283: Chapter 283 Have you had enough fun?

Yun Chi looked down in the direction the Strange Spirit was pointing.

Just as the Strange Spirit had said.

In the place where Yun Chi had originally intended to set his next feeding bowl, creatures he had never seen before were now gathered.

"You say, what are those? The Human Race?"

The Strange Spirit nodded hurriedly, fearing that a slow response would displease Yun Chi.

"Yes, yes, yes, those are the Human Race. They are a new group that flourished while Lord Yun Chi was sleeping all these years. I heard that the Heavenly Dao felt this world was too boring and moved this new race here from another star."

Yun Chi showed a hint of disdain upon hearing the Strange Spirit mention the Heavenly Dao.

"The Heavenly Dao? If I hadn't been too disdainful to bother with such matters back then, would that greenhorn have ever gotten the chance to be the Heavenly Dao?"

Hearing Yun Chi call the Heavenly Dao a greenhorn, the Strange Spirit immediately knelt down in terror.

Cowering with its whole body hunched together, it didn't dare to look up, fearing that if it said another word, either Yun Chi or the Heavenly Dao would come looking for trouble.

The Strange Spirit felt extremely aggrieved in its heart.

Fortunately, having lived for hundreds of thousands of years, Yun Chi did not make things difficult for a mere little Strange Spirit.

"Enough, you may leave. I shall go see for myself what this Human Race is all about and what novelties they bring."

Although the Strange Spirit wanted to say that the Human Race was a new toy moved here by the Heavenly Dao, and even the Heavenly Dao couldn't bear to play with them too much...

...it hadn't expected Lord Yun Chi to head there as soon as he woke up.

The Strange Spirit wanted to stop him, but it didn't dare to speak up.

By the time the Strange Spirit reacted, Yun Chi had already descended to the lower realm.

The Strange Spirit could only lie on the ground and play dead.

"I don't know anything. I woke up from a nap and Lord Yun Chi was gone. It has nothing to do with me; I don't know anything."

Meanwhile, upon arriving in the Human Realm, Yun Chi suddenly discovered that those people were all tiny.

They weren't even as big as his claws.

So, he cast a Shrinking Technique on himself.

Transforming himself into the likeness of a small snake.

Just as Yun Chi finished his transformation, he saw a young girl walking toward him.

Yun Chi had never seen such a beautiful creature before.

The girl's skin was like congealed fat, her lips red and teeth white, and her almond-shaped eyes were full of spirit.

With just one look, Yun Chi instantly understood why the Heavenly Dao had introduced the Human Race.

It turned out it was because these humans were so good-looking.

The girl hummed a little tune as she walked, looking as happy as could be.

Curiosity piqued, Yun Chi followed the girl all the way.

To move about more easily in the Human Realm...

...Yun Chi specifically took on a human form, transforming into the image of an elegant young master.

However, Yun Chi did not yet know the habits and customs of the Human Race.

So he kept following the girl, living around her in an invisible state.

Gradually, Yun Chi followed the girl into a human marketplace.

Yun Chi had originally thought all humans were as beautiful as this girl, but they were not.

Some humans looked very fierce, while others looked like rats.

Some resembled foxes, tigers, jackals...

In short, they had all sorts of appearances.

Unlike that girl, who looked like a little elf.

During the time he followed her, Yun Chi learned that the girl was named Ye Qingqing.

She was the legitimate daughter of a famous and prestigious local family in the Human Realm.

When Yun Chi first saw Ye Qingqing, she was only fifteen years old, and already she had grown to be quite exquisite.

But when Yun Chi heard Ye Qingqing's parents were going to discuss marriage prospects with her, he became displeased.

"The Human Race has such short lifespans, to think they reach the age for marriage discussions at fifteen."

At first, out of curiosity, Yun Chi even followed Ye Qingqing during her marriage discussions.

But whenever Yun Chi saw Ye Qingqing's potential future husbands, he felt uncomfortable, and a certain place in his heart felt stifled.

Yun Chi didn't know where this feeling came from; he just felt uncomfortable whenever he saw other men beside Ye Qingqing.

So, Yun Chi secretly thought of all sorts of ways to drive away the people around Ye Qingqing.

Seeing one marriage prospect after another fall through for Ye Qingqing, the culprit, Yun Chi, was overjoyed.

But gradually, Ye Qingqing's reputation began to sour.

The reason was that some of the men who had discussed marriage with Ye Qingqing gathered one day and spoke of the strange occurrences around her.

"It's strange. Whenever I was with that Miss Ye, I felt cold all over—a bone-chilling, whistling cold, as if some evil spirit were watching me."

After a handsome man mentioned this, the other men around him nodded in agreement.

"Exactly! Not only that, but I felt like I became incredibly unlucky as soon as I got close to Miss Ye. That day, I actually tripped and fell flat on my face right in front of her!"

"Me, a dignified martial artist! I've never had a misstep while walking!"

"But on that day..."

Once the gossip started, the rumors spread.

Ye Qingqing didn't originally care about these things because she didn't think much of those men anyway.

But she couldn't stop her family from feeling they were losing face.

"Qingqing, what is going on with you? Everyone outside is saying you're a jinx and unlucky. What exactly happened between you and those young masters from the noble families?"

Ye Qingqing's mother looked at her, unable to hide the worry etched between her brows.

But Ye Qingqing didn't care much, simply shrugging and spreading her hands. "I don't know. They just get unlucky when they're with me. Who knows? Maybe I really am a jinx to them."

Ye Qingqing's mother was furious. She slapped the table and stood up, pointing a silk handkerchief at Ye Qingqing. "You! You! You!"

"Are you really determined to annoy me to death?!"

But Ye Qingqing made a face. "I think this is fine. I'd rather never marry and just stay home to keep you company, Mother. Isn't that good?"

Ye Qingqing's mother could do nothing with her and could only let her be.

However, after leaving her mother's room, Ye Qingqing's face bore a look of sorrow.

In truth, she didn't like the people her mother arranged for her to meet either.

But as a sheltered lady, the only way she could encounter men from outside was through these arranged meetings.

In reality, she had been waiting—waiting for the man from her dreams to come and marry her.

Yet, after all this time, that person still hadn't appeared.

Hiding in the shadows, Yun Chi looked at Ye Qingqing's lonely eyes. For some reason, a part of his heart felt stifled, as if something were blocked.

He couldn't find an outlet, nor could he vent it at all.

He could only wait until the dead of night, after Ye Qingqing had fallen asleep, to quietly slip into her dreams.

However, on this day, when Yun Chi entered Ye Qingqing's dream, she immediately threw her arms around him the moment she saw him.

"Yun Chi!"

"Have you played enough yet?!"
