74: Chapter 74 Sect

Ye Jing, who was lying on the ground coughing up blood, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that the Red Lotus Cult Leader was dead.

"Ye Jing! You actually practiced cultivation! How is that possible! I am clearly the Immortal!"

Tang Wanxiong, whose flesh was charred on one side, roared in anger and cursed.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he refused to believe that Ye Jing could actually use Immortal Arts.

Meanwhile, Chen Mingyuan, who had killed the Red Lotus Cult Altar Master, also walked down and asked in a deep voice, "Are you also a Cultivator?"

Ye Jing panted weakly and said, "Immortal, I am just an ordinary Martial Artist, not some Cultivator."

Chen Mingyuan used the Qi Observation Method to investigate. He saw that the old man truly had no Spiritual Qi reaction and showed no signs of any cultivation rank.

"Since you are not a Cultivator, why can you use a Spiritual Artifact?" Chen Mingyuan immediately questioned.

Ye Jing coughed. "This is a Family heirloom passed down through my Family. I carry it with me as an amulet. I heard from my elders that this treasure can be used to dispel evil. I didn't expect it to come in handy today."

"Immortal! Don't listen to his nonsense! He is..."

"Noisy!" Chen Mingyuan raised his sword impatiently and instantly pierced Tang Wanxiong's chest.

As the blade entered his body, Tang Wanxiong's eyes widened. He never expected that after a lifetime on the battlefield, he would die in such a messy way.

Once the sword was pulled out, he was dead.

Chen Mingyuan looked as if he had just killed a beast, his gaze only fixed on the Golden Alms Bowl that had shattered into pieces on the ground.

He thought:

That Golden Alms Bowl was indeed somewhat powerful, but it was easily destroyed. It seems it wasn't any particularly formidable Magical Artifact.

Perhaps this old man came from an aristocratic Family that once practiced cultivation and just happened to have this Spiritual Artifact.

So he sheathed his sword and resumed his haughty demeanor. "It seems you all have saved this Immortal."

Ye Jing endured his pain-racked body and said in a raspy voice, "The Immortal must be joking. It was the Immortal's Divine Might that slew these Red Lotus Cult members. Mine were just small tricks. It is we who should thank the Immortal."

A faint, imperceptible glint flashed in his lowered eyes. He hadn't even reached the first level of Qi Refining yet and could only use a bit of Spiritual Power, but he naturally had to hide these facts.

Hearing this, Chen Mingyuan's face showed a somewhat entitled expression. His gaze swept across the messy battlefield, where the corpses of the Red Lotus Cult members lay scattered about, and the air was thick with the smell of blood and charred flesh.

He frowned in disgust and said, "You people have some luck. This Red Lotus Cult colluded with the Demonic Cult and harmed living beings. This Immortal has long intended to eliminate them!"

"The Immortal's Divine Might makes the demons tremble with fear," Ye Jing said, following his lead, while secretly remaining vigilant.

He could see that although Chen Mingyuan had a cultivation base, he was extremely conceited.

If he were to realize that Ye Jing could use Spiritual Power, things would likely not end well today.

Thus, he deliberately coughed a few times, and a mouthful of fresh blood overflowed from the corner of his mouth again. His body swayed as if he could no longer hold himself up.

Chen Mingyuan glanced at him. Seeing that his aura was becoming increasingly weak and completely lacked the Spiritual Qi fluctuations of a Cultivator, the last trace of doubt in his heart vanished.

In his view, a mundane old man from a fallen cultivation Family was simply not worth much of his attention.

"Follow those soldiers and leave this place. I will use Spells to kill these remnants of Longhu Mountain!" Chen Mingyuan said coldly.

His gaze fell upon the shattered, dull fragments of the Spiritual Artifact, and then he disdainfully mounted his sword.

After Ye Jing and the soldiers left, Chen Mingyuan immediately activated his incantations and took out several Talismans.

Once the Talismans glowed with red light, countless blood-red needles flew down.

Under Ye Jing's astonished gaze, those fine needles easily tracked the bandits trying to flee. With a single needle to the brain, those Martial Artists and Cultivators, who were merely Mortals, instantly trembled and collapsed to the ground, dying on the spot.

In just the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, there were no survivors left on the entire Longhu Mountain, except for the soldiers and the Ye father and son.

After dealing with the Red Lotus Cult.

The slaughter on Longhu Mountain finally subsided.

Chen Mingyuan sheathed his sword and took several Medicinal Pills to replenish his depleted Spiritual Qi.

Beside him, Ye Jing saw that after Chen Mingyuan took the Medicinal Pills, the fatigue on his face immediately vanished.

Seeing this, Ye Jing also opened the gourd at his waist and took several large gulps. This was the high-concentration crimson blood wine he had specially prepared.

It could replenish his excessively consumed Spiritual Power to the greatest extent.

He couldn't help but wonder, how did the Immortal's Medicinal Pills compare to his crimson blood wine?

After a brief rest.

Chen Mingyuan said that the remnants of Longhu Mountain had all been dealt with, and he would personally lead a team to search the depths of Longhu Mountain.

He also asked Ye Jing to go along.

Ye Jing readily agreed.

"Father, why don't you go and rest first?" Ye Yi couldn't help but ask with concern.

Ye Jing shook his head, stood up, and said, "Yier, my body is much better now. It's fine. Let's follow them in and take a look."

Chen Mingyuan took the lead, letting the soldiers continue deeper into Longhu Mountain.

The soldiers quickly formed ranks and dispersed in different directions.

The sound of footsteps, the clanking of armor, and the clashing of weapons broke the brief silence of the mountains.

Chen Mingyuan personally led a team of elites and was the first to burst into the main hall of Longhu Mountain.

Supported by Ye Yi, Ye Jing saw that the hall was already empty. The incense burner on the altar had tipped over, scattering ash everywhere. The statue of the Evil God that was originally worshipped had been split in two, with fragments scattered around.

"Immortal Master, there's a secret door here!" a soldier's voice came from the side of the hall. Chen Mingyuan walked over quickly and saw the soldier pointing at a wall where the bricks were a slightly different color from the rest, clearly being movable.

Several soldiers worked together to push the bricks aside, revealing a pitch-black opening. A foul, stench-filled breath wafted out, making everyone feel nauseous.

"Bring torches!" Chen Mingyuan ordered.

After the torches were lit, the firelight revealed the scene inside the cave—it was actually a massive Blood Pool. Dozens of mutilated corpses were soaked in the pool water; some had already begun to rot, while others were still twitching slightly. The edge of the pool was covered in eerie runes, and the smell of blood in the air was several times stronger than outside.

"This is the Blood Pool where the Red Lotus Cult refines corpses!" Chen Mingyuan's face was grave. "No wonder they have so many Corpse People; they use such a sinister method to refine them."

Seeing this, the soldiers all showed looks of horror.

While searching a stone platform next to the Blood Pool, a soldier suddenly found a red sandalwood box. Opening it, he found several tokens covered in evil energy and a perfectly sealed letter.

He hurriedly presented the letter to Chen Mingyuan: "Immortal Master, look!" Chen Mingyuan opened the letter and read it carefully by the firelight, his brow furrowing deeper as he read.

The handwriting on the letter was scrawled and the tone was vicious; it was actually a secret letter between the Red Lotus Cult and the Demonic Path's Xuanyou Sect.

The letter not only mentioned the collusion between the two Sects but also agreed that the Xuanyou Sect would provide the cold Materials needed for Corpse Refining, while the Red Lotus Cult would be responsible for handing over Spirit Stones for cultivation.

"What a Xuanyou Sect!" Chen Mingyuan clenched the letter, his knuckles turning white. "To think they would collude with the Red Lotus Cult and plot to bring disaster to the world! This letter must be kept safe and given to my Qingyun Sect later for further discussion."

Beside him, Ye Jing heard him reveal his identity. Qingyun Sect?

So this Chen Mingyuan came from a Sect; no wonder he had so many Magic Treasures with him.

But Chen Mingyuan, who had just spoken so righteously, couldn't hide the greed in his eyes when he saw that the Red Lotus Cult had Spirit Stones in the letter.

He immediately ordered, "Search thoroughly! Find the Spirit Stones for me!"
