160: Chapter 160 Market Business

Ye Jing looked at the joy in his grandson's eyes, a faint smile touching the corners of his mouth.

He raised a hand and patted his shoulder: "Don't be impatient. Renting a storefront is only the first step; doing the business well is what matters."

Just as he finished speaking, the Cultivator who had announced them earlier walked over quickly.

"Fellow Daoists, please follow me to the main street to select a storefront."

With that, he led the grandfather and grandson out of the pavilion toward the most bustling part of the market.

At this time, the main street was already surging with crowds. There were many shops on both sides, yet a few remained vacant; those were the spaces reserved by the Market Master for lease.

The Cultivator led them for about the time it takes half an incense stick to burn, stopping in front of a street-facing shop. He gestured, "Fellow Daoists, these few are the vacant storefronts on the main street. Their sizes are roughly the same, so you may choose any of them."

Ye Jing looked over. These storefronts all had blue brick floors, and the wooden door frames were carved with simple Spirit Gathering Glyphs. Though not luxurious, they were clean and tidy.

The location was excellent, situated right at a confluence of foot traffic. Cultivators came and went in an endless stream, and one could see the shop's layout at a glance.

Ye Tianhui leaned in to look at the shop. After thinking for a moment, he came before Ye Jing and said, "Grandfather, let's choose this one. It's the furthest forward on the street; every Cultivator walking by will be able to see our goods!"

Ye Jing looked in the direction he pointed. That storefront indeed had the best position, right next to a shop selling Low Grade Magical Artifacts where many passing Cultivators stopped.

So he nodded, "We'll choose this one."

Seeing this, the Cultivator handed over a key carved with a Spirit Gathering Glyph: "It is well that you have chosen. This is the shop key. If you need anything later, you can find the Market Master at the pavilion or look for the steward Cultivators on the street."

Having said that, he didn't forget to add, "This shop comes with a backyard containing a Teleportation Formation. If you need goods, you can transport them through the Teleportation Formation."

"There's even a Teleportation Formation?" Ye Jing was somewhat surprised to hear this.

He had heard of such Formations that could be activated to quickly teleport people to a certain location, but it was extremely rare for a shop run by Low Grade Cultivators to be equipped with one.

After all, the setup and maintenance of a Formation required a significant amount of Spirit Stones and effort, which ordinary shop-renting Cultivators simply could not afford.

Ye Tianhui's eyes lit up, and he couldn't help but start calculating in his mind.

With a Teleportation Formation, they wouldn't have to take the long way to transport herbs from home anymore, nor would they have to fear encountering Yao Beasts or highwayman Loose Cultivators on the road!

Ye Jing suppressed his inner astonishment, took the key, and asked the Cultivator, "Thank you for informing us, Fellow Daoist. I wonder how this Formation is used and activated? Are there any taboos?"

The Cultivator's expression was gentle as he patiently explained, "Rest assured, Fellow Daoist. This Formation is a Low Grade teleportation array uniformly set up by the Market Master."

"You only need to inject a small amount of Low-Grade Spirit Stones to activate it. The destination can be set to a secure outpost on the outskirts of the market, or a base you've reported in advance. Then, by setting up a similar type of Formation at the base to activate, you can teleport."

"The taboos are that you cannot transport forbidden items, nor can you transport too many heavy objects at once; otherwise, it will damage the Formation, and you would have to bear the cost of subsequent repairs yourself."

"Thank you for the detailed explanation, Fellow Daoist." Ye Jing cupped his hands in thanks, already making plans in his heart.

Their main business in the market this time was herbs and blood food for the use of Low Grade Cultivators.

Originally, they had to consider the issue of transporting goods. After all, the Ye Family was quite far from this Tiangong Market. It was inevitable that they would encounter bandit Cultivators on the road, leading to some losses. Now, with this Teleportation Formation, it saved them a mountain of trouble.

The Cultivator waved his hand: "You're too polite, Fellow Daoist. This is my duty. You two should inspect the storefront first; I won't disturb you further."

After saying that, he cupped his hands in farewell and turned to fly away on his sword.

Ye Jing opened the shop door, and a faint wave of Spiritual Qi rushed toward him.

He saw that the front hall of the shop was spacious, enough to hold dozens of medicine racks. On the walls on both sides, there were several grooves for placing Magical Artifacts, designed very ingeniously.

Passing through the front hall, there was a small courtyard. In the center of the courtyard, on a bluestone slab about a square inch in size, were densely carved Formation lines.

A faint glow shimmered between the lines; it was indeed that Teleportation Formation.

Ye Jing walked to the side of the Formation and felt a gentle Spiritual Qi within it.

"This Formation is very well-constructed. Although it's only Low Grade, it's enough for our daily transport of goods."

Ye Jing praised. A Low Grade Formation could transmit across a thousand miles; the further the distance, the more spiritual power the Formation consumed. But these were minor issues; the main thing was the convenience.

"This is great! Grandfather!" Ye Tianhui excitedly circled the courtyard. "We'll transport the Spirit Medicine over tomorrow and start early to attract more Cultivators!"

Ye Jing looked at his grandson's hopeful expression, his smile deepening. He reached out and rubbed the top of his head: "Don't rush. First, we must tidy up the storefront."

"Then we'll go to the market's Artifact Pavilion to order medicine racks and a signboard. While we're at it, we'll scout the market prices for Low Grade herbs. Knowing oneself and one's enemy is the only way to do business well."

Ye Tianhui nodded repeatedly, the joy in his eyes not diminishing in the slightest.

They worked together to get the shop open as soon as possible.

The shop was given a simple name: "Ye Family Spirit Medicine Shop."

The shop was filled with shelves and wooden tables carved from spirit wood. These shelves looked simple, but they could hold spiritual goods securely, making it harder for Spiritual Qi to dissipate.

Ye Tianhui also hurried forward to help, nimbly arranging the shelves in an orderly fashion.

Once the shelves and other display fixtures were in place, Ye Jing finally opened his Storage Pouch and began to arrange the goods methodically.

He divided the golden spirit rice into small bags, each containing about half a catty, and arranged them neatly on the most prominent shelf. The golden grains shimmered with a faint spiritual light, capable of catching a Cultivator's eye even from a distance.

The crimson blood fruits were placed in wooden trays lined with cushions. Each was plump and round, with golden patterns on the surface. The qi condensing grass was tied into small bundles and placed neatly alongside the crimson blood fruits.

There were also blood foods like Mountain Delicacy Chicken and spirit fish placed elsewhere.

In just a short hour, the storefront was tidied up. Various spiritual goods were arranged neatly, with a hazy Spiritual Qi that was particularly eye-catching.

After the Ye Family Spirit Medicine Shop opened, some Cultivators came and saw that the shop's Spirit Medicine was extremely effective. With extensive use, their cultivation progressed significantly.

Moreover, the shop's products were of high quality and reasonably priced. Many Cultivators were attracted by the dense Spiritual Qi and high-quality spiritual goods inside the shop.

Some bought a bag of golden spirit rice as daily rations, while others purchased crimson blood fruit and qi condensing grass to prepare for a Breakthrough in their cultivation. Some Cultivators who came in groups would buy several Mountain Delicacy Chickens, spirit fish, and other meats to stew.

The Ye Family's business gradually established a firm foothold in the Tiangong Market.

With the business expanding, Ye Jing struck while the iron was hot and formed partnerships with nearby Cultivator restaurants, helping to supply them with Spirit Medicine and meat, which also earned a lot.

The influx of large quantities of Spirit Stones also allowed the Ye Family's younger generation to Cultivate at lightning speed. Ye Jing also used this opportunity to Breakthrough to the Qi Refining Eighth Layer cultivation.

The Immortal Willow, which had been stagnant, also began to increase its Immortal Light. From the original dozen or so wisps left after squandering, it suddenly rose to a thousand wisps of Immortal Light.

With a thousand Immortal Light, a line of text suddenly appeared on the Immortal Willow.

β€œThe Family's immortal cultivation enterprise has expanded. The Demonic Beast Grotto-heaven can now be opened!”
