827: Chapter 827 Beating Up a Prodigy!
In an instant, a visible shockwave erupted from where the giant beast's tail fin struck, carrying earth-shattering force as it swept toward the aurora.
"Boom!!!"
The entire ship was violently shoved from the side, as if by an invisible giant hand. The hull tilted nearly forty-five degrees to the right in an instant.
Everyone on deck instantly lost their balance, tumbling into a heap.
Derek was standing at the cabin entrance, just about to issue orders, when his feet suddenly slipped, and he slammed toward the left side.
"Bang!" With a loud sound, his head knocked against the doorframe, making him see stars.
Immediately after, the ship continued to tilt, and those on deck who hadn't grabbed onto fixed objects began sliding toward the sea. Piercing screams exploded across the ocean surface.
"Grab the railing! I'm about to fly off!"
"Help me! I'm going to fall! Someone grab me!"
"Ahhh!!!"
Some people clung to the guardrails, legs dangling in the air, their bodies swaying in the gale. Others rolled like gourds from the bow to the stern, getting bruised and battered.
A few unlucky souls were even thrown directly over the side, falling into the sea and struggling to call for help amidst the waves.
The giant beast flicked its tail again. The ship tilted once more, leaning in the other direction. The aurora pitched and tossed wildly on the sea, the screaming never ceasing.
After two strikes, the aurora was in shambles.
Dozens of people lay scattered across the deck.
Those who had just been clamoring to slaughter the giant beast were now covered in dust and dirt, unable to even stand steady.
Derek struggled to climb up, holding onto the doorframe. There was a red, swollen bump on his forehead, and his face was as pale as paper. He finally realized a terrifying fact.
The giant beast hadn't been serious at all just now. It had only flicked its tail twice, and their group was already on the verge of total annihilation.
If it really wanted to capsize the ship... it wouldn't even need a second strike; the ship would have flipped over.
Finally... the others also realized the severity of the situation and ran one by one toward the cabin where Ye Chen was. Staying on deck was useless. They couldn't fight it! They had to send him out!
"I was wrong! I was truly wrong! Mr. Ye! Save us!"
"We shouldn't have doubted you! As long as you send it away, we will do anything!"
"Mr. Ye! You are a magnanimous person! Don't hold this against us!"
"Please, have mercy! Pacify that monster! The ship is sinking, we are all going to die!"
Outside Ye Chen's cabin, those passengers who had been so arrogant just a moment ago knelt down one by one. Soon, the corridor outside was filled with people kneeling. A sea of heads stretched from the corridor all the way to the lobby.
Derek stood at the edge of the crowd, his face livid. When someone looked up and saw him, they immediately pointed at him and started cursing.
"It's all your fault! You were the one who told us to attack that giant beast!"
"If it weren't for your incitement, everything would have been fine already. Why the hell aren't you kneeling and begging Mr. Ye to show mercy?"
"Derek! Kneel down for me!"
Derek's teeth ground together with a clicking sound, and his fists were clenched so tightly they were almost digging into his palms. But the situation was dire, so with a dark face, he followed suit and knelt down...
Inside the cabin, Ye Chen was leaning against the headboard playing on his phone. The commotion outside didn't seem to affect him at all.
Yan Qingwu looked out the cabin window at the distant giant beast: "Are you really not going to intervene?"
Ye Chen stretched. "I have to intervene, of course."
"After all... we are still on this ship. If the ship capsizes, we'll both have to go swimming."
He stood up and stretched his neck. "But..." "They need to learn a lesson from this."
Having said that, Ye Chen opened the cabin door and walked out. Outside, a sea of people were kneeling on the ground. As soon as they saw him come out, they acted as if they had seen a living Bodhisattva, kowtowing repeatedly.
"Mr. Ye! You've finally come out! Please save us!"
Ye Chen swept a glance across the crowd, his gaze finally landing on Derek. Ye Chen grinned at him.
"Vice President Derek, didn't you say you were going to slaughter it just a moment ago?"
"How come now..." "You're kneeling too?"
Upon hearing this, Derek's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
"Ye Chen, don't push your luck!"
"I've already knelt, which is my limit. What else do you want?"
Ye Chen smiled without speaking, just tilting his head to look at him. That smile held three parts playfulness, five parts mockery, and two parts indifference. Sometimes, he didn't need to speak himself; someone else would speak for him!
Sure enough, upon hearing Derek's words, the people kneeling on the ground immediately blew up.
"Derek! Shut the hell up! You caused this mess, and you still dare to talk back?"
"Kowtow and apologize to Mr. Ye!"
"Do you want to get us all killed? If you want to die, go die yourself, don't drag us down with you!"
"Kneel down! Kowtow! Otherwise, even if I die, I'll take you down with me first!"
Dozens of angry gazes pierced Derek like knives. The posture! The aura! The look! They looked ready to tear him apart alive.
Derek's face alternated between green and white. He had been a prodigy his whole life; others had always knelt before him, he had never knelt before others. That kneeling just now was already the greatest humiliation of his life. Now these people actually wanted him to kowtow? Ab-so-lute-ly! Not! Pos-si-ble!
He stiffened his neck, his teeth clicking together: "Kneeling is my limit, don't even think about making me kowtow!"
Ye Chen shrugged and said nonchalantly. "It seems Vice President Derek doesn't think he's wrong..."
"Fine then, since the grudge between you hasn't been resolved, I can't manage the affairs on the ship either."
"Anyway... his attitude makes it seem like he wants everyone to die."
As soon as these words were spoken, the expressions of everyone around changed. A moment ago it was just anger, but now it turned into terror and fury. A burly man next to Derek suddenly grabbed his collar, almost lifting him up entirely: "If you want to die, don't drag us down with you!"
Another middle-aged woman slapped Derek directly on the back of the head.
"Kowtow to Mr. Ye quickly! Just because you ran your mouth, we were all almost slapped to death by the giant beast!"
"If you don't kowtow, we'll throw you into the sea to feed the fish!"
Derek was pressed down by several people grabbing his shoulders. So much so that he couldn't use the power within him at all.
Ye Chen watched this scene and almost laughed out loud. But he still feigned composure, his face indifferent.
"But..." "His cold-heartedness is Derek's own business."
"As the Deputy Team Leader of the Dragon Kingdom, how can I, Ye Chen, watch the whole ship's passengers perish in the sea just because of this small personal grudge?"
"Since everyone is sincerely begging me, I will help you this one time."
He raised both hands and cupped them to his mouth. Everyone suddenly quieted down, even holding their breath.
"Woo—" That horn-like sound flowed out from between his fingers again, like an invisible ripple, skimming across the sea surface and drifting into the distance...
The giant beast, which had been restless on the sea surface, tilted its massive head after hearing this sound. Then, it let out a whine, its enormous body slowly sinking and swimming toward the deep sea.
A few seconds later, the sea returned to calm. The wind stopped. The waves settled. The gray-black clouds in the sky began to disperse.
Everyone stared blankly at the sea surface that had returned to tranquility, and for a long while, no one spoke. Until Ye Chen spoke first.
"Alright, everyone can go back now. Rest if you need to, treat your injuries if you need to."
"The giant beast has gone far away and won't come back."
"You must, must, must not blame Mr. Derek!"
After saying this, he turned around and walked into the cabin without looking back. Then he closed the door.
The deck fell into a deathly silence. On everyone's faces, a trace of relief at having survived a disaster gradually appeared...
They almost thought they were going to die here! That giant beast was too terrifying...
There was no doubt. If it weren't for Ye Chen, they would likely have perished here!
Derek had stood up from the ground, roaring with a twisted face.
"Damn it! That giant beast must have been summoned by him on purpose!"
"First he summoned it to scare us! Then he pretended to send it away to act like a good guy!"
"This is clearly a play he directed and acted in!"
"From beginning to end, he's been playing us!!!"
Everyone came back to their senses and looked at him in unison. Dozens of pairs of eyes. Unkind gazes. Like cold knives, stabbing at Derek.
Derek was startled, subconsciously taking half a step back, and shouted with a blustering tone: "W-what are you doing?"
No one answered him. Only a fist, which smashed directly onto the bridge of his nose.
"Bang!" Derek couldn't even react before he felt a sharp pain in his nose, and then he staggered back, clutching his nose while screaming.
Immediately after, a second person rushed up and kicked him in the back of the knee. The next second. A third! A fourth! A fifth! One person after another rushed up frantically...
"Told you to stop your damn yapping! You almost got us all killed!"
"You still dare to continue framing Mr. Ye for directing and acting in this? Are you blind and heartless, damn you?"
"Hit him! Hit him until he shuts up!"
"Damn it, weren't you quite good at inciting people earlier? I'm here to incite you now!"
