87: Chapter 87 Ah Huang Gives Ye Qingqing an Explanation

"Ah Huang..."

"Ah Huang..."

Ah Huang had been running with all his might, to the point where even the pads of his paws were worn raw from the intense heat.

But Ah Huang wanted to find Ye Qingqing, so he kept pushing forward.

Suddenly, Ah Huang heard someone calling his name, but the voice didn't belong to Ye Qingqing.

The voice sounded ethereal, even carrying a hint of unreality.

Doubt gradually began to well up in Ah Huang's heart.

The puppy's mind was filled with confusion as he started to ponder the current situation—why was he here?

Thinking of this, Ah Huang suddenly remembered the meat he ate last night and how the temperature inside the recreational vehicle had abruptly risen...

Right!

The recreational vehicle!

Ah Huang suddenly realized—wasn't he with Ye Qingqing in the recreational vehicle?

Then why was he now in this godforsaken place, surrounded by flames?

Doubt gradually began to well up in the puppy's mind...

A dazed look appeared in his eyes. Ah Huang slowly lowered his head and closed his eyes. He suddenly felt that the place he was in now was just an illusion.

Because Ah Huang trusted Ye Qingqing. He believed she wouldn't abandon him, a dog, and certainly wouldn't leave him in this godforsaken place.

Ah Huang was confident in his heart; he believed he was Ye Qingqing's favorite puppy.

So Ah Huang trusted Ye Qingqing and also believed this place was merely an illusion.

After Ah Huang closed his eyes, everything around him seemed to change. The surroundings were no longer scorching.

Even the pain in the pads of his paws lessened.

But after Ah Huang closed his eyes, the ethereal voice remained, even overpowering Ye Qingqing's voice.

"Ah Huang..."

"Come here..."

Ah Huang listened carefully to figure out where this voice was coming from.

Finally... Ah Huang realized the voice was calling him to come closer.

Ah Huang's eyes remained shut, but after clearly hearing the voice, he sensed the surroundings had changed.

The scorching heat from the volcanic rocks had finally vanished.

Ah Huang didn't open his eyes, but he could feel the environment around him had shifted into a vast, gray expanse. From afar, it looked just like the boundless area in Ye Qingqing's space.

"Come here..."

Ah Huang heard the voice again. He furrowed his brow, hesitation still lingering in his heart.

But gradually, Ah Huang noticed the voice seemed harmless. In fact, it even sounded a bit like Ye Qingqing's voice.

Perhaps Ye Qingqing was somewhere nearby. Ah Huang hesitated no longer and immediately chased in the direction of the voice.

However, as Ah Huang started running on all fours, the voice seemed to taunt him, growing farther and farther away.

But Ah Huang wasn't discouraged. Because Ye Qingqing might be ahead, he wasn't afraid.

Ah Huang ran and ran, gradually noticing the surroundings becoming more open.

A red, fiery light seemed to appear before him.

Ah Huang knew he was almost there.

So Ah Huang opened his eyes, wanting to see what exactly was going on around him.

However, the moment he opened his eyes, Ah Huang froze in shock because Ye Qingqing was nowhere in sight.

Instead, there was only a cluster of glowing red sparks.

Moreover, the sparks seemed to be suspended in mid-air.

Anger rose in Ah Huang's heart. If Ye Qingqing wasn't here, why did the voice lead him to this place?

Who knew what that voice was trying to do!

Ye Qingqing had told Ah Huang that anyone who tried to lure him, other than her, was a bad person.

Angered, Ah Huang let out a low growl from his throat.

And just then, the sparks emitted a sound.

"Ah Huang..."

Ah Huang was already furious, and now these sparks dared to make a sound.

This infuriated Ah Huang so much that he opened his mouth wide and swallowed the sparks whole.

All he heard was a sharp, agonized scream from the sparks.

"Ah!..."

Immediately after, the sparks fell silent.

Once the sparks were completely swallowed, Ah Huang felt a flash of white light all around, forcing him to instinctively close his eyes.

When the white light subsided, Ah Huang sensed intense heat rising in the air around him, making him unconsciously pant heavily.

The moment he opened his eyes, Ye Qingqing scooped him into a tight hug.

"Ah Huang... you're finally awake..."

Ye Qingqing was also frightened because, moments ago, Ah Huang's entire body had been unresponsive, and his heart had momentarily stopped beating.

He had even stopped breathing.

Ye Qingqing had thought Ah Huang was going to be lost to a fever.

Tears welled up in her eyes, ready to fall.

But she never expected Ah Huang to wake up.

It truly gave her a terrible scare.

The feeling of losing Ah Huang in her previous life seemed to resurface in her heart.

Her heart felt hollow.

If there was anything more regrettable than losing something precious, it was probably losing it again after having it returned.

That was exactly how Ye Qingqing felt now. The sharp, stinging pain in her heart made her breath catch for a moment.

She almost couldn't breathe.

Ah Huang, having just woken up, was also completely bewildered.

So... everything he had just experienced was for nothing?

It was all just a dream?

Ah Huang lifted his confused eyes to look at Ye Qingqing.

He pawed at Ye Qingqing's arm, trying to tell her he was fine.

But Ye Qingqing, lost in her own sorrow, couldn't see Ah Huang. She just held him and cried.

Ah Huang was touched, but the next moment, he suddenly felt a severe itch in his throat.

It felt like something was about to burst out.

Ah Huang's body thrashed violently.

He wanted to break free from Ye Qingqing's embrace.

Ye Qingqing felt Ah Huang's movements but didn't react immediately.

By the time Ah Huang managed to wriggle free, he could no longer hold back what was in his throat.

He spewed it all over the floor of the recreational vehicle.

A massive burst of flame instantly erupted from Ah Huang's mouth.

Seeing this, Ye Qingqing immediately reacted. Ignoring the recreational vehicle, she took Ah Huang and hid inside her space.

Once inside the space, Ah Huang was utterly bewildered.

He was also badly frightened by his newfound ability to breathe fire.

Suddenly, Ah Huang realized it might be because he had devoured that fire source in his dream.

But... wasn't that just a dream?

Standing in the space, Ye Qingqing and Ah Huang stared at each other—human eyes locked with dog eyes—waiting for Ah Huang to give Ye Qingqing an explanation.

But Ah Huang couldn't speak and had no idea how to explain.

In his anxiety, his tongue circled in his mouth, wishing he could speak human words to tell Ye Qingqing what had just happened to him...
