scion who didn't know the immensity of heaven and earth.

Those were Barbarian—powerful, fierce, and formidable warriors who feared no death!

Even the City Lord's Gold Knights couldn't make them submit; what made you think you could?

Loren knew nothing of these messy affairs; his sources of information were pitifully scarce, and Arnold was merely a low-level Thief—how would he know so much about noble affairs?

The group followed the fat manager into the Black Feather Chamber of Commerce.

After winding through several corridors, Loren and his group were brought to a spacious open-air area.

There were not many guests here, only a few staff members in uniform moving about.

In this area, there were over a hundred iron cages, all made of iron chains as thick as a wrist—only a dragon could likely break free with brute force.

The number of iron cages holding slaves was not large, and most contained savage races.

At this moment, in front of the iron cages in the central area, dozens of gorgeously dressed young nobles were looking at the slaves inside with great excitement.

"Are these the Barbarian captured from Lone Mountain?"

"What strong bodies!! I'm afraid even the City Lord's Gold Knights aren't this strong!"

"Look, that Barbarian Chief is at least over two meters tall; he's practically a bull!!"

"I heard that even that guy, Akton, is planning to make a move today??"

"Akton is a Gold Rank warrior, tsk tsk tsk. I wonder if he can tame these stubborn guys today..."

Under the guidance of the fat manager, Loren came to the iron cages just like the other nobles. Hearing the discussions around him, he became somewhat interested and cast his gaze inside.

The group of Barbarian sitting on the ground in silence caught his eye.

Strong, extremely strong; this was his most intuitive impression of the Barbarian.

These Barbarian wore clothes sewn from animal skins, and their clearly defined muscles made the clothing bulge high.

The muscles exposed to the air were filled with an explosive sense of power, and various large and small scars were clearly visible on them.

Their sharp eyes were like wolves on the hunt, ready to tear their enemies into pieces at any moment.

Moreover, based on two Barbarian leaning against the iron cage, he estimated that the height of this group was generally over 1.9 meters.

Even the strongest ones were over two meters tall.

Loren, with some curiosity, used the Eye of Truth to inspect them.

Barbarian

Level: Bronze Rank

Bloodline: Mountain Barbarian Bloodline (Not Awakened)

Loyalty: -50 (Extremely hostile; if possible, he would tear you to shreds without hesitation)

Bond: Power Surge, automatically activated when the number of Barbarian reaches 100, strength increased by 10%, morale never breaks.

Evaluation: Natural-born warriors, worship the strong.

Loren's eyes lit up.

The Barbarian's attributes were a bit special; not only was the evaluation "natural-born warriors," but they also had a special attribute—Bond.

Once the number exceeds 100, they gain two traits.

They were simply perfect to be an army.

However, this -50 loyalty was not so easy to eliminate.

Just as Loren was hesitating, the system's notification sound suddenly rang out.

"Ding~ Mission triggered: Conquering the Impossible.

Defeat the leader of the Mountain Barbarian—a Gold Rank warrior, Yas Frost (Bloodline Power not awakened)—with your own strength.

Mission Reward: Gain the allegiance of the Barbarian."

Loren's eyes lit up. Another mission triggered?

But after seeing the mission content clearly, he raised an eyebrow.

Defeating a Gold Rank, interesting...

This extraordinarily difficult mission made him gradually excited.

Fight, fight!!

His blood began to circulate, and the battle intent within the Demon Grand Duke Bloodline was stirring.

After awakening dual bloodlines, his combat power had received an extremely exaggerated boost, but exactly how much it had increased had always been impossible to accurately assess.

At this moment, that whetstone had finally appeared.

The Gold Rank Barbarian... was qualified to be his opponent.

A wild arc appeared on the corner of Loren's mouth as he looked at the fat manager beside him.

"How many of these Barbarian are there in total?"

"My Lord, there are 120 left now..."

"I want them all."

Want them all?

The middle-aged man should have been happy, but his expression was strange at this moment. "If you purchase them all, it will cost 15 million currency."

Robert, standing nearby, widened his eyes. "15 million? Aren't Bronze Rank slaves 50,000 each?"

"That is for ordinary slaves. The Barbarian have strong bodies, and their combat power is far higher than ordinary people. They are 100,000 currency each. Plus, their chief is Gold Rank..."

Loren waved his hand, interrupting Robert, who wanted to continue bargaining. "I want them all."

The fat manager smiled bitterly. "My Lord, those Barbarian are extremely stubborn and simply refuse to submit.

Several noble lords who purchased Barbarian previously encountered rebellions; these guys would immediately attack outsiders the moment they walked out of the iron cages.

There were originally nearly 400 of these Barbarian, and now only 120 remain; the others were all killed while resisting..."

Not only was Loren not intimidated, but the battle intent in his eyes grew even stronger.

Demons crave battle, crave... slaughter.

The few young nobles nearby couldn't help but find Loren's words somewhat amusing.

A blonde noble, about twenty years old, who was surrounded in the center, looked at Loren with a scrutinizing gaze.

"You must have just arrived in Decker City, right?

These Barbarian are very stubborn; only by completely conquering them with force is it possible to make them submit.

If the problem could be solved with money, we wouldn't have been gathered here for so long..."

After speaking, he looked Loren up and down and shook his head.

"You are only Silver Rank, so don't even think about it."

"Outsider noble, the Barbarian are not something you can touch. Give up..."

If Loren were an ignorant adventurer, they wouldn't even pay attention to him, at most watching him go to his death like a joke.

But the noble robes he wore still gave these young nobles a slight sense of identification; at least they were the same kind of people.

Loren's mouth curled slightly.

"Conquering the Barbarian... is it difficult?"

The calm yet domineering words caused the air to suddenly go silent, and everyone turned their heads in unison.

In an instant, Loren immediately became the focus of the crowd.

However, most people scoffed at these words.

The curly-haired noble next to the blonde noble was even more disdainful.

"Heh, this is the most boring joke I've heard today."

"A greenhorn whose strength has only reached Silver Rank, and you dare to say this?"

"Even Gold Rank powerhouses wouldn't dare to be this arrogant; what makes you think you can?"

The curly-haired noble's continuous disdainful remarks completely stirred up the crowd.

Everyone present expressed disdain for Loren. A Silver Rank wants to conquer Barbarian that even the Gold Knights failed to conquer? What kind of ridiculous joke is that!

After the crowd finished criticizing Loren, the curly-haired noble looked at the blonde noble and said with a grin.

"By the Goddess, I bet that if this guy can conquer the Barbarian, I can eat my own socks!

Hahahaha, believing that this outsider can conquer the Barbarian is less likely than believing I can conquer a dragon!!"
