6: Chapter 6 The Power of Bloodlines

"My lord, you've asked the wrong person. I'm just a small-time Thief from the Thieves' Guild, and I'm not familiar with such matters. I still need to return to the Orphanage to deliver bread to the children..."

The corner of Loren's mouth twitched. A Thief going to deliver bread to an Orphanage?

To think he could come up with such a lousy excuse...

He couldn't be bothered to waste words.

"I'll ask you one more time: are there any chambers of commerce in Decker City that aren't protected by nobles but possess significant assets?"

The moment his words fell, the aura of a Silver Rank beginner erupted from Loren's body, and a brilliant silver-white light burst forth from him, immediately causing the surrounding passersby to gasp in exclamation.

"Bloodline Power?? An Awakened?!!"

"Being able to emit pale white energy from the body, it's definitely a Silver Rank Awakened."

"It is said that at the same level, someone who has awakened their Bloodline Power can withstand the siege of seven or eight people who haven't awakened..."

"That goes without saying. Awakening Bloodline Power is extremely difficult; those who can awaken in Decker City are pitifully few. Once one has awakened their Bloodline Power, they will be respected by any faction."

"The higher the bloodline potential, the stronger the awakened Bloodline Power. I wonder if this noble lord awakened a C-rank or a D-rank..."

"How could it be D-rank? With such a surging state of aura, it must be at least C-rank, maybe even B-rank is possible..."

"Hiss... B-rank Bloodline Power? That's too terrifying!!"

Amidst the rising and falling exclamations of the crowd, the skinny Thief was already consumed by fear.

This noble lord had awakened his Bloodline Power at only seventeen or eighteen years old, and it was very likely a B-rank bloodline... Clearly, his background was terrifyingly powerful.

To think such a big shot had set his sights on him? He felt like he had the worst luck in eight lifetimes.

"My lord, I remember now, I remember!"

His voice was hurried, "It's in the Twelfth District. Most of the chambers of commerce in the Twelfth District have no background. It's an area where commoners live, and the Jasmine Chamber of Commerce there is the largest. Perhaps, perhaps you will find what you are looking for there..."

Hearing this, Loren slowly retracted the pale silver Bloodline Power from his body.

"Are you familiar with the chambers of commerce there? Don't waste my time!"

Startled by Loren's cold voice, the skinny Thief could only nod with a wry smile.

"I'm familiar with it. I often work there..."

Work? What else could a Thief's work be?

"That's good. Lead the way."

These two simple words caused the Thief's expression to change repeatedly, until finally, he had a miserable face, feeling like he wanted to die.

But just at this moment, a palm-sized, emerald-green sprite banknote appeared before his eyes.

The young Thief's expression instantly cleared up. He excitedly took the sprite banknote with a face value of 1000 currency, and the earlier reluctance was immediately thrown to the back of his mind.

"Thank you for your generosity, respected lord. The Twelfth District is not far away; it only takes twenty minutes to get there. Please follow me, I'll go call a carriage immediately..."

"Not in a rush to deliver bread anymore?" Loren looked at him with a half-smile.

The skinny Thief awkwardly rubbed his nose, "No rush, they still have food. This is for tomorrow..."

While speaking, he hurriedly went to the roadside to hail a carriage.

"Respected lord, please..."

Loren looked at the other's fawning expression without much reaction.

He had no interest in putting on noble airs for a Thief. His style of doing things had always been to solve problems in the simplest way possible.

The cold-tempered Fiana watched him silently from behind, saying nothing. However, after he handed the 1000 currency to the Thief, her eyes suddenly turned a few degrees colder.

She knew that this was the last 1000 currency Loren had... And yet he was still putting on noble airs?!

She didn't know what Loren wanted to do on this trip. She only knew that this guy, who had just refused to use her savings, would likely not even be able to afford the hotel bill when they returned.

Watching Loren prepare to board the carriage, Fiana was very angry. Seeing the skinny Thief sit with the coachman, she said coldly.

"Why find a Thief to lead the way?"

Loren turned his head to look at this cold guardian and smiled.

"Thieves don't necessarily live by stealing, but low-level Thieves have definitely committed theft."

For a Bronze Rank Thief, if they want to survive, the first thing they must understand is who can be offended and who cannot.

For the sake of their own lives, these Thieves will definitely find out the situation of nearby chambers of commerce—which are their prey.

And I happen to need to find those chambers of commerce without backgrounds. Choosing him was not a whim..."

A flash of surprise passed through Fiana's eyes. She sized up the heroic-looking young man, as if seeing him for the first time.

Loren didn't waste any more words and stepped directly into the carriage.

Seeing this, Fiana also came to her senses. After giving him a deep look, she followed silently and sat in the corner of the carriage, far away from Loren.

Loren ignored the strange atmosphere inside the carriage. He spoke indifferently to the Thief, who was sitting in front of the carriage with a look of joy on his face, separated by a layer of glass.

"Tell me about the information on the five largest chambers of commerce in the Twelfth District."

Hearing this, the skinny Thief smiled.

"Noble lord, the largest chamber of commerce in the Twelfth District is the Jasmine Chamber of Commerce. The president is from Decker City, a tough guy who rose from the slums.

They mainly deal in slaves and magical beast furs. The president is a Gold Rank beginner warrior who has not yet awakened Bloodline Power. He has over a hundred Bronze Rank warriors and more than twenty Silver Rank warriors under his command...

The second-ranked one is the Cuckoo Chamber of Commerce. The president is from the Falcon Royal Capital and is a fallen noble who lost his title...

The third-ranked one is..."

Clutching that 1000 currency sprite banknote, the young, skinny Thief was exceptionally cooperative with Loren's questioning.

Not only did he answer in great detail, but he also outlined all the important information such as the scale, strength, background, and assets of the chambers of commerce in the Twelfth District.

The completeness of the intelligence made Loren look at him a few more times. He even had the thought of hiring the other person for a few more days; a well-informed person could save him a lot of time.

As the Thief continued to talk, Loren got a rough concept of his next target—the Twelfth District.

The Twelfth District is an area between the noble district and the slums. Most of the people living here are commoners without any background. They are harassed by nobles, while at the same time, they are able to oppress the slums.

Most of the chambers of commerce operating in the Twelfth District have no background, and their main business is the leftovers from the noble lords; their influence is neither high nor low.

Loren was extremely serious about gathering information, even asking the coachman next to him for quite a bit of information.

But this behavior of his made Fiana increasingly believe that he was really going to extort those chambers of commerce.

Otherwise, why only choose to learn about those chambers of commerce without backgrounds?

But she had already promised not to interfere with Loren's affairs, so she could only watch coldly from the sidelines.

She was a guardian, not a babysitter. If Loren didn't strive for success, there was nothing anyone could do.

On the not-so-smooth bluestone road, there was a crunch, crunch sound—the sound of Gravel being crushed by the carriage wheels. About twenty minutes later, the carriage slowly drove into a street with slightly dim lighting and stopped.

"My lord, we have arrived at the Twelfth District."
