38: Chapter 38 The Road Ahead is Uncertain (Part Two)

Steward Wu channeled his power, and a three-colored light shone upon the long sword.

Yun Song felt his body grow light, and he was steadily lifted by Steward Wu as he stepped onto the blade of the Flying Sword.

Immediately, power was infused, and the Flying Sword shot toward the horizon like a meteor, cutting through the vast sky.

The wind whistled past his ears, but Yun Song had no time to appreciate the wonder of flight due to the intense pain in his foot; every bump felt like salt being rubbed into his wound.

This made his face grow even paler, and cold sweat constantly seeped from his forehead.

In the blink of an eye, the two arrived before the Grass Hut. Steward Wu landed lightly, carried Yun Song into the room, and placed him on the bed.

He immediately took an exquisite jade bottle from his Storage Pouch, placed it by the bed, and said, "Here is a Medicinal Pill for your injuries."

Yun Song looked at the jade bottle, his lips trembling violently. Tears welled up in his eyes again as he said in a choked, weak voice, "Thank you... thank you..."

Yun Song gazed at the jade bottle by the bed, his heart filled with complex emotions.

Steward Wu had helped him twice; this kindness was as heavy as Mount Tai.

He was but a nobody, and receiving such great kindness left him with a mix of guilt and gratitude.

He clenched his fists in secret, his gaze firm; no matter the difficulties or dangers, he swore to repay this kindness, or he would never know peace for the rest of his days.

"Once your injuries have healed, leave The Mine!" Steward Wu said, his expression serious and his tone carrying an unquestionable solemnity.

Yun Song's heart sank as he instantly grasped the deeper meaning behind Steward Wu's words.

The agony of his recent injury was like a deep scar, burning painfully in his memory.

He had personally experienced the ruthlessness and greed of that group; to remain here would undoubtedly be like a sheep walking into a tiger's den.

Only by leaving could he perhaps find a glimmer of hope and preserve his life.

At this thought, Yun Song nodded gently, his eyes filled with confusion about the unknown path ahead, yet vaguely revealing a trace of determination.

He remained bedridden for over a month.

Fortunately, although the Piercing Talisman had been fierce, it had not damaged his bones—a stroke of luck in his misfortune.

The scabbed wound on his foot had faded to a pale red.

Yet, whenever he looked at his navel, his palms would break out in a cold sweat.

He knew very well that while he was pinned by rocks in the Mine Cave, during the time when his consciousness was most blurred, a colorful mist had slowly seeped into his body through his navel.

Throughout this month, he had been anxious about this matter, subconsciously checking around his navel from time to time.

His thoughts would always drift back, uncontrollably, to the incident in the Mine Cave.

He had been poisoned without even realizing it, and his opponent had immediately thrown a mysterious object.

In an instant, it had triggered a violent collapse of the Mine Cave; this was the sequence of events he had been able to piece together so far.

As for what object Black Bear had thrown that could cause such terrifying consequences...

This question was like a dense fog; he racked his brains, but could never find the answer.

Steward Wu had not visited during this past month.

In the quiet Grass Hut, Yun Song had unknowingly spent over a month recovering from his injuries.

Thanks to the Medicinal Pill, his injuries had gradually healed and were no longer a major concern.

One day, Yun Song slowly pushed open the door of the Grass Hut.

Fresh air rushed in to meet him. He looked around; the surroundings were desolate and uninhabited, with only the Grass Hut standing alone.

He immediately realized that this was not the cluster of Grass Huts where he had originally lived.

He could not help but look around and saw Steward Wu lying leisurely on a wooden chair, his eyes slightly closed as if resting.

Yun Song suddenly realized that for the past month, he had actually been living in Steward Wu's personal residence.

Thinking that he had occupied the nest while the owner was away, and that Steward Wu might have had to make do on this chair, his heart was filled with guilt and embarrassment.

He took a deep breath and walked toward Steward Wu with hesitant steps.
