5: Chapter 5 A Brand New World

(The previous chapter has been modified)

Thump, thump, thump... Loren descended from the third floor to the first via the narrow but exceptionally bright staircase.

His eyes lit up as he reached the first-floor lobby.

A scene rich with medieval charm and a magical atmosphere greeted him, making him feel as if he were in a dream.

The lobby wasn't very large, with about a dozen round wooden tables neatly arranged in three rows.

It was currently packed, and the clamor echoed through the inn.

Most of the people eating and drinking were Adventurers dressed in leather armor with daggers tucked into their waists.

Some of the burly, heavy-drinking warriors were even stained with large patches of unwashed, dark blood, looking bloody and violent.

Most eye-catching were the several scarred warriors sitting in the very center of the hall; judging by their aura, they were all at the Silver Rank.

One of them carried a greatsword as wide as three palms and nearly as tall as a person.

Two Orc girls in servant outfits, with fluffy tails and cat ears, shuttled back and forth carrying food and Rum, occasionally flashing charming smiles at the burly men at the tables.

At the counter stocked with various fine wines, the owner—dressed in luxurious robes with a somewhat mean look on his face—was whispering with two Thieves in light leather armor.

He slapped the table in excitement, and eventually, they seemed to reach an agreement. After taking an item from the Thieves, he produced a stack of money and watched with a cunning smirk as the two reluctant Thieves departed.

Outside the main door, a Spellcaster lord carrying a Magic Staff and wearing priest robes frowned at the noisy scene inside. After a look of disdain, he turned and left despite the mean owner's attempts to make him stay.

Loren stood still for a long time before coming to his senses. He took a deep breath, and the scents of alcohol and food, mixed even with the smell of blood, assailed his nose.

His expression became somewhat subtle; this was a world possessing extraordinary power, full of danger and excitement.

A... brand new world!

His restless heart stirred at this moment.

Perhaps he could live a more magnificent life in this extraordinary world than he had on Earth.

Just then, the originally boisterous environment gradually fell silent.

Many felt it was strange, but their expressions changed slightly when they saw Loren standing at the foot of the stairs.

A noble??

Why would those arrogant noble lords come to such a run-down place?

Once those commoners saw Fiana, the room fell into complete silence, and no one dared to speak another word.

It wasn't that they were stunned by Fiana's beauty, but rather that her aura made them feel suffocated.

The first rule of survival on the Nuoer Main Plane: one must maintain sufficient respect toward the strong.

Loren naturally noticed this. Withdrawing his gaze, he didn't linger and calmly walked away amidst the vigilance, caution, unease, and faint fear in the room.

Every status had its own rules of conduct; a noble lord speaking to lowly Adventurers would only seem out of place.

Only a few female Adventurers' eyes lit up—what a handsome noble lord...

After stepping out of the inn, Loren's field of vision immediately opened up.

Although it was dark and dark clouds covered the two moons, Decker City was far from falling into darkness; the shops on both sides of the street were brightly lit and open for business.

The street was paved with bluestone, and while it wasn't exactly clean and tidy, it had the appearance of a large city.

Lighting candles made of Magic Beast Grease, protected by glass covers, emitted a bright light. The angel sculptures under the streetlights cast long shadows in the firelight.

The buildings on both sides of the street were ten-meter-high houses with pointed roofs. The semi-circular windows were painted with colorful religious patterns, giving off a strong medieval Western European vibe.

Since night had fallen, there weren't many pedestrians on the street. Most of them were Professionals in leather armor carrying weapons; the number of ordinary residents was small.

Looking at this street filled with exotic flair, Loren's mood somehow improved.

He turned to look at Fiana beside him, wanting to say something, but he couldn't help but shake his head when he saw the girl's frost-cold expression.

Back in university, he had also met a cold senior who, because of her outstanding looks, was dubbed the "Ice School Beauty" by busybodies. In his youth, he had been quite in awe of such girls.

But later, when that cold senior lay in his arms pouting and acting spoiled, even wearing silk stockings and telling him to hurry up, he never saw "cold and aloof" the same way again...

He couldn't help but smile bitterly at the thought. Unfortunately, he probably wouldn't be able to go back in this lifetime...

Suppressing his complex emotions, he looked toward the street, scanning the passing pedestrians.

To hide his Demon Grand Duke Bloodline, he had come to Decker City alone, with only Fiana by his side.

It could be said that he was like a blind man in this city; he was uninformed about everything and didn't know a single person.

After looking for a long while, he hadn't found a suitable candidate to ask for information, which was a bit awkward.

Moreover, the surrounding crowds avoided him when they saw him wearing a noble lord's robe, for fear of offending him.

In this world ruled by nobles, commoners and nobles were never the same kind of life. If one offended a noble, no one would care if they were whipped to death.

Loren felt somewhat helpless seeing this scene.

"If only I had a few subordinates to gather information, why would I be standing here like a fool on the street?

If all else fails, I'll go to a tavern. Taverns in the city seem to sell intelligence, or should I go back to that inn and find a few people to ask?"

Just as Loren was about to change his approach, a thin, small figure carrying a large bag of Black Bread and walking hurriedly caught his eye. He stepped forward and stopped the Thief, whose aura had just reached the Bronze Rank.

"Adventurer, which chambers of commerce in Decker City are not under the protection of nobles?"

The Thief was startled by Loren's sudden intervention. His body bent sharply, and his hand instinctively went to the dagger at his waist, as if ready to fight for his life.

But when he saw the noble robe Loren was wearing and the Noble Crest embroidered on his chest, his expression changed instantly. And when he saw Fiana behind him, clad in black armor with looks that were almost off the charts, his face turned dark.

Why are these damn nobles stopping me for no reason?
