114: Chapter 114 Redeem Points

Ye Qingqing and Ah Huang got out of the car.

Li Qingshan and Su Miaomiao, on the other hand, drove further into the base.

"New arrivals to the base, register your supplies here."

A soldier in charge of registration spoke with a hint of impatience; he had been registering people all night.

Seeing that his shift was almost over, he was anxious to finish and couldn't wait to rush back.

Ye Qingqing glanced at the man and handed over her food.

It was exactly one catty of sweet potatoes.

The soldier peeked into the bag and then weighed it.

But with just that one glance, the soldier was somewhat surprised, and his gaze was filled with astonishment when he looked at Ye Qingqing.

This was because the quality of the sweet potatoes Ye Qingqing handed over was exceptionally good, just like sweet potatoes from before the Post-Apocalyptic World.

The soldier even felt that they seemed quite fresh.

For a moment, he didn't know what to say as he looked at Ye Qingqing.

Ye Qingqing glanced at the soldier.

"Comrade, I'm in a bit of a hurry."

After Ye Qingqing spoke, she secretly slipped the soldier a small pack of compressed biscuits.

Seeing this, the soldier was even more surprised.

However, he knew in his heart that although the clothes Ye Qingqing wore weren't anything fancy...

They looked very clean.

He immediately realized that she was someone he couldn't afford to offend.

The current Post-Apocalyptic World was nothing like the previous era of civilization.

In this base, those with supplies were the ones with capital; even a common soldier knew there were many people he couldn't afford to cross.

The soldier stammered for a moment.

Then, he immediately took a photo of Ye Qingqing for registration.

Although it was called registration, it was actually just taking a headshot, entering it into the system, and giving Ye Qingqing an ID card.

It had Ye Qingqing's photo and name on it.

"Ms. Ye, Ms. Ye, the dog also needs to be registered."

Actually, the soldier hadn't finished; dogs entering the base also required a food payment, though not as much as humans.

It only required two catties of food.

But the soldier didn't mention it, since Ye Qingqing had already given him compressed biscuits.

While compressed biscuits were common before the Post-Apocalyptic World, with the current high temperatures and drought, even compressed biscuits were becoming unaffordable.

Even though he was on duty at the base, he only received one pack of compressed biscuits a month.

He usually ate them very sparingly.

But now, Ye Qingqing had given him a month's worth in one go.

He had to give Ye Qingqing a break.

"Normally, a dog requires two catties of food, but your situation is special, so it's not necessary."

"This is the dog's ID tag."

After the soldier finished registering Ah Huang, he said this to Ye Qingqing.

Ye Qingqing wasn't slow; he told her the dog needed two catties of food just to let her know he was doing her a favor.

Ye Qingqing fumbled in her bag and pulled out an off-brand chocolate bar.

This off-brand chocolate was cloyingly sweet; before the Post-Apocalyptic World, no one would have eaten it.

But now, with food in short supply, the soldier's eyes lit up when he saw the chocolate Ye Qingqing handed over.

His fingers trembled as he took the chocolate.

Everyone in the base knew about collecting supplies at the gate.

This soldier had been standing here all night, and not a single wealthy person had given him anything.

He hadn't expected Ye Qingqing to arrive just as dawn was approaching.

The soldier was now incredibly relieved that he hadn't initially told Ye Qingqing she needed two catties of food for the dog.

This chocolate alone could be exchanged for a lot of food in the base.

"Ms. Ye, please have a safe journey!"

The soldier was still excited as he watched Ye Qingqing leave.

This was chocolate... many people in the base were looking to buy chocolate.

When Ye Qingqing left the registration point, Li Qingshan and Su Miaomiao were already waiting nearby.

"Sister Qingqing, you're all registered, right? They didn't give you a hard time, did they?"

Li Qingshan asked Ye Qingqing with some concern.

After all, he had heard that the people at the gate occasionally made things difficult for newcomers.

Ye Qingqing shook her head. "No, but I gave them a small pack of compressed biscuits and a chocolate bar."

"Let's go. Before the sun comes up, let's see where we're staying."

Ye Qingqing had heard Li Qingshan mention before that housing in this base required credits, and supplies could be exchanged for credits.

Newcomers were entitled to stay in the Large Dormitory for one month.

However, Ye Qingqing wasn't going to wrong herself by staying in the Large Dormitory, so she was going to exchange some supplies first.

When Li Qingshan and Su Miaomiao brought Ye Qingqing to the Supply Exchange Center, the place was also getting ready to close.

Due to the high temperatures, the daily routine in the base had shifted to being active at night and resting during the day.

There were only a few people in the Supply Exchange Center at this time.

Of course, part of the reason was that the last batch of people from the gate hadn't come in yet.

"This is the place to exchange supplies."

Li Qingshan blocked the people who were trying to crowd around them.

In this Supply Exchange Center, there were often people hanging around, but they weren't there to exchange supplies; they were constantly observing the newcomers.

Whenever a newcomer appeared, they would step forward and ask if they needed a guide.

These guides were also trying to earn some supplies or credits.

Living in this base, especially in the Post-Apocalyptic World, one had to find ways to obtain supplies.

Otherwise, they would starve to death.

Under the current circumstances, things were just that cruel.

Ye Qingqing glanced at the guides and noticed that after Li Qingshan blocked them, the way they looked at him changed.

Some even ignored Li Qingshan entirely and spoke directly to Ye Qingqing.

"Miss! I'm a professional. I know this base inside and out, and I've been doing this for a long time. I'm definitely more familiar with it than this kid. Follow me, and you definitely won't lose out!"

The speaker was a man with a very wretched face, small eyes, and a small mouth.

He looked like a shifty-eyed thief.

Ye Qingqing ignored him and followed Li Qingshan straight to the supply exchange window.

Seeing that Ye Qingqing ignored him, the man gave her a vicious glare.

However, Ah Huang noticed, and a low growl issued from his throat toward the man.

Ye Qingqing said softly to Ah Huang, "Ah Huang, forget it."

Ah Huang looked up at Ye Qingqing; although he was reluctant, he couldn't win against her.

After a few whimpers, he followed Ye Qingqing.

Other people around who were eager to try their luck dropped the idea of soliciting Ye Qingqing after seeing Ah Huang.

They were mainly afraid of the dog.

In high temperatures and with a lack of medical supplies, being bitten by this dog would be a death sentence.

Ye Qingqing walked up to the counter and spoke to the girl there.

"Hello, I'd like to exchange for credits."

The counter girl glanced at Ye Qingqing and saw that she wasn't carrying any bags.

She subconsciously assumed Ye Qingqing was poor.

Even though she had a dog, the girl still didn't take Ye Qingqing seriously.

"Mm, what do you want to exchange?"
