46: Chapter 46 The Sudden Appearance of an Unknown Danger

Just as Loren was enthusiastically researching how to upgrade the arrow tower, the Construction Department finished their survey and discussion, and the plan for repairing the arrow tower was quickly produced.

"My Lord, this arrow tower is a standard three-story arrow tower. The second and third floors are attack levels. At full capacity, each floor can provide 15 attack positions, accommodating a total of 30 people on both floors."

"The advantages of this type of arrow tower are its low construction cost and ease of building."

"The disadvantages are that the attack direction is singular, it accommodates fewer people, and its defensive capabilities are relatively weak, making it unable to withstand bombardment from siege weapons."

"Given the extent of the damage to this arrow tower, if you can dispatch 50 people, we are confident we can complete the repairs within 7 days."

"Rebuilding the other completely destroyed arrow tower will take 15 days..."

Loren looked at the middle-aged man reporting to him and nodded slowly.

"Rebuild this arrow tower first; we'll talk about the other one later." He needed to get the blueprint for the elemental tower first; there weren't enough resources to invest in the other arrow tower right now.

"The Construction Department currently has thirty people; I will assign another 20 to you. In 7 days, I want to see a brand-new arrow tower."

Having received the promise, the middle-aged man and his companions immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yes, My Lord, we will do our utmost to fulfill your will."

Loren nodded with satisfaction. He was really looking forward to seeing the effects of the arrow tower's upgrade.

After arranging the construction task for the arrow tower, the number of available residents left was less than 120. Excluding the elderly and weak who had no labor force, the usable labor force was likely less than 100 people.

Looking at the arrow tower, Loren shifted his gaze to the city wall... If the arrow tower could be upgraded with Soul Power, could the city wall be upgraded the same way?

With a thought, the system's prompt immediately rang out.

"Ding~ Do you wish to consume 10,000 Soul Power to upgrade the wooden city wall to an earthen city wall?"

"Ding~ Insufficient Soul Power, unable to upgrade."

"Ding~ The earthen city wall has not been built yet, upgrade failed."

Loren looked at the system prompt, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Upgrading the city wall required 10,000 Soul Power? That was 10 times higher than the arrow tower.

However, like the arrow tower, the city wall needed to be built before it could be upgraded.

So was there any point in this upgrade?

Or was it that... the system consuming Soul Power to upgrade levels was an enchantment-like action for the city wall, giving it characteristics similar to territory attributes?

After thinking for a moment, Loren shook his head. There was too little information; he couldn't make an effective judgment and would have to wait until the arrow tower was rebuilt and upgraded to see the effects.

By the time everything was finished, the sky had already dimmed.

Just at this moment, a noisy sound suddenly came from outside the city wall—the army that went out to explore the map around the territory had returned.

After the soldiers guarding the wall confirmed there was no danger, they immediately notified the soldiers below to open the city gate.

The wooden city gate was opened, and the tall figure of Barbarian Chieftain Yas was the first to appear in Loren's line of sight.

The burly Barbarian was like an iron tower, and even the ground trembled slightly as he walked.

This was a true warrior, powerful and fierce.

Wearing a black cloak and looking incredibly flashy, the Kobold Bloodline Mage Sim followed closely behind.

This Spellcaster held his head high, his eyes showing disdain for everything around him.

Behind them were two squads of Kobolds and two squads of Barbarians, 10 people per squad, totaling 40 people.

The armored Barbarians were two heads taller than the Kobolds beside them, and the contrast between the two sides was extremely obvious.

What was even more eye-catching was that a portion of the army was actually carrying more than ten snow-white wild deer with horns on their heads.

These wild deer radiated faint magic fluctuations, clearly not ordinary beasts.

"Good day, Lord Loren!"

Seeing Loren, Barbarian Chieftain Yas came before him quite excitedly to salute.

He spoke in a muffled voice.

"Today we explored the three-kilometer area around the territory and discovered more than ten Sharp-Horned White Deer gathered downstream of the lake..."

The Kobold Bloodline Mage Sim followed up on Barbarian Chieftain Yas's words, saying triumphantly.

"Lord Loren, Sharp-Horned White Deer can control wind elements and are extremely fast. If I hadn't used my magic to block their perception, today's hunt would never have been successful..."

Barbarian Chieftain Yas glared at the flashy-looking Sim, who was wearing a black cloak.

This damned Kobold only knew how to steal credit in front of the Lord.

Loren nodded slowly.

"Besides magical beasts, were there any other gains? Is there any danger around the territory?"

The Endless Wasteland was not a safe place. In this area with many mineral deposits, it wouldn't be surprising to encounter a greedy dragon in some cave.

Especially the existence of the nearby lake made Loren dare not be careless.

Food was not abundant in the Endless Wasteland, and water sources often represented food, which could attract a large number of magical beasts to gather.

The existence of the vicious Frogmen in the lake was the best example.

Speaking of this issue, Barbarian Chieftain Yas's expression became a bit grave.

"Lord Loren, we discovered some strange things in the area downstream of the lake..."

Loren's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Did Beastmen appear downstream?"

Barbarian Chieftain Yas shook his head.

"No, the further downstream we went, the fewer magical beasts there were. In some areas, we couldn't even see ordinary beasts."

Loren raised an eyebrow.

The number of magical beasts near a water source should logically be quite large. The only possibility for an area to lose all traces of magical beasts was that the surrounding area was the hunting ground of some powerful race or magical beast.

A few kilometers was too small an area. Given the radiation range of Bright Moon City, the two sides would inevitably clash.

"Can you determine what race it is?"

Sim's black cloak fluttered behind him, and he grinned as he rushed to answer.

"Lord Loren, I smelled the scent of Boarman, Lizardman, and Berserk Brown Bear in that area."

Boarman? Lizardman? Berserk Brown Bear?

Relevant memories immediately surfaced in Loren's mind.

Boarman were the most numerous lifeforms among the Beastmen. They were omnivorous, ate everything, could give birth to over a dozen offspring at once, had exaggerated reproductive capabilities, and could be seen everywhere in the Endless Wasteland.

Berserk Brown Bear were extremely large bear-type magical beasts. Legend had it that they were descendants of Hell Brown Bears, possessed some evil power within their bodies, were powerful and violent, and could not be tamed.

There was no need to say much about Lizardman; they were the greatest enemy of the Silver Moon Kingdom and also the common enemy of humanity.

In the Endless Wasteland, whenever humans and Lizardman met, they would absolutely launch attacks without mercy and engage in the bloodiest of battles.

"Expand the search range tomorrow. Besides that area, do not let other locations go unchecked."

"We must find all entities that pose a danger to us."

This sudden unknown threat made Loren raise his guard.

Boarman didn't have the ability to make an area devoid of even wild beasts, so they could be ruled out first.

Berserk Brown Bear were fine; although magical beasts were powerful, they could be dealt with.

But if there was a Lizardman territory near Bright Moon City.

Then the outcome would be hard to say.

War could break out at any time.
