187: Chapter 187 It Was Like a Dream
The corner of Ye Qingqing's mouth lifted slightly as she linked arms with Huo Sixian.
"Let's go, it's time to head back."
She then cast a sidelong glance at Situ Tu lying on the ground.
Speaking to Kong Ziyi, she said: "This man has committed too many sins. Kill him."
Kong Ziyi snorted disdainfully through his nose, his feet already moving.
Under Situ Tu's terrified gaze, a metal spike shot out from Kong Ziyi's hand.
Amidst Situ Tu's muffled, incoherent shouts,
the metal spike pierced Situ Tu's skull.
Situ Tu's cries abruptly ceased.
Ye Qingqing watched all this unfold before her with cold eyes.
She then turned to face the others: "I'll say this one last time. Anyone who wants to come with us now, go directly to the main gate of the base."
Ye Qingqing glanced at the sky, which was beginning to lighten.
"We won't wait."
After speaking, Ye Qingqing led her people away, not looking back at those from the base who remained behind.
She had said all that needed to be said. To say more would be impolite to those who stayed.
As Ye Qingqing, Huo Sixian, and the others like Lu Huan were leaving, Huo Sixian still seemed a bit dazed.
He hadn't anticipated that the people here could harbor such thoughts.
Once the group reached the base's main gate, Ye Qingqing took out a luxurious recreational vehicle from her spatial storage.
"Get in. It's such hot weather; no need to stand outside the whole time."
"If there's anything to discuss, we'll talk in private."
After Ye Qingqing's group boarded the luxurious recreational vehicle, Little Handsome, who had been watching from nearby, finally revealed a look of terror before rushing off to report.
Meanwhile, the mood inside the recreational vehicle was clearly still quite somber.
Ye Qingqing released Ah Huang from her spatial storage.
After being cooped up in the spatial storage for two or three days, Ah Huang was quite restless.
The moment Ah Huang emerged, he immediately rushed to Ye Qingqing, whimpering and whining.
He kept complaining about his grievances.
Ah Huang's inner monologue: *This dog's heart is bitter, but this dog can't speak.*
"Whimper whimper..." Ah Huang lay in Ye Qingqing's arms, still thinking of himself as a puppy.
But in reality, when Ah Huang stood up, he was almost big enough to knock Ye Qingqing over.
Ye Qingqing didn't say anything about it, just kept stroking Ah Huang's fur.
She then took out some food and drinks from her spatial storage and distributed them to the people in the vehicle.
The people inside had gone hungry for several days and immediately started eating.
While in someone else's base, they hadn't dared to eat much and were now starving.
Especially Kong Ziyi, who devoured every last grain of rice from the several boxed meals placed before him.
Mo Wangchuan, sitting beside him, counted carefully and was shocked to find there were five boxes!
This utterly astonished Mo Wangchuan.
He directly gave Kong Ziyi a thumbs-up.
"As expected, my big bro is still my big bro. Even his appetite is on a different level!"
Mo Wangchuan looked at Kong Ziyi with a hint of admiration in his eyes.
Ye Qingqing couldn't help but twitch the corner of her mouth.
It seemed these two were just like overgrown boys, quite childish.
However, Ye Qingqing could understand. After seeing the people in this base, she felt that those around her were at least much more normal.
But when Ye Qingqing shifted her gaze to Huo Sixian, she noticed
he was currently burying his head in his food, seemingly deep in thought.
She actually knew what he was thinking about.
Ye Qingqing simply sat down beside Huo Sixian.
"You saw what happened in my illusion, didn't you?"
Hearing Ye Qingqing's words, Huo Sixian's expression instantly turned serious.
Moreover, he immediately stopped Ye Qingqing from continuing.
"Qingqing."
Ye Qingqing knew what Huo Sixian wanted to say, so she immediately cut him off.
"I can wait for you to finish your meal first."
But how could Huo Sixian possibly have the heart to eat at this moment?
His entire heart was focused on Ye Qingqing.
The food in his hand no longer seemed appealing.
Ye Qingqing, Huo Sixian, and Ah Huang went to the very back of the recreational vehicle.
The rear of the vehicle was a modified room that looked like a well-decorated suite.
Huo Sixian stood by the door, wanting to pull a cigarette from his pocket, but after glancing at Ye Qingqing, he restrained himself.
However, Ye Qingqing took out a pack of cigarettes from her spatial storage, lit one with practiced ease, and began to smoke.
She also casually handed one to Huo Sixian.
Beside them, Ah Huang tilted his puppy head, looking at Ye Qingqing and Huo Sixian with confusion.
He felt that something had definitely happened between these two, but he couldn't quite put his paw on what exactly.
After all, he was just a dog.
The complicated twists and turns of human relationships were not something a dog could understand.
Looking at the glowing red tip of her cigarette, Ye Qingqing suddenly felt that some things couldn't simply be forgotten or left in the past just because she wished them away.
For example, if she hadn't experienced the things from her past life, she would absolutely be just like Huo Sixian.
She could hate the Sheep-Eating Clan, and so could Huo Sixian.
But Huo Sixian's hatred stemmed from his humanity, his inability to accept humans preying on their own kind.
Ye Qingqing could understand what happened at Viper Base because, in her past life, she had witnessed too many similar events.
But Huo Sixian couldn't accept it, because no one in the world can truly empathize unless they have experienced the same thing themselves.
Clearly, Ye Qingqing could understand because she *had* empathized—she had lived through it.
Only those who have truly starved know the feeling of hunger.
That kind of hunger where, if the dirt on the ground were clean, you'd pick it up and eat it.
Though it was highly likely that portion of dirt would simply sit in your stomach, impossible to digest.
But, at least with it in your belly, you wouldn't necessarily starve to death.
"Huo Sixian, let me tell you a story."
Ye Qingqing's story began from the latter part, the part Huo Sixian hadn't seen in the illusion.
The summary of the story was simple: just a tale of a powerless woman struggling desperately to survive in the Post-Apocalyptic World.
Ye Qingqing had wondered in her heart: if Huo Sixian knew about these things, knew she had been a woman who slept with any man to survive, would he still want to be with her?
She wasn't a man, but she understood men.
So, for a very long time, Ye Qingqing didn't believe in love.
She didn't even believe that someone could love her consistently.
Having been drenched by the rain herself, she wanted to hold an umbrella for her reborn self—an umbrella that would block out anything that could hurt her.
But then Huo Sixian appeared, someone who was never part of Ye Qingqing's original plan.
Ye Qingqing told the story in great detail, starting from Ye Shanhai and moving on to Fu Peisheng and Lin Wanrou.
Interspersed in between were many, many nameless men.
When Ye Qingqing finished recounting all this, she suddenly felt that her past life and present life were like a dream.
