104: Chapter 104 The Bound Corpse
The white figure appeared to be a middle-aged man with hollow eyes, facing the three of them.
Without any movement, his spiritual body was instantly annihilated, and then lines of white text emerged around the corpse.
Ye Jing walked up to take a look, and his scalp tingled; these were actually the last words of this Cultivator.
It was written that this Cultivator was the head of the Chen Family, with a Foundation Establishment cultivation level. The Family had made a living by growing crimson blood fruits for generations, and the crimson blood fruits produced were supplied to several surrounding Sects.
However, one day, they were invaded by demonic Cultivators and were wiped out without warning by a Golden Core Old Ancestor demonic Cultivator.
He also set up a malicious Formation for their Family called the "Blood Soul Vein-Extinguishing Array," which was an ancient evil Formation specifically used to destroy Spiritual Veins.
The demonic Cultivator who exterminated their Family called himself "Xuan Yin San Ren." Not only did he slaughter the entire Chen Family, but he also established this Formation to destroy the Chen Family's Foundation.
Ye Jing frowned as he read; he clenched his fists, not expecting that a Family with a Foundation Establishment head could be wiped out so easily. It was truly terrifying.
In this Blood Soul Vein-Extinguishing Array, the "Blood Array Initiation" uses the Blood Qi of enough living beings to draw out the Formation's base, while the "Soul Sacrifice for Vein Guarding" uses countless living souls to sacrifice to the Formation's veins, maintaining the array's operation and completely grinding away the Spiritual Vein.
Those skeletons in the valley were likely the living souls used for sacrifice back then; whether they were Mortals or Daoists, none could escape the disaster.
One could only say that this method of exterminating the nine clans was truly executed to the extreme.
As for the Formation being incomplete, it was because Righteous Sects had come to destroy it back then to prevent it from becoming a major hidden danger.
But even if this Formation was incomplete, it would still continuously suck in surrounding blood to breed Devilish Qi. Over time, the entire mountain range would turn into a demon's den.
The golden light bowl in Ye Jing's hand was a Spiritual Artifact gifted to this Family head by a Buddhist Cultivator friend. It was a Medium Grade Spiritual Artifact, a defensive Magical Artifact specifically designed to restrain evil things and allow the user to dispel evil and avoid filth.
When the demonic Cultivators were slaughtering the Chen Family, the Chen Family Head had his friend leave first to seek reinforcements and even returned the golden light bowl to his friend, hoping they would meet again one day.
Ye Jing thought of those skeletons that had been dead for an unknown amount of time; it seemed that this Chen Family Head and his friend had both failed to escape.
As for how to break the Formation, it was impossible for the last words to contain that.
After a moment of silence, Ye Jing decided to search deeper for a while to see if he could find anything else useful.
The Devilish Qi accumulated by this Formation over a long period was very thick, and it would be extremely troublesome to clear it completely.
The ancient characters gradually vanished into thin air. At this moment, Ye Jing heard a rustling sound and immediately became alert.
Within the black mist, several shriveled Corpse People emerged. They crawled with their hands and feet on the ground, looking like crawling beasts.
However, they were wary of the golden light bowl in Ye Jing's hand and did not dare to approach easily.
"There are actually zombies here?!" Ye Tianhao was startled, and he held his sword, ready to attack.
Ye Jing stared at the zombies and said to Ye Tianhao, "Haoer, don't smash them. Catch a few for your Second Mother!"
It just so happened that Liu Xianglan was quite interested in Corpse Puppet Refining, so he would catch a few for her to study.
"Yes, Grandfather!" Ye Tianhao charged forward with his sword. Having been nourished by Devilish Qi for years, those zombies had become extremely vicious, but their cultivation was not high. Facing the slashes of a spiritual sword, they had no power to fight back.
Ye Tianhao easily severed the limbs of several zombies and then used a rope to tie up one with intact limbs like a zongzi.
"Brother is so amazing!" Ye Tianyao exclaimed in admiration.
Ye Tianhao scratched his head, feeling embarrassed, but when he saw the bite and tear marks on the tied-up zombie, he immediately became serious.
"Grandfather, this zombie looks very wrong!" Ye Tianhao handed the captured zombie to Ye Jing for inspection.
Seeing the bite marks on these zombies, Ye Jing's brow furrowed instantly.
"Roar!" Suddenly, a shrill roar echoed from the Stone Building. This sound did not seem like a beast's, but more like a human's.
A loud metallic scraping sound came from above the Stone Building, like the sound of chains being pulled.
The group of corpses in the black mist also became increasingly frenzied, roaring incessantly around the golden light bowl in Ye Jing's hand.
There's something upstairs!
Ye Jing's eyes narrowed as he gripped the golden light bowl. The bowl then emitted an even stronger warm yellow glow, forcing the surrounding black mist back a few inches.
The zombies roaring around them seemed to be blocked by an invisible barrier, pacing anxiously at the edge of the glow, yet never daring to cross the line.
"Yaoer, step back. Haoer, protect your sister!" Ye Jing said in a deep voice, his tone carrying an unquestionable authority.
Ye Tianyao immediately hid behind Ye Tianhao. Ye Tianhao put the tied-up zombie into his Storage Pouch and held his moon-breaking sword in defense.
As they went upstairs, the metallic tearing sound grew closer, mixed with heavy footsteps. Each step that fell felt like it was treading on their hearts.
When they reached the upper floor, they saw a huge figure faintly appearing in the darkness. Upon closer inspection, they all gasped.
This figure was about two zhang tall. Its posture was hunched, yet it exuded a terrifyingly fierce aura. Its entire body was covered in shriveled, blackened skin that clung tightly to its bones, revealing a clear skeletal outline.
Its limbs were firmly bound by thick, long chains that faintly glowed with a pale golden light. Its entire body was pinned to the wall by the chains, with many knives and swords stuck in its body, and it was surrounded by zombies that had turned after being bitten.
The giant Corpse Person let out a sharp roar and suddenly tried to pounce toward Ye Jing and the others, but its limbs were bound by the chains, making it unable to move.
The three of them felt an extremely powerful sense of pressure from it; this zombie's strength far exceeded theirs!
He looked at this giant Corpse Person, his gaze falling on the iron chains binding it, and his heart suddenly stirred: "These chains have spiritual energy fluctuations. They are likely the Magical Artifact that sealed it back then, and this Corpse Person's strength is probably above ours!"
"Then isn't this Corpse Person at the Peak of Qi Refining!" Ye Tianhao was greatly shocked.
Ye Jing clenched his fists, the unease in his heart growing stronger. Just by slightly approaching this Corpse Person, he could feel an overwhelming pressure. He feared this Corpse Person was not just at Qi Refining, but might very well have reached Foundation Establishment!
He stared at the Corpse Person and said through gritted teeth, "Go! Let's leave this place!"
Just as he finished speaking, the giant Corpse Person let out another roar. This time it didn't pounce; instead, it violently shook its limbs, and the thick chains instantly became taut.
A harsh creaking sound rang out, and the pale golden light actually dimmed significantly under its brute force.
Even more terrifyingly, the knives and swords stuck in its body began to be forced out by the Corpse Qi surging from its body.
"Not good!" Ye Jing roared, grabbing Ye Tianhao and Ye Tianyao, and dashed down the Stone Building.
From the corner of his eye, he glimpsed a red light glowing on the giant Corpse Person's chest, pulsating faintly.
Although he didn't understand what it was, Ye Jing couldn't stop for a moment. They swung their swords to knock down several zombies that pounced on them, running all the way out of the valley.
That Corpse Person was too terrifying; staying behind would be seeking their own deaths!
