64: Chapter 64 is uncompiled.
After Ye Qingqing returned to her bed, she paid no more attention to the banging on the door and the angry shouting outside.
She put on a pair of headphones, sent Ah Huang into her Space, and returned to her dreams.
By the time she woke up, it was already 6 PM.
Ye Qingqing let Ah Huang out, intending to take him for a stroll around the ship and see if there was any work she could do.
After all, she had a dog with her. Although humans received a bowl of relief porridge every day—enough to keep them from starving, but not enough to feel full—dogs were not included.
To avoid suspicion, Ye Qingqing planned to find a job and see what she could do.
When she stepped out, she noticed it seemed to be the time when people on the ship finished work.
Just like the beasts of burden before the Post-Apocalyptic World, even Wang Guifen had finished her shift.
She even had a beaming smile when she saw Ye Qingqing.
"Ye Qingqing, right? I remember you. Are you just heading out?"
"I've got to go, my shift is over."
"Goodbye."
Wang Guifen said this to Ye Qingqing and left before Ye Qingqing even had a chance to say a word.
Ye Qingqing and Ah Huang's mouths twitched as they looked at each other.
It seemed life on the ship was the same; workers were just cogs in the machine, living like beasts of burden.
Ye Qingqing shrugged and walked away with Ah Huang.
When Ye Qingqing arrived yesterday, she had only seen the places for processing IDs and collecting supplies.
There were still many places she hadn't visited yet.
So, she wanted to look around now. It would be even better if she could find a job where she could just coast along.
Ye Qingqing walked up the stairs toward the Deck and suddenly saw a familiar figure at the corner.
Huo Sixian was still dressed in camouflage pants and a tight tank top.
The muscle lines on his exposed arms were exceptionally well-defined.
Huo Sixian leaned against the wall with one leg slightly bent, a cigarette held in one hand. As the smoke rings rose, they shrouded his face.
Ye Qingqing was slightly stunned when she saw Huo Sixian, but then she walked right past him as if she hadn't seen him.
Ah Huang also acted as if he hadn't seen him. Ah Huang remembered that Huo Sixian had spoken ill of him! He took it to heart!
The moment Ye Qingqing brushed past Huo Sixian, she suddenly felt a burning grip on her wrist.
Looking down, she saw Huo Sixian's hand was firmly grasping her wrist.
"Why are you leaving without saying a word?"
Ye Qingqing's gaze fell on Huo Sixian's hand.
"Let go."
Huo Sixian's thin lips were pressed tightly together, and he remained silent.
Ye Qingqing exerted force, trying to break free from Huo Sixian's grip.
But the difference in strength between a man and a woman was vast, and the person in front of her was Huo Sixian.
Ye Qingqing also grew angry. For some reason, a surge of irritation flared up inside her.
"Who do you think you are? What right do you have to question me here?" After saying this, Ye Qingqing felt something was off.
What standing did she have to say such things?
After all, she and Huo Sixian had no relationship.
"Ye Qingqing, this ship isn't a good place. I..."
Hearing Huo Sixian's words, Ye Qingqing grew impatient. Her eyes flashed with anger as she struggled hard to shake off his hand.
"Does it have anything to do with you? We aren't that close, after all."
Hearing her words, Huo Sixian's eyes darkened. His grip on her hand tightened instinctively, as if he were terrified she would leave the next second.
Ye Qingqing took a deep breath and frowned at Huo Sixian. "You're hurting me."
Hearing this, a flash of panic appeared in Huo Sixian's eyes. "Sorry..."
He immediately released her hand.
Just then, a sharp voice came from nearby: "Brother Si Yan!"
A mocking smile curled on Ye Qingqing's lips. "Your little girlfriend is looking for you, Brother Si Yan~"
"No, let me explain..."
Huo Sixian looked flustered, fearing Ye Qingqing might misunderstand, but she wasn't going to give him the chance.
As Huo Sixian was about to explain, Xu Xueke sidled up to him.
As for Ye Qingqing, she had already vanished with Ah Huang, leaving not even a shadow behind.
"Brother Si Yan, what are you looking at?"
Xu Xueke noticed Huo Sixian staring at the corridor, but there was no one there, so she couldn't help but ask.
Huo Sixian's eyes darkened, and then he said harshly to Xu Xueke, "Miss Xueke, I've said it many times. Don't call me Brother Si Yan. We aren't that close."
After saying that, Huo Sixian turned and left without giving Xu Xueke another glance.
Xu Xueke stood there, wearing a luxurious blue lace dress. She had even specially chosen a pair of exquisite diamond-encrusted high heels to match her dress today.
She hadn't expected Huo Sixian wouldn't even give her a look.
Xu Xueke's palms tightened, her manicured nails nearly digging into her flesh.
When she arrived just now, she had clearly seen the tail of that Ah Huang dog she had taken a fancy to yesterday.
So... it wasn't that Huo Sixian thought the dog was bad.
Rather, Huo Sixian had been intentionally shielding Ye Qingqing all along, just so she couldn't have that Ah Huang dog.
Ye Qingqing didn't know yet that Xu Xueke had officially labeled her as a love rival.
As for Ye Qingqing, her outing today had yielded some results.
She discovered that the ship was recruiting Volunteers to join the Army.
However, this batch of Volunteers had to undergo rigorous training but would not be included in the ranks of Regular Soldiers.
To put it simply, they would live a life within the system but without official status.
This requirement might be dismissed by others, who would think: why join the Army if you aren't recognized and still have to undergo rigorous training every day?
Who could stand that?
But Ye Qingqing was different. To her, these conditions seemed tailor-made.
Because once she joined, she could receive formal training, which would be beneficial for her.
Ye Qingqing thought to herself that her current fighting skills weren't great. If there was a place, or if... Huo Sixian could train her some more.
Then her chances of surviving in the Post-Apocalyptic World would be much higher.
Otherwise, even with her Space, she wouldn't be able to protect that vast wealth without strength.
However, the Army recruitment staff had already finished work for the day, so Ye Qingqing would have to apply tomorrow.
"Ye Qingqing!"
Just as Ye Qingqing was about to head back, she heard a man's voice.
