322: Chapter 322 Ants Bit Back

Wu Yuan had just become alert upon hearing this when a seven-foot-long meteor hammer, wreathed in blue flames, suddenly flew out from within the Formation.

Just as Wu Yuan thought the meteor hammer would be blocked as before, a swarm of small golden insects began devouring the Formation's barriers a step ahead of the hammer.

Though the insects were only the size of a palm, they possessed immense destructive power; with a single bite, fine cracks appeared on the Formation.

As the blue-flamed meteor hammer smashed down, the once-impregnable Buddha Formation began to crumble at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The two martial monks immediately spat out a mouthful of blood due to the backlash.

"What is this thing?!"

Wu Yuan watched the small golden insects dancing around the old man; he had never seen such a bizarre Spiritual Insect.

He hurriedly performed hand seals, attempting to continue reinforcing the Formation; he couldn't let these three Cultivators escape.

But those golden insects were like hungry wolves that had caught the scent of blood, swarming frantically through the gaps in the Formation's patterns. In the blink of an eye, they crawled onto the Formation Plate and began devouring it in a dense mass.

Caught off guard, the two martial monks controlling the Formation Plate were bitten on the backs of their hands by the golden insects. A piercing pain instantly shot through them, throwing their spiritual power into chaos, and the light of the Formation Plate completely dimmed.

As Ye Jing repeatedly threw his meteor hammer, the already precarious Formation became as fragile as glass, its cracks spreading rapidly under the heavy blows.

Finally, the Formation shattered completely. He Yu and Lin Dan instantly felt the pressure on them vanish, feeling refreshed and clear-headed.

Seeing the Formation broken by the old man with a few small insects, Wu Yuan was now beyond furious, his spiritual power surging around him.

"What a well-disguised old geezer! To think you dare play with me! Today, I will surely grind your bones to ash, extract your Primordial Spirit, and refine it into a lamp wick!"

With that, he pressed his palms together and began chanting an obscure Buddhist mantra. The string of buddhist beads expanded once more, transforming into dozens of pitch-black arrows of light that shot toward Ye Jing's face with a sharp, air-tearing whistle.

Simultaneously, the purple-light lotus pedestal accelerated its rotation, its purple glow becoming even more intense as the suction on the Divine Soul grew increasingly terrifying.

Seeing this, Ye Jing immediately brandished a snow-white longsword. Controlled by his spiritual power, the sword transformed into streaks of flowing light that bore down on the monk, Yuan Wu.

Monk Yuan Wu was horrified; the sword's aura was sharp and majestic, clearly no ordinary object. He hurriedly used the lotus pedestal to block.

The purple light of the lotus pedestal converged on him as he heavily struck the sword, only to be knocked back more than ten feet.

"What a fine sword!" As a Sword Cultivator, He Yu's eyes lit up at the sight, and he couldn't help but exclaim.

"Damn it, everyone attack! Kill this old man!" Yuan Wu knew this old man was bizarre; if he wasn't dealt with, he would eventually become a serious threat.

Seeing this, the two martial monks charged forward, wielding their demon-subduing pestles.

He Yu immediately met them with his sword: "You bald donkeys! Your opponent is me!"

Under Ye Jing's somewhat surprised gaze, he alone held off the two martial monks' assault.

He had thought it through clearly; these monks had plotted to take his life, and he simply couldn't swallow that insult. It was better to kill them all to vent his anger.

"Curse you!" Yuan Wu was being continuously besieged by Ye Jing's meteor hammer and saw his subordinates pinned down by He Yu.

He immediately threatened: "Do you not want to live?! To dare strike us—I am the eldest Disciple of the Jinshan Temple in the Buddha Realm! If I die, my Revered Master, the High Monk Du Hua, will not let you off!"

Ye Jing sneered, "If we kill you all, who will know it was us?"

He didn't forget to look at Lin Dan, the only one who hadn't acted yet, and said, "Fellow Daoist Lin! You heard him; this Yuan Wu is still threatening us. If even one monk escapes today, none of us will survive!"

Hearing this, the slight hesitation in Lin Dan's heart instantly transformed into the humiliation she had just felt. She bit her lip and rushed in to help He Yu deal with the other martial monk.

The red umbrella in her hand opened once more, but this time she didn't release illusions or a rain of needles. Spiritual light surged from the umbrella ribs, each one transforming into a sharp blade.

As she flicked her wrist, the umbrella spun like a wheel, slicing directly toward the martial monk's arm that was holding the pestle.

The martial monk was already struggling under He Yu's Sword Qi. Now attacked from both sides, he lost his composure. As he moved his demon-subduing pestle to block, Lin Dan's umbrella blade slashed a deep gash across his chest, and his spiritual power instantly drained by more than half.

"Marvelous! Well done, Fellow Daoist Lin!"

With someone helping, He Yu's spirits were greatly lifted. His sword stance became even more fierce, the red Sword Qi darting out like a venomous snake from its hole, every move aiming for the martial monk's vitals.

Under their coordination, the two martial monks were pushed to their limits, and the battle suddenly reached a stalemate.

On the other side, the meteor hammer in Ye Jing's hands grew increasingly ferocious. Wu Yuan saw that this old man not only used heavy weapons but could also control sword techniques simultaneously.

Even more troublesome was that the small golden insects around him were still devouring his lotus pedestal and buddhist beads everywhere; they were impossible to defend against.

Yuan Wu could tell now that this old man was very strong and had great potential—a true talent.

"You old man, you actually have so many miscellaneous abilities!" Seeing this, Yuan Wu couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration for his talent and hurriedly urged him.

"How about you stop and join my Jinshan Temple? We can call today's matter settled, what do you say?"

Ye Jing smiled disdainfully. "Join the Jinshan Temple? Monk, you must have been hammered into a daze by this old man. You plotted against us, wanting to use our Primordial Spirits for Artifact Refining. This grudge will only be settled with your death!"

The admiration on Wu Yuan's face was instantly incinerated by rage, and the Buddha Power around him surged.

The originally pitch-black buddhist beads suddenly turned crimson, as if soaked in blood. The Buddhist mantra in his mouth became more rapid and obscure, and as the lotus pedestal spun, it spat out several pillars of purple fire, lunging straight for the golden insects around Ye Jing.

"Stubborn fool! Since you refuse to surrender, I shall first refine your golden insects and then extract your Primordial Spirit. Let's see if you can still be so stubborn then!"

But those golden insects were extremely agile. Before the purple fire pillars could get close, they scattered along the fluctuations of spiritual power around Ye Jing.

Some burrowed into the ground, while others clung to the nearby broken walls, only to reappear behind Wu Yuan a moment later and bite into his monastic robe.

Although the monastic robe was reinforced with Buddha Power, it was still chewed into tatters by the golden insects. A piercing pain shot through Wu Yuan's back, and his spiritual power flow momentarily stagnated.

Meanwhile, Ye Jing's meteor hammer continued to strike. The burns from the flames made Yuan Wu cry out, and he pulled a First-Order Mid-Stage Green Lion out of his Storage Pouch to summon it.

But as soon as the Green Lion appeared, it curled up on the ground in fear, not daring to move forward.

Seeing this, Yuan Wu immediately cursed, "Damn it! What are you afraid of?! They're just a few little bugs!"

Just as he was incredibly annoyed, he suddenly felt a powerful sense of oppression, and a buzzing sound abruptly exploded above his head.

Yuan Wu instinctively looked up and saw a golden insect several feet tall flying silently above him.

The insect was so large that it completely overshadowed him, while the lion he had summoned was now so terrified it was soiling itself and cowering, not daring to look up.

His boiling spiritual power warned Yuan Wu that this giant insect was a Second-Order Mid-Stage Yao Beast!!

Ye Jing asked back sarcastically, "Little bugs?"
